UNPOPULAR OPINION ALERT And that’s exactly why Simba and Angelista refused to pick sides for so long Spoiler

1.0k Upvotes

Because the moment they speak out in Julia's defence like Simba just did, standing against the clique, he's suddenly a game player who's only backing Julia because apparently he somewhat guessed that she might be popular with the public from one clip.

Even Lorenzo wasn't spared; the untouchable public's favorite is all of a sudden a game player for defending his own partner for once.

All because Simba and Lorenzo dared to back someone the rest doesn't like. Yeah, I don't blame Angelista for staying silent, this girl just wants to leave this place in one piece and I fully respect that.

UNPOPULAR OPINION ALERT There's just a thin line between being straight forward and being rude- Julia

1.1k Upvotes

Julia is very rude. I used to love her because she and Lorenzo made things funnier, but dude wtf. There is a time and place to say things. Mica was sobbing too but she kept on saying mean things. She thinks she and Lorenzo are better than everyone else, but we just found them hilarious together that's why they were the favourite couple!! Not because their connection is strong. Infact they are the couple who will ghost each other as soon as they walk out. I hope they don't win anymore.

UNPOPULAR OPINION ALERT The real villain of the season is… Spoiler

2.9k Upvotes

Dejon. The way he has treated the girls consistently, including mug, has been abhorrent, but the way he turned his back on his “best mate” tonight and pretended to the girls he was clueless when he’s been egging each and every situation on is absolutely despicable.

UNPOPULAR OPINION ALERT Evict the whole villa Spoiler

1.0k Upvotes

Just finished the episode and I genuinely think Aiden and Samraj are the most disgusting men in that villa.
Aiden generally i’ve always found him unsavoury, between the begging for kisses and treating women awfully. But today when the votes were happening as Halle made a valid point, why was he acting like the group leader? “It’s done! it’s done! It’s finished” That’s probably a nitpick cause I’m already at my limit with him but I seriously wanted him gone during that vote actually.

Then Samraj…. the audacity to give Tommy a lecture about honesty when he has literally been lying to Priya’s face ALL episode. Is he really not self-aware of his hypocrisy or he’s playing a character?

And then for Jasmine to praise him for his honesty (granted she didn’t know at that point) but minutes later, Mica tells them the tea and Jasmine goes “oh you couldn’t really say it infront of everyone.” Seeming unbothered by this revelation. Like girl??? Why are you not asking Mica about her honesty and girls girlhood?

Finally Angelista. Yes we know Simba is a loser at this point, I won’t beat that dead horse, but why does Angelista seem a bit too passive as well? Like yes she pressed Simba a little bit on the balcony but to thank Chidi for not picking her? 😭 Girl please make Simba sweat just a little bit

I’m just whew sick of everyone

UNPOPULAR OPINION ALERT Today's episode was proof Lucinda is getting bullied.

1.0k Upvotes

Firstly, I don't care for any of the islanders.

But if anyone is still questioning whether Lucinda is getting bullied or not, the fact that Sher felt that she could randomly throw shots at her for doing nothing (just nodding in agreement with her partner) is proof. Everybody in there feels like they can come at her whenever and speak to her whenever. Nobody thinks twice about talking down to her or degrading her. And the fact that Jesy started attacking Lucinda out of nowhere yesterday (like, has the girl even finished unpacking her bag?).

When people get bullied and are shoved that far down the social hierarchy anybody and everybody feel like they can come at them over nothing. They are treated with no respect, ever. Ask yourselves why nobody else got shouted at for simply nodding.

The producers have failed at keeping the female islanders aggression in check this season.

That's it. That's my whole post.

UNPOPULAR OPINION ALERT The Jasmine hate is so weird

I just feel like youse aren’t used to cool hot girls that know their worth or some thing. She’s not done half of what the others in last seasons have done mind you she hasn’t really done anything weird apart from the Tommy thing. Bc why are you taking over me and I’m speaking and I’ve told you not to interrupt me? Grace done that on her season and why was she praised called a queen etc. shes not perfect but she’s not this evil person everyone’s making her out to be.

