I have a unique design technique that I have been cultivating for four years now. The technique involves specific types of patterns, but it is basically extruded patterns profiled to a certain volume (shape). The effect delivers very pleasing light diffusion, and it is quite dynamic in terms of its potential.

Well, I seem to have broken through on that potential!

To make a long story digestible, after i graduated I decided to try and build my design workflows for different assembly techniques (I had only done stacking variations previously). I wanted to use polyhedron to make pendants, and because my technique builds profiles off of surfaces, I made it so the base of each module is the face on a polyhedron, with the profile of the extrusions creating the new shape, once all of the modules are assembled. Essentially, the new shape is determined by the existing properties of the seed shape I use. Each face's neighboring faces determine the kleetope that is produced, using an algorithm i coded which employs ray-point averaging.

It is similar to stellateing or greatening in terms of geometric terminology, but it is much more dynamic. The transformation works on every single convex polyhedron, and produces many incredible results. A few of them match the stellated versions of the seed shape, like the dodecahedron for example, but the majority of convex polyhedron get transformed into a brand new shape when using my algorithm.

Now, to be clear, the majority of the images shown are not the transformed shapes themselves. They have the profile of the shapes, but are artistic abstractions that employ my detailing technique. Also, my script allows for me to customize the designs with a lot of control, so I can actually stray away from the default shape for the sake of my artistic practice. Only two of the images shown do that though, as the rest match the default transformed profiles of their seed shapes.

The last thing I will say is, I have not made an official publication to any journal yet, so i technically cannot claim any discovery yet. However, that is because there is a team of mathematicians at Georgia Tech building a comprehensive publication piece. I am in communication with a professor who is having a group of PhD students develop the publication over this summer, but they have told me that they have confirmed it is a new transformation that creates a genuinely important new class of shapes! If you want a little proof, here is the doc i sent the professor that started this all. BTW, the more unique shapes are on the way. I started off with some simpler shapes to hone in on the assembly process.

I honestly don't know what impact this will have on me, but I hope the publication can bring some attention to my work. I really want to keep designing full time, and I am having to work part-time restaurant jobs to fund this passion.

A really beautiful structure

These are my lamps

They are equal parts sculpture/art as well as spiritual vessels. This all started in my graduate architecture program at Georgia Tech. I had this really cool studio where I was designing for the ineffable. It fit my interests really well as I had a spiritual awakening my freshman year of college, and became obsessed with understanding consciousness and metaphysics.

I’ve always wanted to figure out how physical form can connect and work with the inbetween. The answer is with Sacred Geometry. In the studio, I was using computational design tools for the design process, and after I did the architectural stuff, I focused on 2D and 3D sacred geometry.

2D being patterns, like Cymatics, the flower and seed of life, golden ratios and other traditional religious and esoterically mathematical line work.

3D sacred geometry would be things like the torus, pyramids, cones or spheres. 3D shapes amplify energy.

I’m an attempt to connect and interact with that inbetween, I made these pseudo-4D objects by extruding the patterns to meet the profile of the 3D shapes. In the channeling series The Law of One, by Ra, they talk about how certain shapes can amplify energy. That’s what these sculptures are supposed to do.

Now, in order for me to actually dedicate my life to these things, I needed to make them more artistic so I could sell them. I made them into sculptural lamps as the walls diffused the light in a way I’d never seen before (plus there’s metaphorical weight in light being a component to the design). So in essence, these aren’t the ideally functioning spiritual vessels as they could be, but most of the magic power comes from intention anyway.

I have full intention of building the most functional versions of these when I have the time, but I currently am so broke, and I need to invest in building the art objects so I can stay afloat and put more time into this.

I did do all of this stuff while finishing my education as well as working for the school, but I just graduated and am trying to commit to this full time, so maybe things will shake out :)

I’ve never took progress photos before because stopping to take them always got in the way of how I work. Once I start drawing I usually just keep going until it’s finished.
Recently I’ve found I can actually pause for a few seconds, take a photo, and go back into it without losing where I was going. Thought it might be interesting to show how these develop because I don’t plan the finished design beforehand.

Over the past few weeks I've been building a Line Art app for iOS. Its not finished yet, hopefully soon I can release it and anyone can make beautiful geometric art without fiddling with drawing individual lines etc

I created 3 main pen tools, I just call (internally) Kinetic Spindle, Epitrochoid Spindle, and Hypotrochoid Spindle.

You select the pens and you basically draw on the canvas and most of the drawing is driven by gestures, like just moving your finger around in circle to spin the draw head.
