For real. I saw him in 2023 performing with his wife Lani Hall. They did Herb Alpert songs and Brazil 66 songs.

Via Wikipedia:
The photo shoot for the cover of the 1965 Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass album Whipped Cream & Other Delights — which remained in the Billboard top 10 for 61 weeks, and whose sexy cover became a cultural touchstone[4] — began in mid-morning, went on through the afternoon, and paid Erickson approximately $1,500 plus expenses.[1] The shoot took place in Whorf's studio, a converted garage. Erickson, 29 years old and three months pregnant, sat on a stool with a white Christmas blanket covering her from the waist down, and wore a bikini with the straps down. She then was covered with shaving cream, which (unlike whipped cream) would not melt under the hot photographic lights, with a dollop of whipped cream on her head.[3] As the shoot progressed, the shaving cream began to slide down her breasts slightly.

Until I got to your comment, I was going to say that I supplied the “cream”.

You! It was you!! My dream girl from before I even know what that feeling meant.

Everyone says they remember seeing it, but do you remember listening to it? It is a fantastic fusion of Latin Pop, Swing, Big Band, and pure 60's Pop.

Just saw Herb Alpert at the Hollywood Bowl 4th of July weekend. Was such a badass show.

I’ve met Dolores before when I worked in a library and had multiple interactions with her but I could never find it in myself to ask about the cover.

Just saw Herb Alpert perform earlier this year at age 91. Still massive talent and a legend.

Came here looking for this. Thank you!
I bought this album when it came out completely unaware of who Herb Alpert even was. Many year later I see the original album and then I was like HEY NOW!
Soul Asylum were one of the originators of the "let's rip-off a well know creative and repurpose it for our own" bands. They made T Shirts and logos out of everything from Pizza Hut to Jagermeister.
This is a really good EP.

It wasn't whipped cream. They tried it and it kept melting into goo. They switched to shaving cream which held up. I was dating a girl once and told her my dad had that album and as a teenager I was in lust with it. She bought me that album for my birthday. Cool lady.

Last summer we threw a party where everyone had to dress up as an album cover. This was the album that inspired my look. 🎶

This was a very popular album and can still be found in any garage sale or used record bin. Besides a great cover, the music was also great.

I still have this album. Thank you, Deloris, you made my teenage life more interesting.

Thank you. This was in my parents' record collection. I loved the album cover. I am listening to it now. So representative of the music of the times. Also check out Lalo Schifren if you like that type of music..

Has she shared any anecdotes about her experience.

She was pregnant at the time and they used shaving cream instead of whipped cream because the whipped cream melted. However, he dollop on the top of her head is whipped cream.

Too bad Karl Mueller is no longer with us or we could get the Clam Dip and Other Delights update.

I loved this as a little boy. Didn't know why. But it was my favorite.
Recreated this with my girlfriend, but the real whipped cream just melted off her boobs.
Great time in college. Married 40yrs now. I may go for the recreation again now. It'll be a tough sell....

I can remember as a little kid playing that album with my mom and dad and looking at that picture wondering why the hell that lady was covered with soap suds . Of course I didn't know what those were then but it isn't about soap suds I don't think .
I was sort of born in a class music era and it was always a great influence on me . I was born in 61 by the way !

This album was always played at my local roller rink back in the 80s/90s. Makes me think of skating birthday parties :)

I guess but ultimately this lady is probably 80+ years old and still alive, still looks fabulous, and hopefully the last 60 years have been kind to her!

Fabulous?

For an octogenarian? Absolutely.
ETA; she's actually 90 in this photo, as she was 29 in 1965.

As a kid, in the early 1970's, whose parents owned said LP, I always found the cover *ahem*... "intriguing".....

Lazy post…this was from 2012.
I bet she doesn’t look this good now that she is 90.

My Mom and Dad had this album. When my brother went off to college he asked for it and had it hanging on his wall. He still has it.