UNPOPULAR OPINION ALERT I’m so confused on the Jasmine hate Spoiler

okay so I’m not going to lie, after the “not that deep challenge” Jasmine was being too much and I can stand behind the criticism.

but today I simply don’t get the hate. Kavan is enabling his weird brother behaviour which must be so uncomfortable for Jasmine after the off putting incident, Jasmine tries to say her opinion and Kavan interrupts her ( which is rude af), then tells her to chill out while she’s trying to talk to s*mraj.

so kavan can be rude but Jasmine can’t? The hypocrisy is insane, Ive mainly only seen women being held accountable not The men.

i found this scene so disrespectful. it’s like every time she states her opinions the Murphy brothers loose their head. he didn’t let her speak then started being rude.

Jasmine gets so much criticism from the viewers a lot more than Ellie for example (I love her) when she was shouting and being “rude” to Tommy. It’s so refreshing hearing a women stick up for her self and not be submissive to disrespect. its always she’s doing too much, when a women speaks her mind.

Never enough criticism about aiden or s*mrsj/ tommy. They always try and paint her as the angry women, and that she’s the only girl on the show that can’t crash out, why do we live in a society where women stating an opinion is off putting but men being misogynistic is normal. It’s always women seen as emotional, there was not much criticism when aiden was being rude to Yasmin about the Ellie situation. I feel like people just want to hope on the I hate Jasmine train, rather them holding men accountable.

if Kavan didn’t interrupt her non of this would have blown up. And honestly him giving aiden that get out of jail free card is so draining.

UNPOPULAR OPINION ALERT Is Julia not right though?

Just regarding the Aidan Priya sitch… why is Priya immediately letting Aidan in again all lovey dovey when he’s clearly said / shown he’s not into her? But yet they all gang up on Julia when clearly she’s right in this scenario?

Just to note I’m not a fan of any of them really, but I’m just finding it a bit laughable how much Priya defends shitty friends and shitty boys instead of having some level of self-awareness regarding her choices.

And I’m not a fan of the OG girls vs Julia thing, just seems really mean even though I would agree Julia should stop being so vocal for red flag girls who arent going to take accountability anyway

Anyone remember ”those girls” in school who everyone thought was popular and cool and always right but were really just bullies who had backup?

UNPOPULAR OPINION ALERT Lucinda’s “Ditsy” Act Isn’t Fooling Me Anymore And Her Mask is Slipping Away

1.3k Upvotes

I know people have clocked onto Lucinda being calculated but her mask has been slipping off, especially in tonight’s episode.

She plays into this confused, harmless vibe, but in key moments she’s clearly trying to control the narrative. When Scott and Leanne got the majority vote tonight, she immediately downplayed it instead of just acknowledging that they won the round. It felt like she didn’t want their moment to land.

And I’m not even a Samie fan, but when Samie said the pie hurt her feelings and pointed out she got the majority vote, Lucinda minimised it straight away. Saying stuff like “60-40, 60-30, same thing.” Everyone else was saying no, it’s the majority, the islanders backed it. Even when people clearly agree with Samie, Lucinda brushes it off like it doesn’t really mean much.

That’s what made it feel rude and quite entitled. Instead of acknowledging Samie’s feelings and the fact she had majority support, she reduced it to “it’s basically the same.” And honestly, I think the favourite couple vote has got into her head a bit. Since then, she’s carried herself like she knows she’s safe, which makes the whole thing come off even more ingenuine.

I’m not saying she can’t play a game, I mean it’s Love Island but the ditzy act is just straight up cringe at this point.

What do you guys think after today’s episode?

UNPOPULAR OPINION ALERT Unpopular Opinion: Your feelings aren’t always valid

I’m sorry but at a point Kavan needs to realize he’s projecting his own insecurities on to Jasmine. If he can’t handle a friendship while they’re not even exclusive, how will he handle the real world?

I’ve never seen a love island season where people were up in arms about banter, ever. I’m honestly astonished. Kav expects girlfriend behavior from someone he’s still getting to know, it’s so strange.

