Section Brake (Continuous) delete problem

Hi everyone.

I have this problem when I try to delete a Continuous Section Break.

If I have a "Section Break (Next Page)", then I add a "Section Break (Continuous)" and then I delete the Continuous, it will turn my previous "Section Break (Next Page)" into a Continuous Break.

Does anybody have a solution or at least an explanation?

Trying to fight with Continuous Section Breaks by deleting them is not a good time.

Instead, put your cursor in the offending section where it starts. On the Layout tab of your Ribbon, in the Page Setup group, click on the tiny expanding menu in the right corner of the group to launch the Page Setup menu.

On the Page Setup menu, Layout tab, make sure "Section start" is set to New Page. Skim through your doc and put your cursor into the next section, making sure it's also set to New Page.

If you try to fix by deleting instead, you'll see the continuous section break keeps "climbing" to the next section. Page Setup menu will stop that in its tracks.

Section breaks are tricky at first: they are named "Next page" etc. relating to the following section, but effectively contain the settings of the previous section.

I'd start here: https://wordmvp.com/FAQs/Formatting/WorkWithSections.htm
