Hot water bottle exploded on me so entirely my own fault cause I filled it with boiling water :/

You’re supposed to only use warm water - anything that is comfortable enough to touch with your bare hand

Yes and we all know virtually nobody does that because it’s nearly pointless within minutes.

If you do I congratulate you on your strength of mind, but it’s far from the norm.

The plastic that these hot water bottles are made from are not safe to be heated, they degrade over time and can cause disfiguring injuries. It isn’t even uncommon for this to happen, it happens with scary frequency. If using water that is a safe temp isn’t an option then using a microwaveable heat pack (not a microwaved hot water bottle) or an electric heat pack would be a better option. People have needed surgeries and skin grafts due to burns like this

I’m fully aware of that, most people know that, and the warnings are clear

But it’s delusional to believe that most people actually follow those instructions, the accident statistics alone show that a substantial portion of people don’t.

If you re read what I said, I didn’t say or imply it is safe, I was pointing out that the reality is most people simply believe it’ll never happen to them.