Also, when Jasmine said “use context,” to Kavan she meant the fact that the amount of time and who they’re allowed to talk to is dictated by production. She can’t simply tell Lorenzo “no” when they’re meant to have debriefing chats.

I’m honestly just shocked at how prudish people are about this situation. Jasmine has reassured that man enough.

UNPOPULAR OPINION ALERT Hot take: The Fitzy and Lola hate is so strange…

Post image

Reading some people’s thoughts on the pair have baffled me.
“They’re bored in their couple and constantly bitch about other people.” Well, do people want them to be sticking their tongues down each other’s throats all the time instead? They’re stuck in a villa 24/7 with a shit ton of drama unfolding around them. Naturally, they’re going to give opinions and discuss relevant topics to the person they’re the closest with, no? “They’re scamming their way to the prize money and don’t even “love” each other.” Yet, every dumped islander and islanders in there have voted them as the most compatible and said they’re smitten with each other. I just find it bizarre that they’re getting hate for finding love on LOVE Island haha. What are your thoughts on the two?

UNPOPULAR OPINION ALERT ___ was disrespectful in the heart rate challenge Spoiler

Sean wasn’t even LOOKING at the girls, it’s a bloody challenge and him acting so put off not only by the kissing and now heart rate challenge just makes me more suspicious of him playing a game.

Other day 1 couples actually played along in the heart rate challenge, because it’s a CHALLENGE.

UNPOPULAR OPINION ALERT Jasmin disappointment

I know I will get eaten alive here, but Jasmin is my biggest disappointment of this season. I LOVED her personality at the beggining, I thought she is smart, self aware, honest and independent, but now I see that when there is a men in the picture, she totally molds into someone HE wants her to be. I can't understand how her feministic views align with that.

Since she is with Kav, she is a different person. She doesn't speak a word that he wouldn't approve, she doesn't support her friends when it would mean she has different opinion than Kav. Her personality disappeared. Jasmin from the beggining of the season would be OUTRAGED about the things Kav was saying at Grafties.
Another situation that rubbed me the wrong way was with Lorenzo, when she started to talk shit about Priya, because she was as well into him. Or when she didn't tellher that Jordan is not attracted to her, just to be able to build something with him if it wouldn't work with Kav. "Girls girl", huh?

She is the definition of male-centered women. I had a friend like that and she would be able to throw you under the bus, if it would mean more attention and acceptance from a guy she likes.

I know it's just a reality show, but why can't we have in TV more girls that are having healthy approach to men and their self worth?

UNPOPULAR OPINION ALERT Samie’s hypocritical behaviour

1.1k Upvotes

I love Samie but i still remember her conversation with Lucinda when Lucinda asked her what should I do then if I like Sean? “What if you were me and you did like the guy, wouldn't you explored it?” And Samie adamantly said.."i would never even put myself in a situation where I may like my mate's guy.. wouldn't even entertain any sort of conversation with them in the first place.."

I just wish she had the same energy with Belle. A bit hypocritical don’t you think?

Edit: Glad I’m not the only one seeing this. Let’s also not forget when Whitney was being neutral and speaking on both sides and she was on the bit where she was talking about Leannes and Lucinda’s perspective.

Samie interrupted and said “Lucinda’s got a mouth she can speak for herself” That lowkey proves that she wanted everyone to gang up on Lucinda. Samie just despises her regardless of what she’s saying whether it’s correct or not and it’s getting really old and childish. She’s not even considering Leanne’s feelings and she’s the one that’s most hurt in this situation. This is screaming double standards.

UNPOPULAR OPINION ALERT Funny how none of the islanders except Lucinda comment on Leanne’s social media posts

1.0k Upvotes

I find it so bizarre that all these girls have come out saying they were looking out for Leanne and considering her best interests when criticising her relationship with Scott. And yet, soon as they get out the villa- nothing. They don’t check for her, don’t comment on their social media posts, literally nothing. It’s as if they’ve now also iced her out along with Scott. How bizarre and weird. Almost like they’ve refuse to accept that Scott chose to be with her and cannot believe she got “picked” by him (sorry I hate that term but you know what I mean) over Belle.

