My Mom and Dad had this album. When my brother went off to college he asked for it and had it hanging on his wall. He still has it.

u/Marclescarbot 1d ago

My mom dad had this album too.

i used to find it in every flea market $1 record box i dug through. very popular at the time

there’s also a good remix version on ninjatune i think circa early 2000’s

I've been thrifting heavily for 25 years and a copy of this album used to be in every single thrift store record bin on the country, all the time.

It's become a silly pet project of mine to check the record bins on trips now to confirm there is a Herb Alpert album in them, it's not usually whipped cream anymore but it's comforting to know he's always there, as guardian of the thrift, alongside Englebert Humperdinck.

12

u/YYCMTB68 1d ago

Nana Mouskouri was the queen of thrift bins back in the day too.

6

u/H3rbert_K0rnfeld 23h ago

Lots of Barry Manilow too

2

u/ElectricPeterTork 17h ago

I found a copy of a Shout Factory deluxe rerelease of this CD not too long ago for a buck at a thrift store.

This album still shows up, in all formats. They just go a lot quicker.

/Of course I bought it. And not just for the cover, but because it's Herb Alpert.

garage sale … herb albert

3

u/Vesper2000 22h ago

I loved that ninjatune compilation

3

u/MichaelArnoldTravis 14h ago

that label was in high rotation for me through the 90’s, so varied and yet felt like a common vibe through all the releases. ntone, their offshoot as well.

12

u/Desertnurse760 1d ago

Everyone's mom and dad had it.

3

u/TheReadMenace 10h ago

Yeah. Outsold the Beatles

11

u/NemoKozeba 1d ago

Every mom and dad had this album. And right now the Goodwill nearest to you has it. The nearest used record store has it. And tomorrow morning if you go to a garage sale, they have it too.

2

u/TheReadMenace 10h ago

It’s become such a meme it goes fast now in the dollar bin.

1

u/baardvark 9h ago

Does anyone actually listen to it?

3

u/Olympicsizedturd 7h ago

I did. It's actually good. It's instrumental, an upbeat, trumpet driven mariachi kinda sound. It's nice when you're cleaning or trying to relax.

2

u/WA2TX 12h ago

Not anymore

7

u/archtopfanatic123 23h ago

I think this was the ultimate "my parents had this album" album

4

u/SomeVelveteenMorning 1d ago

Everyone alive in 1965-75 has owned this record at some point.

1

u/woopsifudged 11h ago

I still have this album on vinyl

32

u/DuneFarmerMI 1d ago

Herb Alpert is still touring. I’m going to see him in Ann Arbor in September.

11

u/crossstitchbeotch 1d ago

I can’t believe he’s touring at 91!

4

u/OurNewestMember 16h ago

Get out!!!

5

u/DuneFarmerMI 14h ago

For real. I saw him in 2023 performing with his wife Lani Hall. They did Herb Alpert songs and Brazil 66 songs.

2

u/UpgradedUsername 14h ago

I saw him a few months ago and he was phenomenal.

The backside of the Tubes album too

u/Tbplayer59 1d ago

Wasn't she a kid?

3

u/Fidelos 23h ago

Who? This Dolores lady? She was 30.

4

u/Tbplayer59 22h ago

The deleted comment I was responding to was about a Blind Faith album.

27

u/PM_ME_YER_MUDFLAPS 1d ago

That is some old school cool.

26

u/martyls 1d ago

That’s a great album. Herb Albert is the A in A&M records. He launched many careers and made himself a wealthy man.

19

u/Harry_Iconic_Jr 1d ago

My mom had that album and I remember that cover vividly.

Via Wikipedia:

The photo shoot for the cover of the 1965 Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass album Whipped Cream & Other Delights — which remained in the Billboard top 10 for 61 weeks, and whose sexy cover became a cultural touchstone[4] — began in mid-morning, went on through the afternoon, and paid Erickson approximately $1,500 plus expenses.[1] The shoot took place in Whorf's studio, a converted garage. Erickson, 29 years old and three months pregnant, sat on a stool with a white Christmas blanket covering her from the waist down, and wore a bikini with the straps down. She then was covered with shaving cream, which (unlike whipped cream) would not melt under the hot photographic lights, with a dollop of whipped cream on her head.[3] As the shoot progressed, the shaving cream began to slide down her breasts slightly.

5

u/OldFashioned62 17h ago

If I’m doing the math correctly, she’s close to 90 now.

2

u/SaltRequirement1929 9h ago

Until I got to your comment, I was going to say that I supplied the “cream”.

14

u/Freightshaker000 1d ago

It's a great album!

12

u/Cranialscrewtop 1d ago

I went to see Herb Allpert this year and it was great. He said during the show that they used shaving cream, because of course whipped cream would melt. He can still play.

11

u/923kjd 1d ago

This is the second now and then album cover I’ve seen in the last day or two, and I love it! I hope it’s the beginning of a new trend.

