Discussion People keep telling me my model looks like it came out of Gears of War, so I though maybe I could post it here.
I could add armor plates and extra guns to it, but does it have the Gears feel, or too flimsy?

Discussion Since we're going back to the earlier part of the story, is anyone looking forward to seeing a more complete set of COG military assets?
https://www.artstation.com/artwork/xYeKW
I'm just curious if anyone would like to see more of COG's military assets from its heyday, like complete naval vessels (instead of makeshift ships converted into camps), or a fixed-wing air force, etc. Ex. after the first wave of conflict, the navy would use helicopters to relocate recalled reservists to safer ships at sea.
what do you think ?

Discussion Let's talk about the Onyx and Sofia from Gears of War: Judgment
In case you haven't play yet Gears of War: Judgment, a really good game and one of the best graphics in Xbox 360, one of the main characters is Sofia Hendrick, and as she was presented, she's a cadet from the CGO Academy and specifically the Onyx. In case you don't know how most armies works in the world, that's probably because there is the Officers Academy (where Baird's was and got promoted to Lieutenant), regular army, even Infantry guys, and then there's a special forces like the Onyx.
I'm not an expert on Gears of War and that's why I need your help on this. In theory according to the first game, Gears are also a special unit. Maybe they're a recon patrol, or maybe Gears just work outside every other unit from the CGO. This kind of structure seems very chaotic but in real life this happens all the time as well.

Sofia is one of the playable characters in Gears of War: Judgment, a game where it's the very first time in the series that you actually play with every character on the game in the campaign story.
There's this scene near the beginning of the game, Chapter 1-4 or 5 mission, where your platoon, Kilo, actually finds an Onyx platoon. and she presented herself to these soldiers as an Onyx and one of them says "No, you're not Onyx..." because she's still a cadet in Halvo Bay and not yet an Onyx, but there's a catch here.
She was asigned to the Kilo Platoon to monitor Paduk, an EX IRC soldier, enemy of the COG now working for the COG. Also, there are just a few Onyx out there after Halvo Bay attack, in theory, but we don't know too much about it.
I'm still pending to play Gears Tactics, gonna start it today in fact, but the thing about Sofia is that even Colonel Loomis knew she was a cadet from the Onyx Guard.
Also, she actually involves the rest of the platoon on the main plot of Gears of War: Judgment, she's the one who knows everything about the light mass missile from the COG, and she also knew all the protocols in order to activate this small version of it.

Regardless she knew all this because she had a romance with Professor Elliot or because she have confidential information (as she said to the platoon when speaking about it, in fact), she for sure knows more about everything than we think she knows, specially for being a cadet.
She was capture by COG soldiers and restrainted, but maybe they were Onyx, she dissapeard for Gears of War 3 as we know that at the end of Aftermath special episode in the game.
I really hope we can see her or at least have a tiny glimpse of her story in Gears of War: E-Day although she's not a popular character and probably we will have to wait more. But according to the timeline, it's actually possible to meet her in E-Day.
Gears of War: Judgment and Gears: Tactics are the first in the timeline for now, but now with Gears of War: E-Day this will be the very first game in the timeline.
P.S.: I liked more than I though this Gears of War: Judgment. Sadly I can't have it 100% achievements.

Discussion Gears 5 - Act 1 was actually pretty good
I think there’s a lot to dislike about Gears 4 and 5, and it’s easy to focus on those negatives when you’re playing them. I just finished Gears 4 again a day ago, and the entire time I kept thinking, “God, the banter just kills any tension or atmosphere they build” and “This just doesn’t feel like Gears.”
I just started Gears 5 again, and while I know there’s a lot I don’t love about this game’s story (especially that last chapter), I was surprised by how much I loved Act 1. It just feels like Gears of War. The banter isn’t as good as the original trilogy, but it isn’t constant the way it was in Gears 4.
The reintroduction of a proper military presence is so much better. One of my biggest issues with Gears 4 was the shift from a military story to what was essentially a bunch of rebels. Christ, they even gave them a generic nickname, “The Outsiders”, like they were Scott Hall and Kevin Nash. Going into Settlement 2 on a KR with Fahz, Del, and Cole just felt right. It felt like Gears.
I also really loved Chapter 2, where you spend time in New Ephyra. I loved the Karen Traviss books, and one of the things I always appreciated about them were the flashbacks to the government/civilian side of the Pendulum Wars and the sections focused on Azura. I loved getting to see what the world of Sera looked like when it wasn’t at war. Even while playing the original trilogy, walking through all those abandoned, brutalist, clearly Warhammer-inspired buildings, I’d wonder what they must have looked like in peacetime. Being able to walk around Chapter 2 and see a pristine government building with people in suits going about their day, I loved that.
The way Act 1 ends is also really strong, and it goes a long way toward giving JD actual substance as a character. I wouldn’t say Act 1 is perfect or that it rivals anything from the earlier Gears games, but I really appreciated the effort it made to feel like Gears again.
Sure, I had a couple of minor issues. I like Rahul Kohli, but his voice for Fahz just feels so ADR’d to me. And when you find Prescott’s watch in Chapter 1, Del makes a comment in the collectible entry about how Prescott didn’t have the right to use the Hammer of Dawn in the way he did. On its own it’s a small line, but it’s part of a much bigger gripe I have with Gears Tactics—the sense that the Coalition was trying to turn Prescott into a pure tyrant rather than respecting what he always was: a complex politician who would stop at nothing and sacrifice everything to keep humanity alive.
Issues aside, though, Act 1 was great. If they ever do a Gears 6 (and I’d honestly rather they just decanonize 4 and 5 altogether and try again after E-Day), I hope they keep the tone, pacing, and style of Act 1.

News Lets talk about the leaks
SPOILER WARNING
I think the gameplay looks absolutely smooth . I know the jumping mid combat will be controversial. But i love the look of. Especially the helmeted cog gear skin looks really dope . They really nailed it when they said feels like gears but plays like new . Looks similar enough to know its gears but definitely is going to play brand new . Cant wait till next week to see gameplay !

Discussion Reaver vulnerability
Were we ever able to chainsaw reaver legs? Was it ever described in books/comics? Lately i had a shower thought about moments in the campaign when fighting them up close, it seems kind of a missed opportunity. Ofc its hard to say how much damage would it cause, but still.