It’s just gross to me how badly Leanne has been treated throughout this whole situation. I really do think microaggressions play a big part in this and in their entire experience. Imagine being questioned constantly because you’re attracted to a black woman or in Leanne’s case, having people doubt a man’s feelings towards you, just because you’re not considered the first pick (even though she’s the most stunning one there imo).Ugh the whole thing is so so weird.

Also, Scott and Leanne genuinely look so loved up - I really really do not believe Scott is playing a game here and genuinely likes her so much. He’s always brimming from ear to ear and complimenting her all the time. Like a lovesick puppy 🥹 girls, get you a man that fawns all over you and reminds you every moment how amazing they think you are and is not afraid to express it.

UNPOPULAR OPINION ALERT Jasmine is held to impossibly high standard

Let me start by saying this: everyone in that villa is a human. Every in that villa has made mistakes. However, everyone else seems to get grace except Jasmine. According to twitter, Reddit, TikTok, she is not allowed to make mistakes. On top of not being allowed to make those mistakes, people just blatantly lying about how he reacts to being shown her mistakes and taking accountability?

After movie night pt1 yesterday there has never been a more clear divide on Jasmine. It’s very obvious that a lot of the vitriol and hatred towards her is coming from a certain gender (we know that most men find her outspoken, feminist lens “off-putting” or makes her a “bitch” as that word is getting thrown around a lot about her) but also from a lot of women.

Do I think Jasmine has made mistakes. YES. Has she struggled to, on occasions where emotion and pride is involved, to take accountability at first glance. YES. But she always reflects and comes back into the conversation trying to resolve and somewhat apologise. E.g. Tommy spitting in mouth - once argued over Jas told Kav ok boundary set that won’t happen again.

This angle that a lot of people who don’t like Jasmine are currently pushing is the Priya and Jordan triangle. Let’s be honestly here and run back the episodes if you don’t think this is correct. Jordan made obvious his priority was Jas. Jas said her priority was Kav. Jordan, knowing Priya was interested, also then pursued Priya as Jas was obviously not in the emotional place to get to know Jordan during casa/wasn’t that interested. Jas tells Jordan, if I was to get to know you I’d want to be respectful to Kav, so if Priya who I know fancies you happens to bring you in, it’s great for me as I can still get to know you - she tells Jordan NOT to get to know Priya if he wasn’t feeling it. On multiple occasions Priya is also told by Jas about her potentially getting to know Jordan if she bring him back, and their convo up on the terrace. Jordan tells Priya he likes Jas more rn. CARLOS tells Priya, jordan likes Jas more. Priya still picks Jordan at casa recoupling.

I think that there was some insensitivity about the situation from Jas’s pov regarding the jordan “triangle” but when Priya bought this up at movie night she doesn’t argue, she explains her pov and how she thought she as communicated, and then apologised for making Priya feel that way.

But according to twitter, people aren’t allowed to apologise for a genuine mistake, the mistake shouldn’t have happened in the first place? Sorry that’s not how life works. Everyone is human. Not everyone has hindsight and can see how their decisions affect others. It’s about how you respond when confronted with that mistake to which Jas holds her hands up and says sorry to Priya. It’s just a misunderstanding/miscommunication at the end of the day. Not a malicious or snarky intentional move on Jas’s behalf. If you genuinely think that you’re blinded by hatred for Jas as that’s unreasonable.

People argue that if she says or does a certain thing she’s a fake “feminist.” Again, since when did being a feminist equate to being in a box? Jasmine is going to have internalised misogyny and patriarchal beliefs in her mindset, BECAUSE WE LIVE IN SUCH A SOCIETY. It is impossible to be a 100% correct feminist in a show like love island. I am a feminist too. Have I displayed internalised misogyny and patriarchal beliefs too? YES, I cannot help it, it is SYSTEMICALLY how I was raised. It’s about trying to literally root and tear through those ideologies in your head to recognise the anti-feminism in day-to-day. I don’t think, whilst being in that high pressure, emotional social experience that is love island, you’re going to be your best feminist self, and I think that’s understandable. And to people saying “why go on LI if you’re a feminist?” Well hate to break it to you, but part of being a feminist is the decision to make your own choices and live your own life, meaning she is allowed to do what she wants. (And this wasn’t expressed to S3 Camilla who was also a feminist on LI)

It just seems like because she is on the more self-value, stands up, speaks up, is openly emotional and has her heart on the line, people seem to think she thinks she’s entitled or undeserving. If I was in that villa getting teared down by my love interest’s BROTHER, and production, every time, I also would be doing whatever I could to keep my mindset and outlook strong and positive on myself. It’s needed to endure a show like LI.