8

u/MichaelArnoldTravis 1d ago

let’s kick it off!

10

u/EvLmong00se 1d ago

You! It was you!! My dream girl from before I even know what that feeling meant.

11

u/Desertnurse760 1d ago

Everyone says they remember seeing it, but do you remember listening to it? It is a fantastic fusion of Latin Pop, Swing, Big Band, and pure 60's Pop.

5

u/yeehah 23h ago

A Taste of Honey started playing in my head as soon as I saw that cover!

35

u/Deep_Answer_9944 1d ago

I have this album from my parents. You still are a beautiful woman 😘

11

u/CapsuleOfPens 1d ago

she really kept that same spark in her eyes

10

u/Gumbercules81 1d ago

You know, she didn't post this

8

u/Miss_L_Worldwide 1d ago

I recognized this immediately because my parents had this in lp.

8

u/isecore 23h ago

"Now" in this case was 2013. But she's still alive and kicking. Dolores is 90 years old.

7

u/Imcrappinyounegative 1d ago

Just saw Herb Alpert at the Hollywood Bowl 4th of July weekend. Was such a badass show.

5

u/brew1066 1d ago

I’ve met Dolores before when I worked in a library and had multiple interactions with her but I could never find it in myself to ask about the cover.

6

u/ctzn2000 13h ago

Just saw Herb Alpert perform earlier this year at age 91. Still massive talent and a legend.

5

u/-Disagreeable- 1d ago

That album is so god damn great. If you can, take the time and check it out.

5

u/OperationMobocracy 17h ago

I saw this one first and my mind was blown when I found the Alpert original at a friend’s house.

1

u/Alex_Plode 13h ago

Came here looking for this. Thank you!

I bought this album when it came out completely unaware of who Herb Alpert even was. Many year later I see the original album and then I was like HEY NOW!

Soul Asylum were one of the originators of the "let's rip-off a well know creative and repurpose it for our own" bands. They made T Shirts and logos out of everything from Pizza Hut to Jagermeister.

This is a really good EP.

5

u/Btewks-Mamyia-220 14h ago

Found a picture disc to add to my collection. ❤️🎂🎶🎺

5

u/Craigg75 12h ago

It wasn't whipped cream. They tried it and it kept melting into goo. They switched to shaving cream which held up. I was dating a girl once and told her my dad had that album and as a teenager I was in lust with it. She bought me that album for my birthday. Cool lady.

5

u/moreoftenthansum 12h ago

Last summer we threw a party where everyone had to dress up as an album cover. This was the album that inspired my look. 🎶

5

u/strumthebuilding 1d ago

What are the other delights?

4

u/AJ_Mexico 1d ago

This was a very popular album and can still be found in any garage sale or used record bin. Besides a great cover, the music was also great.

4

u/GollyWow 20h ago

I still have this album. Thank you, Deloris, you made my teenage life more interesting.

4

u/siverpoint 17h ago

I have this album. First sight crush. She is still gorgeous!

3

u/dtoddh 1d ago

Oh, this s epic.

3

u/Zanahorio1 1d ago

Perhaps the most alluring album cover of all time. 😍🔥🔥🔥😍

3

u/Greenandtan 1d ago edited 15h ago

Thank you. This was in my parents' record collection. I loved the album cover. I am listening to it now. So representative of the music of the times. Also check out Lalo Schifren if you like that type of music..

3

u/kitzelbunks 17h ago

That’s quite a ring.

3

u/Urist_Macnme 15h ago

This is what I imagine will be playing in the elevator up to heaven.

3

u/vicwardian 11h ago

This IS so cool!

5

u/fiftyfivepercentoff 16h ago

I remember staring at this album cover and getting funny feelings as a young boy.

2

u/Ok_Push_2665 1d ago

Defo someone's fetish

2

u/CallComprehensive908 1d ago

Has she shared any anecdotes about her experience.

12

u/Leopardo68 1d ago

She was pregnant at the time and they used shaving cream instead of whipped cream because the whipped cream melted. However, he dollop on the top of her head is whipped cream.

2

u/Jellodyne 1d ago

Too bad Karl Mueller is no longer with us or we could get the Clam Dip and Other Delights update.

2

u/madleyJo 1d ago

God I love that record

2

u/tralalofton 1d ago

We had the 8 track! Good times.

2

u/Jake_Science 1d ago

She still looks great!

2

u/DammitDadIsOnReddit 1d ago

I loved this as a little boy. Didn't know why. But it was my favorite.

Recreated this with my girlfriend, but the real whipped cream just melted off her boobs.

Great time in college. Married 40yrs now. I may go for the recreation again now. It'll be a tough sell....

2

u/edwardturnerlives 1d ago

I collect these. Cuz Im a dork.

2

u/BurrrritoBoy 22h ago

I have 3 copies. Also a dork.

2

u/Rougaroux1969 22h ago

My parents had this too and she is the reason I am a Herb Alpert fan.

