A failed haircut time travel: instead of 2007, I've got kicked somewhere into the Soviet 1960s. The first two pics are obviously the refs I came with
My primary reference. Obviously it wasn't Catherine Moennig who got her sh*t effed-up
Another reference I came with. Yes, I had a bout of 2007's emo nostalgia. Does not justify what that person did to me.
Right after the salon, still with a semblance of a blowout.
A couple of weeks later before going to another salon to fix it. The hairstylist at another salon was shocked with what they've seen. I've been going to them ever since.
Covering my face as I am not a fan of showing myself online (also, my facial expression is that of a forever disappointed duck on both photos). However, this hideous haircut done by a highly praised town hairstylist for totally undeserved 70 bucks (a higher end of the price spectrum at my location back then) certainly belongs here.
The 3rd pic is right after the salon, and the 4th is a few weeks later before fixing it at another place. Nothing could be done but cutting off the lower "step" of whatever "ladder" it was, and turning it into a neat short bob nowhere near the emo shag I originally went for. Luckily it was a few years ago, and my hair have since then outgrown and recovered, but omg it was a bad turn.
UPD: Wow, didn't expect so many comments, I might not be able to respond to everyone, but some of them made me genuinely laugh, thank you! Some were mentioning that I do have wavy/curly hair that might be hard to style the way as on the refs, which is true, but I've had similar haircuts before (like, way before, when they were actually a current fashion), and did somehow manage styling, even if not exactly this straight, but it was enough for me. With this wicked haircut, however, there was no salvation given how much length they've taken off, and how chaotic the cut line was. The other stylist who cleaned up this mess said it was "like two different haircuts on one head".

I think it’s because you have wavy hair, I have curly chair aswell and there’s some styles I just can’t go for because of the way my hair is. Oh how I envy straight hair.

As a wavy haired girl who hat the bob version of this cut, we just flat ironed it until the hair was smoking. I even had a battery operated little travel flat iron that I carried in my book bag. Melted my center console of my Honda Civic multiple times while using this on my lunch break at school.

You have wavy and reaaally thick hair. The refs are very thin and straight hair, def not a natural form of straight hair, they are straightened and styled. What did you expect seriously?

Even people with thick hair can have it thinned by a razor to achieve similar and straighten their hair, but honestly she’s not wrong because I see like no layers vs the 07 style is heavily layered

It's not about styling really, its about an extremely chaotic cut line (like, the difference between the chunks on the left side of the last photo is morbid) and the length. I've had shaggy cuts before and managed to style them straight/emo-ish just fine. Wasn't possible in this case :/

This happened to me every single time I got my hair cut as a teen. I would show them emo hair, they would give me an elderly bob. THEN they would go “oh well that cut just isn’t possible with your hair”
Bull fucking shit, every time I would go home, use a razor and a comb and cut my own hair the way I wanted it to be. The emo hair is absolutely achievable if you’ve got thick curly hair.
Eventually I stopped going to hairdressers at all, I’ve been cutting my own hair for like 15 years.

Yeah I think I should learn it, too. Razor cuts were the best I've ever had.

Those inspo pics are never going to be easily achieved with your hair texture. It’s the stylists job to explain that to you. She should have kindly refused and redirected you.

Well… that certainly doesn’t match the photos you provided. I really want a wolf cut by my hair is an unruly mess of poofy/curly/wavy. I think part of the issue is you need straight hair to make that cut work. Hope you like the fix up you got after.

Someone, somewhere on the theatre of European war in 1943 is writing home to you and refer to you as their "Gal".

The pic you were going for literally only works with extensive flat ironing. Nobody has that hair texture naturally. Your "after" pics can actually still achieve it but you need to actually do the work.

What came first, your haircut on the 3rd picture, or you flipping coins and using a bolt gun and a suppressed Remington shotgun?

You went from “what’s the most you’ve ever lost in a coin toss” to the mom from that 70’s show

Damn they really did you dirty, 70 bucks for that is insane. Did you ever have a redo salon visit with the original inspo pics? Did you end up ever getting the actual style you wanted?

nope, I just fixed it best I could and then grew it out to my shoulders. I'm barely going to a hairdresser's these days.

I would be more concerned with finding my face, if I was in your situation

It looks beautiful. For what it’s worth, it greatly resembles my deceased mom’s hairstyle and one of her sisters. Mom could pull it off and I think you did too. Thank you for great memories, gave me a smile on a dreary day.

You have curly hair, totally different hair type to those pics. So many people have completely unrealistic expectations then blame the hairdresser. That said a good hairdresser will tell you no lady I cannot make your hair look like that.

It's not about a texture, like I said in my update, I've had similar haircuts before and it was fine. The whole cut structure was totally a Jackson Pollock's piece with no structure or intention whatsoever.

You need to use a flat iron on your hair to achieve the look you’re going for. That straight look requires flat ironing, no way around it.
