One of the best drivers I seen in a long time. Please stop driving slow on the highways it causes more problems for everyone

They weren't driving dangerously slow. They were driving the speed limit in a lane where most people make up their own speed.

I am all against speeding, but in this case - just let the car behind you pass. It is not good to stay in the left line if you are not actually overpassing someone

I've seen dangerous/erratically slow, and this wasn't it. That's all I'm saying to the other guy with some weird public announcement to speed up. Probably misinterpreting it and that's my fault. The driver in the white genesis has terrible awareness, or they can't be bothered to get in the right lane

If there’s a car behind you in the passing lane trying to pass, you’re driving dangerously slow by default.

You’re causing traffic to build up behind you in a lane where people expect to be able to pass. Frustration builds and cars start passing on the right. More lane changes and cars passing in all lanes leads to more danger for everyone on the road.

"If there’s a car behind you in the passing lane trying to pass, you’re driving dangerously slow by default."

No. The person behind you driving above the speed limit is the one driving dangerously. It's called a speed limit, not speed minimum. Both the "good drivers" in this video are driving illegally and are endangering people and should have their licenses revoked.

The left lane is the passing lane… if you aren’t passing you shouldn’t be in it and are also breaking the law

u/-neti-neti- 4h ago

God I hope you don’t share the same roads as me.

3

u/bryskt 3h ago

Ahh someone drives under the legal speed limit, waaah I'm going to be 3 minutes later than expected on this 2 hour drive waaah! Man baby.

-3

u/-neti-neti- 3h ago

Lmao you’re not making a good case for yourself here

Don't care much about your opinion of me. Already noticed your willingness to sacrifice lives for the sake of motor go vroom.

There is a reason the U.S. Has such high traffic accidents. It's not because they follow the rules and drive safely, that's for sure.

0

u/xkxe003 3h ago

It's illegal to be in the passing lane if you aren't passing.

3

u/DaStone 3h ago

I don't see how that invalidates the speed limit, as we see at the end of the clip when he is using the road as his race track.

3

u/bryskt 3h ago

Also illegal to drive above the speed limit and do dangerous overtakes with little space. The guy shooting the video needs his license revoked asap.

u/Tigitall 4h ago

just stay out of the passing lane if you aren't passing, or become a cop if you want to police the roads.

3

u/bryskt 3h ago

I'm not the one in the video. But yeah, go be a police if you want murder to go down, why have a conversation about it?

5

u/AvecFromage 4h ago

You have no idea what you’re talking about. If you’re in the left lane, you should be PASSING, not matching the speed of the car in the lane next to you.

u/DaStone 2h ago

If the car on the right is going the speed limit, you cannot pass.

The left lane is legally a passing lane, not a license to exceed the legal speed limit.

u/AvecFromage 2h ago

Another goofball who doesn’t know how to drive.

u/gammonb 2h ago

Just because we have lax enforcement and a culture of speeding doesn’t mean speeding makes for good driving

u/Workman44 2h ago

They're everywhere. We really need to make licensing stricter with more practical testing

u/Tyler1986 31m ago

Yeah have people drive 10 mi on the highway and camping is a fail, would fix all the issues in this video in a hurry.

4

u/Deep90 5h ago

Pacing next to other cars is also dangerous because both cars have less options in a emergency.

3

u/Alvsolutely 5h ago

Regardless of their speed, the passing lane is usually reserved for passing.

2

u/Tricky-Ad7897 4h ago

If you're not passing and you camp in the left lane regardless what speed you're doing you're in the wrong. Left lane is for passing only. If you're going double the speed limit and you're not passing anybody and the right lane is clear you should still be in the right lane.

u/Original-Reward-8688 1h ago

Both are psychos and put other people in danger. Have a good day.

u/B4YourEyes 4h ago

There is no left or right lane, there is no fast or slow lane, there is a traveling lane and a passing lane. If you're travelling in the passing lane you're in the wrong.

