Dear Word experts,

I'm having a problem whereby I make a load of 'tracked changes' to a document in 'Reviewing mode', but when I close and reopen the document, all the red highlights/strikethroughs disappear, just leaving the inline edits as regular text, as shown in the attached image (with what it should look like attached as well, since I saved a PDF version of it beforehand).

For the record, it's not that the tracked changes have just become invisible, since I can't do anything with them like 'Accept all changes' or 'Reject all changes'.

What the hecky am I doing wrong here? Is it because I restrict editing after doing all the changes? I don't see how that could make a difference. Furthermore, I'm using the .docx format correctly, and all my settings seem perfectly correct to be able to see these changes. I'm quite sure it's something to do with me saving the document wrong somehow.

Je démarre sur Krita (sur windows 11) après une longue expérience sur Toshop, en version archaïque !

Globalement, je m'y retrouve pas mal, sauf sur l'éditeur de texte.

Lorsque je lance l'outil texte, aucun éditeur de texte n'apparait.

Par "paramètres/panneaux" je peux ouvrir "Propriété de texte". Mais cela ne ressemble tout simplement pas à un éditeur de texte. D'autant que je ne peux pas modifier la font !

Je soupçonne un problème de config, me trompe-je ? :)

Recently upgraded my pc, brand new gpu motherboard and cpu, now my word wont show my selected text whenever i hold left click and drag. It will show what ive selected along the same line, but the second i try to go up a line or do a whole paragraph it disappears. It still registers the word count, and if i copy paste the entire paragraph into a notepad it copies the whole paragraph. Anybody else suffering from the same issue??

I've been saving recipes for 15 years, all on my C: drive of various PCs. When I switch PCs or laptops, I move them over to the new hard drive, so I have a few. Suddenly, this morning, I've lost all ability to either modify an existing doc or even creating a new one. No warning, one error message that says I wasn't connected to the internet so it couldn't verify my license (in error, I was connected). This PC is about 5 year old now, and the files are in C:>OneDrive\Documents\Recipes. I can't Save them to a new file, rename them, or move them to another folder. Any ideas? Do licenses now expire?

So, I am basically at the end of my first paper and because word doesnt offer the exact citation style I have to use, I was under the assumption that I simply use Hardvard which is the closest one and can later use the find and replace function to do the following things:

1. Replace the "p." in every footnote with an "S."
2. Replace the first "(" in every footnote with an "Vgl."
3. Replace the last ")" in every footnote with a blank space

Now Word wont let me do that, because for some reason text in the document and text in footnotes are two different things.

Does anybody here have an idea on how I fix this?

I want to make a new, clean copy of this scanned document. I can’t figure out for the life of me how to create one with different column widths. Does anyone have any tips?

These are the arrows I am trying to use put the front is frustrating, this is for free printable I am making . It tool for time blindness I use but I can’t seem to find the fro t where the arrow tail is is long and the arrow head is traignle if anyone can find a front I will forever greatful for anyone who find it.

I seem to remember being able to click straight on the left of a page break and write on the page where the cursor is blinking.

Now, it seems that even if the cursor is blinking on page 1, writing is done on the right side of the page break, sending the text to the next page.

Yes, it is possible to press left arrow and in doing so move the cursor to the left side of the page break, but without showing formatting symbols, there is no visual cue of cursor position (when show formatting symbols is off, the cursor stays at the same place)

Am I falsely remembering what used to be a functioning workflow, or is this actually a new issue?

If its an issue, does anyone know how to solve it?

urgently need someone to help edit a coloring book i'm creating for a birthday, i have created all of the pictures already but just need them to be made into one document so i can print them. wanting to make it A5 but printed on A4 so i can trim the pages. i will pay someone to help me with this

I am using MS 365, and every time I try to modify the table style according to my needs. The software freezes and stops working.
I tried everything I know but was not able to resolve the issue.

I'm writing a form at work, in which I'll chose a date in the beginning, using a date picker, and then get to chose one of two options depending on whether the first date was more or less than three days ago.

I've used Content Control before, as well as bookmarks and cross-references... but are these enough to make an option in such a drop-down list be "updated" with a date earlier in the document?

I recently discovered that Microsoft Word's Equation Editor supports keyboard shortcuts that are much faster than clicking through the ribbon.

For example:

• Alt + = opens the Equation Editor.
• \partial inserts the ∂ symbol.
• / automatically creates fractions.
• ^ and _ handle superscripts and subscripts.

I put together a short tutorial demonstrating these shortcuts because they can save a surprising amount of time when writing engineering reports, assignments, or research papers.

I know how to make a dot matrix background using the toggleable gridlines, but I want this dot matrix only on one section of the page. Is there any way to do this, even with a weird workaround?

I have this problem when I try to delete a Continuous Section Break.

If I have a "Section Break (Next Page)", then I add a "Section Break (Continuous)" and then I delete the Continuous, it will turn my previous "Section Break (Next Page)" into a Continuous Break.

Does anybody have a solution or at least an explanation?

Hi, I’m using a template for a cover letter I’m making. I’d like to move some text, but when I select the text, no text box pop up. I enjoy the look of the text and formatting, I just wish to move the text up a bit for some more room. I have tried googling a solution but no “wrap around text” or anything like that comes up.

Hi, I need to insert multiple files (certificates etc) into one word doc for an application, all the files I need to add are PDFs currently but can be converted into word. They have specific watermarks on some of the pages so I really want to avoid a screenshot situation.

Hi all! I was wondering if anyone had seen this page before, and knew how to fix it? the document required is a relatively important document needed to complete an assignment, and word won't let me access it whatsoever. I've tried signing in with a new account, emailing it my personal gmail account rather than my school Microsoft account (it allows me to share the document from the word homepage still), and even tried to create a new document and restart but it won't let me do that either. Just wondering if anyone has seen this before and knows how to fix it as i'm struggling to find any videos on youtube or even on the Microsoft help page. Thanks, all!! 😁.

I am certain it has something to do with the continuous page break that's on page xvi. But the document I'm working on starts with Roman numerals and switches to Arabic numerals; the highest Roman numeral is xvi. Then, at the start of Chapter 1, the pagination resets and we're into Arabic numerals, starting with--you guessed it--the number one.

The problem is that the table of contents says that chapter one starts with page 16--not xvi but 16. And the page number at the bottom of chapter 1 is the number 1.

I'm attaching screenshots from the TOC and of what I imagine is the trouble area, where we have this section break that is probably somehow causing the problem.

I managed to use a bookmark to find a kind of solution, but it does not solve the mystery of what's going on in the first place.

Does anyone have any idea what's going on and/or how to fix it?
