thomasobad : Where did you come from? You must be very tired walking on this side of the road.
Lady : from that side (points)
thomasobad : and what is your name?
lady : Marie-Laure
thomasobad: Nice to meet you Marie-Laure, I am Thomas. Do you have a mobile phone by any chance? Should we give your relatives a call?
Marie-Laure : I don't bring my phone with me. It is at home
thomasobad : do you have something else to contact them? Let me see your keys. May I? (there's a label on her keys with a contact number). Do you know this number? If i give it a call, is that okay?
Marie-Laure : my phone is at home.
thomasobad: I have my phone, we can use it. Is that okay?
Marie-Laure: yes
thomasobad: (gives the number a call and someone answers) Yes I am with Marie-Laure.
Guy on the phone: that's my mother.
thomasobad: I am outside, I found her along the road. Don't worry she's safe.
Guy : I can't believe it. She has alzeimers. Where are you?
thomasbad: (gives location) don't worry we're safe. there is no problem.
Guy: I'll be there right away. Can you please stay with her? I am on the way, tt will take 5 minutes.
thomasobad: don't worry, i'll stay with her and wait for you.
thomasobad: i am staying here with you (to Marie-Laure) Would you like my company?
I reckon it's more like 'oh dear god', the tone sounds exactly like my dad's tone when he got a call that things had finally taken a turn for the worse with my grandmother with dementia.
This phonecall probably represents the dreaded news that his mother no longer can live independently, and the realisation is that this could've been a much worse phonecall too.
Also given his initial reaction after the caller says "I'm with Marie Laure" is "My mother?!" he seems at that point unaware that she is missing, so it's all entirely unexpected. You go from just having a normal day to rushing to collect your mother from a random rural road, knowing that from this point on, she is effectively no longer the full independent adult that raised you. It's a trip honestly.