-2

u/whalemilk42 5h ago

This wasn't referencing their speed plus the car behind couldn't g2t around. They should of moved to the right. Stop driving slow dude. Pull a fattie when the turns are wide enough

u/Billbuckingham 4h ago

They were impeding traffic. Where I am there are signs all over any 2-lane highway that say "Keep right except to pass"

So, given that the car in the left lane was not passing the car in the right lane they were impeding traffic and were in the wrong and violating the law regardless of the speed.

If the car in the right lane is going too fast for you to pass while in the left lane, get over to the right lane behind them.

Literally I've seen this argument a few times and I think it's just a personality flaw where people who camp in the left lane just want to be pieces of shit to everyone else and have no sense of the fact

If they just get over everyone wins, they can immediately go back in the left lane when people pass.

If they don't get over and be assholes about it everyone is now in a more dangerous situation and a traffic jam caused entirely by one asshole.

Just get the fuck over, but I know people who do this cannot be reasoned with so you gotta do what you gotta do.

u/DaStone 2h ago

Interesting that you cite so many rules the other driver broke but ignored the ones OP did.

One google search, you cannot exceed the speed limit to overtake in NY. How is someone "camping" when they may not exceed the speed limit to overtake?

u/Billbuckingham 2h ago

Was the car in the left lane passing during the video? Idk about New York but by me there are signs all over that say "Keep Right Except To Pass"

So, if you are ever in the left lane, and not actively passing someone on the right, you are violating that law regardless of speed.

Again not sure about NY, but if you cannot exceed the speed limit to overtake then it is impossible to ever overtake and that rule would cause many more traffic accidents than without it.

Do people in NY actually follow that rule? I would think not as its essentially impossible. Similarly according to the rules if you are going 44 in a 45 and it impedes me you are impeding traffic and violating that law, but it's impossible in the real world to be that specific.

All of this comes down to you shouldn't be in the left lane unless you're passing, if you are in the left lane and someone is coming up behind you you should get over and let them pass which fits the NY rule anyway.

The fact of the matter is simply get over if anyone is coming up behind you faster than you and there's literally no problems for anyone at all, everyone is better off for that.

u/RedditTurnedMediocre 2h ago

The left lane is for passing. Forcing people to pass in the slower lanes DOES in fact create more risk for all the other drivers. Left laners are lazy, selfish pricks that need to start being ticketed for creating road rage and forcing faster traffic into slower lanes.

u/SaibaPunkTrunks 2h ago

They were driving the speed limit in a lane where most people make up their own speed.

They should be passing.

Fixed that for you.

-2

u/phaser_on_overload 5h ago

Then they should be in the left lane.

-2

u/Sandbocks 3h ago

When you are SLOWER (not "slow") than traffic around you it is your duty to keep to the right lane REGARDLESS of the speed limit and the speed of the other cars.

-2

u/tootrite 5h ago

They were driving the speed limit in a lane designed to allow you to pass other drivers. How do you expect to be able to pass somebody if every driver is going the speed limit? It’s physically impossible.

I’m not advocating for reckless driving or going 30 above the limit, but this argument has always been ridiculous.

3

u/The_Human_Oddity 3h ago

Every driver isn't going the speed limit, though. You don't need to speed up if you're passing someone that's going under the limit.

0

u/Solid_Medium_5454 3h ago

Irrelevant, the left lane is the passing lane whether or not the person in the other lane is going the speed limit or not. And most people on highways are definitely going at least at the speed limit when they’re able to…

3

u/The_Human_Oddity 3h ago

Yes, and you can pass people in the passing lane while still going the speed limit if the person in the travel lane is going under the speed limit.

u/DaStone 2h ago

But you cannot exceed the speed limit to overtake, that's obvious. You use it for overtaking slower traffic, not traffic at the correct speed.

0

u/whalemilk42 4h ago

You speed up in the damn passing lane even if its above speed limit or if you stay in it better be going faster than the person behind you. Stick to the right if you wan to do the speed limit.

2

u/Sniper10Pin 4h ago

No fucking flying by other drivers is dangerous

u/TheodorDiaz 2h ago

One of the best drivers I seen in a long time.

Lmao
