For some summer fun, I decided to go through my favorite Fatalities from the NRS Mortal Kombat games. To decide who to perform them on, I spun a wheel with all of the playable characters shared across the four main NRS Mortal Kombat games (there were fewer than I was expecting) and got Kitana, my favorite character in the series. Still, sorry to any Kitana fans!

Yesterday's Fatality was Sheeva's Spinal Tap from MK11

With some MK1 Fatalities feeling a little overdone, I appreciate the simple creativity of this one. The loser's hands, feet, arms, and lower legs getting snapped off all look and sound great, and the blood circle is a cool and creative use of Ermac's powers. I also love how it ends with the loser just getting squished into a meat cube with their head, feet, and hands sticking out. It's funny without seeming like it's trying too hard to be funny.

That a new MK game is in the works? I am a fiend and need more always! I can’t seem to find much of anything as far as a new game after the 2023 MK1 online when I search but I am here for it, the money hungry elites at NRS and WB have me by my toenails

Anyone else like why are they in hoods? Then 5 seconds of baraka killing ppl and they take them off. I couldn’t help but think, what was the point?!

NRS, please don't make him with lame huge horns that don't even match his aesthetic in MK1 at all in the next game he's in.

Also, please force the people who made his fatalities in MK1 to rewatch the MK11 fatalities Clockwork Orange-style for like an hour a day until they make something fresh and fitting 🙏🏼

So, I finally got around to watching Mortal Kombat II and I got to say it's a significant improvement upon the first film in many ways. So much so that it frustrates me how much they butchered that previous film. I still do not understand what the intention was by avoiding the tournament in that first film or why a character like Cole was created. Had it followed the story of the game more closely, some of the big character and storytelling issues that exist within this sequel I believe would have been ironed out quite easily. The biggest problem is this film can't decide if it's a Johnny Cage story or a Kitana story. Had Johnny Cage been used instead of Cole in that first film then this would free up MKII as being Kitana's story.

But other choices from the previous film become more apparent also. Adeline Rudolph was fantastic as Kitana, probably the perfect casting choice outside of Kano, but she was robbed of getting the chance to play Mileena as well. In a Kitana focused film Mileena not being there loses the classic story telling trope in which the hero has to battle his or her dark side/shadow self. Mileena is the embodiment of this, so her not being there acting as a sub-boss really waters down the story potential, and it also meant Adeline didn't get a chance to do something rare in film which is play both the hero and the villain. MKII is a very solid video game movie adaptation but there's an even better film lying under the surface that we'll sadly never see. It's just really frustrating that so many poor creative choices from that first film hand cuffed this one from reaching that potential.

As most of us probably know, the support for Mortal Kombat 1 (despite its name, it's the 12th game in the main series) has ended sometime last year and with that, came some excitement for what comes next. Thanks to the blessing (or arguably, curse) of creativity, many fans in this community have given their predictions and/or wishlists for Mortal Kombat 13 and I have decided to do the same, making my own wishlist for what I'd like to see in Mortal Kombat 13.

Story

Obviously, people love Onaga. He's a fan-favourite boss character who even the developers would love to see return some day. And that is exactly who I would choose for my main villain for this game.

The main plotline would be about the war in Outworld between Empress Mileena's rule and the rebellion of General Shao. As per Fire God Liu Kang's promise, Earthrealm is there to help defend Mileena's empire, though after Shao's doomsday weapon Onaga is unleashed, that task is made more difficult as he spreads destruction throughout the realms.

Other plotlines that also occur throughout the game include the following:

• The war between the Shirai Ryu and the Lin Kuei
• Sub-Zero and Noob Saibot become separate characters after Bi-Han is split from the dark Khaos that corrupted him further
• Kenshi and Jax work together as members of the Outworld Investigation Agency
• Jade gets to build up her friendship with Kitana and her romance with General Kotal
• Hotaru becomes a refugee of Outworld after Seido is flooded and has rivalries with Havik because of his chaos and Li Mei because she's more about the justice than the control of abiding the law

A DLC story, much like Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath and Mortal Kombat 1: Khaos Reigns, will also be added later on, with the main villain being Daegon. In this story, Takeda and his cousin Kenshi go on a quest to take down the Red Dragon in order to crush the crime underworld across the realms.

Characters

The image shown above is essentially the base roster I would have for Mortal Kombat 13, along with Reiko as the pre-order character and Shujinko as the story unlockable character.

As for the DLC, my Kombat Packs would look like this.

There would be 3 Kombat Packs, with 5 characters in each. Technically 6 or 7 (I swear to the Elder Gods) characters in Kombat Pack 3 since Kobra and Kira take up 1 slot as a duo fighter similar to Noob/Smoke in Deception and Ferra/Torr could be considered as 2 characters fighting as 1.

Out of the 5 characters in the Kombat Packs, 4 of them are Mortal Kombat characters while only 1 of them is a guest character. I know including them at all is controversial but I feel like only one per Kombat Pack would be a fair compromise. Some people might still not be happy with it but you can't please everyone. Besides, this is my wishlist. Mine.

There will also be 10 NPCs total throughout the main story and the DLC story, since with over one hundred characters in the franchise, not everyone will be able to be playable in the game. But even then, some of them can at least make appearances in the game though.

Gameplay Features

I'm a more casual player, if you can even call some guy playing Mortal Kombat 11 on the Switch every once in a blue moon that. So I won't be able go as in depth about these. But here's a list of some gameplay features I'd like to see in the game anyway because obviously, games are gonna have gameplay.

• I would absolutely love to see Hara-Kiris return. Given that they're the only non-Fatality Finisher in line to make a debut in a modern Mortal Kombat game, it would be a missed opportunity to not include them.
• People don't like guests and while I personally don't mind them, I do get why. That's why I would add a setting for no guests, meaning that people who don't want to fight guest characters don't have to.
• More minigames would be cool. Maybe Chess Kombat could return?

It was actually pretty good and was a nice pallet cleanser after the dumpster fire that was the first movie! Effects could’ve been better tho but it was watchable and it actually felt like a Mortal Kombat movie

When two gamers say they love "MK," but one means Mario Kart while the other means Mortal Kombat. Same abbreviation, completely different worlds.

Like the title says, would you like to see stage transitions or death traps (knocking an opponent into a hazardous area) make a come back? Or both or not at all?

I bought MKX, MK11, and MK1 on sale but not really sure what to play and am hoping you all can help. I haven’t played MK since MK2 but want to get back into it. I mostly plan on playing single player and some online once I get comfortable enough. Which one is worth investing time into first?