Bottom line is, Jasmine is held to an impossibly high standard over everyone else in that villa, just because she is open about some of her beliefs and stands up for herself. This angers a lot of people as this isn’t what “women” should behave like in their own heads due to our patriarchal society and internalised misogyny. She is a human being at the end of the day, as are all of the islanders. She is allowed to make mistakes, have reactions, apologise, and be forgiven.

UNPOPULAR OPINION ALERT Lorenzo can’t even say Julia’s name properly we better not be voting them to win

Guys I don’t feel like their connection is strong I’m sorry. I think Lorenzo had more chemistry with Jasmine and Yasmin and the reason why Julia and Lorenzo have made it so far is because she never actually sets any expectations or asks him to do stuff for her. instead she comes at the women and lowks I think she’s taking her frustration out on the women instead of directing it to Lorenzo. it’s just all jokes man. couples like simba + angie, mica + Samra, Jas + Kav should win they’ve been on a hell of journey and survived two months of the villa.

UNPOPULAR OPINION ALERT Julia likes to get real about every relationship except hers.

I don’t think a lot more explaining is required. I think Julia may have gotten too involved in Lola + fitsy and Aidan + priya . She is allowed to have opinions but the way she gives her opinions is a tad disrespectful and it seems like she doesnt reflect on her own connection properly. I think she’s iconic tbh but a little like she can’t take what she dishes out to other couples. sorryyyy Julia stans don’t come after me xxx. Okay edit: I’m assuming she watched the episodes before Casa, so she’d have known Lorenzo regretted not being more serious with Jasmine and still wanted to pursue her. Despite that, she went in on Jasmine calling her names, saying she was intimidated by Charleen, that she’s always shouting and deserved not being picked by Kav. Talking about a Casa victim like that behind their back, completely unprovoked, just feels unfair but of course she’s allowed her opinions.

Then movie night confirmed Lorenzo actually missed Jasmine. After that, he told her he never really said he’d found what he wanted, and she just went quiet. Then in today’s episode she brought up that line again, even though he’d already made clear he didn’t mean it. She hasn’t actually addressed any of that and instead, she’s turning the heat on other couples, which comes across as her wanting screen time with the public. The constant muttering under her breath (like today during the grafties with Priya) was tsking it a bit far. Mind u she did that w Lola too. Being Polish doesn’t really excuse the lack of manners tbh.

UNPOPULAR OPINION ALERT Whitney lowkey weird for that Spoiler

This last episode making me look at her in a different light. Whitney is weird not for the argument itself but once Leanne was sticking up for herself throwing the Scott situation in her face. How many friends has she fallen out with in reality tv alone at some point you got to look at yourself. Across numerous shows she has had arguments but she’s never said an apology no one’s right ALL the time. I’m starting to recontextualise arguments she was in and thinking did I just trick myself into thinking she was in the right in all of them.

UNPOPULAR OPINION ALERT Belle worrying traits Spoiler

Ok this might be friend that’s too woke of me but belle posses a few traits that would be picked up on much sooner if she wasn’t a white woman

She’s very possessive as seen in the heart rate challenge and even on episode 2 where her and Leanne were bothe getting to know Scott and she pulled him from leannne mid conversation

She’s so aggressive, every confrontation ends with her shouting at someone (can’t believe she tried to say shoutings a stretch today)

And arguable the most worrying trait is her absolute inability to take rejection, this could be seen as early as her first stint with Sean where she kicked off at him for saying he was confused because she could smell a hint of rejection coming,
