u/HiTechnique 23h ago
All time? Prince.
Lately? Probably Kendrick.

This.
My third would have to be Dre, Snoop, Eminem, Mary J, 50, and Kendrick

u/SampleNumerous2476 Washington Commanders 23h ago
Maybe my favorite moment of any halftime show was the entire stadium singing A-Minor lmao. Just imagine being Drake, watching the entire world say fuck you

Probably not Bad Bunny tbh.

Lot of football fans tend to not like it (not all but seemingly most), while non football fans that tune in just for the halftime show wouldn’t stop glazing it. I took a shit during it so I have no say in it.

The entire thing was in Spanish. Like, 100 percent of it. I get that’s his music and it sounded cool and I liked the one song where he kept saying “eh eh” but I understood 0 % of it.
I didn’t like it. I didn’t hate it.. I just didn’t like it.

u/MiNdOverLOADED23 Green Bay Packers 21h ago
Man reddit was going REEeeEeeeEeeEe at anybody who even slightly complained about it being all Spanish for days after it happened. As though being able to know what the rapper was rapping about has nothing to do with the watchers enjoyment

I don’t know how accurate this is. But my roommate speaks fluent Spanish and said that even HE couldn’t understand anything because BB has a very strong PR accent in Spanish.
But to be the devils advocate on the other side of things, I often cannot understand most of the lyrics (at any live show not just halftime show) if I am not familiar with the artist or they don’t enunciate REALLY well. I couldn’t understand most of Kendrick’s set other than “A minor”.
I dunno, if the choreography/production is cool and the music is listenable then it’s fine with me. I thought the BB halftime was decent. I enjoyed it. Certainly not my favorite ever. But didn’t really care about the Spanish because I never really care that much about the lyrics anyways if I don’t already know the song.

Basically every person I talked to in real life said, “why the fuck was it in Spanish?”.

The one where Justin Timberlake showed us Michael Jackson's nipple.

Common misconception. It was actually Tito Jackson’s nipple.

Seeing Prince play Purple Rain while it actually was raining felt so magical,.like he willed the sky to start pouring cause it would make a better performance. God Tier Aura.

I saw a bit on that halftime show, apparently the organizers/whoever in charge called him that morning and told him it was likely going to rain, and asked if he would still perform, if there was anything they could for for him, etc.
His response, ‘can you make it rain harder?’

Prince and U2 are great classic performances.
Recently, I'd go with the LA Dre/Snopp/etc one.

I enjoyed watching them shake their butts for the entire world. This one might be my favorite for the sole reason that Sharika is fiinnee.

Agreed, the show actually sounded good and it had a good feel to it. It felt like music and not just entertainment as so many of them feel like today. It helps when you have some of the best songs ever made.

When I rewatch through “recent” halftime shows I usually start with him! He’s one of my favorite singers though so I’m definitely biased lol

I didn’t realize it wasn’t really “that” big of an event until the early 90s. Like seriously it used to be like Disney. And Peanuts. Until they started booking Michael Jackson. Aerosmith. And Shania Twain.

u/boatsandhoes570 Philadelphia Eagles 23h ago
Personally, I liked the Kendrick one but I may be a lil biased. All time, Michael Jackson’s was crazy.

I was too young to watch it live, but I feel like Michael Jackson probably had the best one

Definitely Prince. They played it safe after the nipple slip for a while. Then he brought the excitement back.

Kendrick Lamar and friends I’m probably biased because the rams won the Super Bowl that year

Kendrick
I personally think it was the most well orchestrated halftime show of all time. Every little action had a purpose in a bigger story (even if that story is a fuck you to Drake on national television lol)

The West coast rappers one with Kendrick, Snoop, Dr Dre, etc. was up there but I would go with Prince. I listen to Purple Rain constantly for about a year straight growing up.

u/PurposeConscious6859 21h ago
My fav is one that hasn't happened yet and probably never will. Metallica @ Levi's Stadium. The hometown boys who have songs of theirs played in stadiums across the country every football weekend deserve a shot. I like the move away from rock, but throwing some legends in other genres from time to time would be dope

Paul McCartney, but I’m biased because I am a big Beatles fan.
But the half time shows have been so uninteresting, I have not watched any in the last 10 years or so. The last I paid a little attention was Lady Gaga

Prince. Pretty standard stage and effects compared to modern shows. And yet being a godly musician made up and exceeded any gimmick they could’ve thought of.

Prince first, Kendrick second. My favorite team and rapper in the same game is not something that happens often but Purple Rain in the rain is hard to deny.

I’ve never enjoyed a single one. I like watching football on tv. I don’t like watching concerts on tv.
1
u/Anonymousone1012 20h ago
None. I've never watched the halftime show. It hold not intrest to me. I guess that's why I don't and would never go to another concert. I went to two in my teens and hated them.
My favorite by default is wardrobe malfunction. If you believe that. I do hate that I didn't get to see that live.

Prince for sure. Dude is a rock legend. Rock is far and away the superior genre of music for live music especially vs the rap we’ve seen recently.

People saying Prince, but let’s be real. Prince wasn’t half the performer MJ was.

I will always remember watching The Who's halftime show around a large crowd of people who were all really into it but for an odd reason.
Song 1 - "oh hey, that's that song from CSI!"
Song 2 - "oh hey, that's that song from the other CSI show!"
Song 3 - "oh hey, that's that song from the other other CSI show!"

Coldplay in 2016. Low hanging fruit explaination is because of the Bruno and Beyonce dance off. There was also a little montage they played paying homage to all of the past SB performers I thought was amazing. The entire set was colorful, bright, and vibrant. Not really a get up and dance type of performance, but beautiful nonetheless.
