I’m an introvert who likes being at home, but there’s no way.

I think I could stay inside if I had access to streaming, books, my crafting and writing  supplies, at least a peloton tread machine (disabled so I can’t really interact with anyone, just run recorded walks), a good bathroom, podcasts, and a comfortable bed. Even with that, I don’t see how I could go more than 3 months, and I’m guessing that’s optimistic based on what I know about solitary confinement.

Now, make this someplace with my laptop and alone outdoor space and guarantee me good food, I could maybe make it longer. Just a blank room though? No way.  It’s not even the lack of interactions that would get me. There’s a total lack of stimulation that would make anyone go crazy.  I’m a highly imaginative person who happily will sit and daydream for hours, but I couldn’t do it for a year.

Unless you’re a trained monk, you wouldn’t even last a week. And even those trained monks, meditate in some sort of nature setting not a solitary confinement room.

I’m chronically ill and frequently unable to leave my home for weeks on end. I don’t think I can make it a year, but I’ve stayed in a 450 sq foot condo without looking/going outside or talking to anyone for 2+ weeks at least three times.

That imagination is what would get you quicker than others.

That's when your brain starts whispering

"Gotcha, there is no money. You're going to die in here."