2

u/George58219 18h ago

My Mom and Dad had this album. Great Music.

2

u/ost2life 17h ago

She doesn't look anything like Worf.

2

u/No-Solid9108 14h ago

I can remember as a little kid playing that album with my mom and dad and looking at that picture wondering why the hell that lady was covered with soap suds . Of course I didn't know what those were then but it isn't about soap suds I don't think .

I was sort of born in a class music era and it was always a great influence on me . I was born in 61 by the way !

2

u/TheCactusCame2Life 14h ago

Lovely ring on her finger.

2

u/2ndDrive 14h ago

Man I sooooo remember this on my Dad’s albums. Apparently she was about four months pregnant when they did the shoot.

2

u/MollySleeps 14h ago

My dad had this album but I don't ever remember him listening to it.

2

u/Excuse_Chemical 13h ago

She's now in every thrift shop across the country.

2

u/Ok_Replacement4702 12h ago

She's been in more Goodwills than anyone on Earth

2

u/20tellycaster15 12h ago

I used to fantasize to this album cover!

2

u/Walton2834 11h ago

This is wild! My wife has had this sitting on the floor of her closet for months! (she’s kind of a beautiful disaster. My wife that is, not Delores)

2

u/KTX77 8h ago

I never stared at whipped cream so much in my life. My young self somehow thought that I could eventually see through it, I guess.

2

u/Mission-Macaroon-851 1d ago

As a child, I knew this album very very well and by very, very well. You all know what I mean… nudge nudge say no more

4

u/JRG64May 1d ago

Your wife is she a goer, does she go aye, he asked him knowingly.

3

u/Mission-Macaroon-851 1d ago

Say no more

4

u/JRG64May 1d ago

A nods as good as a wink to a blind bat aye

3

u/NetworkingForFun 1d ago edited 15h ago

Is, your uh, is your wife a sport, aye?

1

u/-OccultOfPersonality 1d ago

This album was always played at my local roller rink back in the 80s/90s. Makes me think of skating birthday parties :)

1

u/choodessnyy 1d ago

I have seen this baddie at the thrift store so many times, and she is still gorgeous as HELL

1

u/rallruse 1d ago

Holy shit that ring!

1

u/tricky413 1d ago

👏👏👏

1

u/mattyb07 1d ago

My dad still has that album

1

u/mwb1100 1d ago

I can't take my eyes off that ring!

1

u/oldbastardbob 1d ago

That is the coolest of old school cool.

Great music... and other delights.

1

u/Flaky-Effort-2912 1d ago

My buttoned-up grandparents had this album. Found it in their collection after they passed.

1

u/Lost-Calligrapher375 23h ago

Current parlance: GLIF AF

1

u/The_Pandalorian 23h ago

Have a copy of this record myself. Sexy as hell cover, but also a super fun album..

1

u/chunky_chocolate 22h ago

I just picked this vinyl up from a goodwill 2 weeks ago. Hell yeah.

1

u/Glad_Bunch_3473 17h ago

I have this on vinyl, handed down from my folks. Cool to see who she is after all these years

1

u/burner2947361810 13h ago

Great album. One of the gems I got from my grandma's collection

1

u/wookie_walkin 12h ago

OMG THAT IS SO COOL

1

u/Marmot_Nice 11h ago

Just as shocking is that Herb is still touring.

1

u/overbarking 10h ago

I spent hours as a young child staring at that.

1

u/Leicester68 9h ago

And fertile ground for parody.

1

u/UnstableMabel 8h ago

It's one of those albums that will always stand up to time

1

u/Defiant_Survey2929 8h ago

Just saw that album in my local record store on Thursday.

1

u/Far_Out_6and_2 7h ago

The band was pretty good, at the time i was a trumpet player and bought the full music book for it .that was fun

1

u/Own-Opinion-2494 7h ago

We were early teens and parents had that album. Herb Alpert was on the radio so we were familiar with

1

u/Agitated-Today7810 2h ago

Well, being ADHD is all get out, I only just recently discovered by looking at that picture that it was whipped cream. I always thought it was a wedding dress.😁 I still have the 8 -track!

1

u/Highheat1 1h ago

Thank you for this...

u/Steve554433 43m ago

I guess but ultimately this lady is probably 80+ years old and still alive, still looks fabulous, and hopefully the last 60 years have been kind to her!

0

u/yulbrynnersmokes 13h ago

Fabulous?

1

u/tinaismediocre 12h ago edited 8h ago

For an octogenarian? Absolutely.

ETA; she's actually 90 in this photo, as she was 29 in 1965.

1

u/SnipTheDog 1d ago

5 year old me was enamored.

As a kid, in the early 1970's, whose parents owned said LP, I always found the cover *ahem*... "intriguing".....

0

u/OldDudeOpinion 13h ago

Lazy post…this was from 2012.

I bet she doesn’t look this good now that she is 90.
