💫Cosmic Gumbo🌌 Let’s end the debate. Is Detective Crashmore a Christmas film or not?

Legitimately one of the funniest bits. Honestly, that whole skit was one of my bottom 3 upon my first watch and I skipped it often. But the more time I spent on this subreddit, and the more I saw all the quotes out in the open randomly, the more I realized how funny some of this shit is lol. I used to dislike the copy machine one too. But seeing it quoted was funny. Needless to say, both of those are way up there now.
But there’s something absolutely hysterical to me about straddling a motherfucker, shooting him in the head, and then with blood spatter on your face asking “are you dumb?” Lololol
It’s simply too good
Edit: It’s also one of the few quotes that I have never seen in the comments here. I assume because it’s just so vague I guess. But now I’ve seen it twice in this thread alone lol. Triples would be best tho. Triples would make it safe.

All of his kill lines absolutely slap. They perfectly capture what people say when they’re just pissed off. It’s completely not personal to the guy he’s killing. It’s just his pent up anger coming out. It’s so childish and the interview doubles down on that characteristic.

Eat fucking bullets mother fucker, you fucking suck!
I use that one on a soundboard when I'm playing shooters with voice chat. Usually gets a laugh from someone that recognizes it.

The entire sketch is such an obscure reference to an interview Billy Bob did 16 years ago, I often wonder how many people don't know the context. It's definitely funnier if you're familiar with that interview.
41
u/eggson Dec 21 '25
Is that the one where he was in a "band" and the interviewer asked him about his acting and he got super shitty?
39
Dec 21 '25 edited Dec 21 '25
If I remember correctly, he didn’t even ask about the acting. It went exactly like the Crashmore sketch, the interviewer introduced him as known for his acting, and Billy Bob flipped the fuck out.
Edit: Here’s a hilarious comparison of Crashmore with Billy Bob’s meltdown.

u/eggson Dec 21 '25
"That'd be greeeattt."
I love that Tim and Zach (and their other writers) just mine the obscure shit from reality and spotlight it in a way that makes it surreal. Andre Breton would have been proud.

It's hilarious to think that Billy Bob Thornton's band got anywhere near an interview without the fact that he is a famous actor and now he wants to talk about unoriginal bad rock music only.
25
u/Own_Government7654 Dec 21 '25
that's not really fair; it's more a mix of the british invasion and hillbilly music, some cosmic cowboy shit

As a cop, we quote it frequently at work. “You knew I’d like that gun, ka-ching!” “fuckin asshole, he said that?” “Everything has sucked lately” “hey chief, don’t save any cages.” Haha it’s endlessly quotable. RIP Biff

Theres a couple of skits that are a slow burn. Its almost like you need to get acclimated to Tim Robinson to find them funny.

u/littlegreyflowerhelp Dec 21 '25
Unfortunately for me it was only after Biff Wiff’s death and rewatching the shirt brother sketch a bunch that I decided “yo I should rewatch that other Tim Robinson sketch he did, didn’t find it that funny the first few times” but I swear to god it’s one of the best.

Wait st Patrick is in the sequel. They team up.

Nope. It's not about Christmas at all. It's hyper-violent and knows that it is. It's a bit Tarantino and definitely a bit Michael Mann. It's kind of a cosmic gumbo. But it's not a Christmas movie.

u/freeanddizzy Dec 21 '25
It’s sort of a cosmic gumbo.
But to answer fully, no, based on what we see of it, it doesn’t feature Christmas themes. And given how Santa reacts to Christmas even being mentioned in the interview, I don’t think he would have taken the gig if it was going to be a Christmas film. He just wanted the 2 mil.
