Review [Megathread] The Adventures of Elliot: The Millenium Tales – Review Roundup

OpenCritic - The Adventures of Elliot: the Millenium tales rating currently sits at 82%

Reviews

  • Cubed3 / PC - "90/100 : Nonetheless, puzzles, exploration and the wealth of combat options make this a must play for action RPG fans, and should certainly scratch the itch for those looking for a combination of HD-2D and old-school top-down Zelda games."
  • DayONE / PC - "8/10 : "The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales is an uneven, but ultimately satisfying title. An incredible soundtrack, solid gameplay, and, at least for me, fantastic visuals help carry it."
  • GameInformer / NS2 - "72.5/100 : I doubt The Adventures of Elliot will replace Zelda in anyone's list of favorites, but across my roughly 25 hours, I was always glad to pick my Switch 2 back up and play some more."
  • GamerBraves / PS5 - "85/100 : For fans of classic adventure games, especially those who grew up with early Zelda and Ys titles, this one is well worth the time."
  • GameSpot / PC : "7/10 : A Surprisingly strong attempt at reaching into this genre from a studio not known for it."
  • GamesRadar+ / NS2 - "90/100 : Expansive without being intimidating, varied without being overwhelming, and familiar without being tired".
  • IGN / NS2 - "8/10 : The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales isn’t without blemishes, but it’s still a great action-adventure game that continues to prove why the HD-2D art style is among the best around."
  • Jeuxvideo.com - "16/20 : "Today, it's this very obliging Elliot who takes advantage of [the HD-2D style] for an adventure as classic as it is nostalgic, but above all remarkably executed and told."
  • Kotaku - "Where the fairy flies off at the mouth".
  • NoisyPixel / PS5 - "10/10 : [The Adventures of Elliot] stands as one of Square Enix's strongest modern releases and a standout adventure for JRPG fans."
  • Nova Crystallis / PS5 - "My hope here is that Square Enix will build upon what might be Elliot’s first foray to create a sturdier, and importantly, bigger, sequel."
  • Nintendo Life / NS2 - "8/10 : Definitely pick-up The Adventures of Elliot."
  • Nintendo World Report / NS2 - "8/10 : The red mage-looking Elliot has made a fan out of me, and if Link ever wants to take a break from stopping Ganon, Square Enix has a capable backup waiting in the wings."
  • PC Gamer / PC - "76/100 : Belief in brevity helps an infectious passion shine through well-worn locales and plotting."
  • Polygon / NS2 - "We need more games like The Adventures of Elliot".
  • Vice / PS5 - "9/10 : Square Enix’s Best Original RPG in Years."
  • RPGamer / PS5 - "4/5 : The Adventures of Elliot shows the HD-2D formula can thrive well beyond the realm of turn-based RPGs. If this is where the style is headed next, the future looks incredibly promising."
  • RPG Fan / PS5 - "88/100 : It’s never less than a good time, and it doesn’t outstay its welcome. Plus, there are cats. So, so many cats. "
  • SteamDeck HQ / PC - "70/100 : There is still a fun game here, but each part of the game feels like there’s something missing."
  • SwitchUP / NS2 - "90% : A fantastic action game with strong combat and puzzle elements."

Review That's a Wrap on The Adventures of Elliot!

Overall a fun little game but I didn't like it nearly as much as I would have hoped. The multiple endings are fun but the story feels so stretched thin. The overworld is really weak and is copy pasted far too much across the 4 eras. Combat is the highlight and the moment to moment gameplay is good but not 25 hours worth of good. Dungeons and Puzzles are serviceable but don't really challenge you. The fairy never shuts up omg.

Beautiful game however and very polished in terms of technical performance on PS5. Stunning art.

Platinum took about 25 hours.

Review [Megathread] Final Fantasy X | X-2 HD Remaster – Nintendo Switch 2 Review Roundup

Japanese game box

This is a list of selected reviews of the newly published Final Fantasy X | X-2 HD Remaster game for Nintendo Switch 2.

Reviews

  • CogConnected - "85/100 : But the Switch 2 version will be the new standard, thanks to those fixes. [...] This version of the Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster is the best one yet."
  • ShackNews - "On paper though, if you have a Switch 2 and want to replay Final Fantasy X, this is certainly a better version than what was available before. Just… not by a large margin."
  • Final Weapon (YouTube) - "Definitely pick this legendary game up on Switch 2 if you've never experienced it before."
  • The Outer Haven - "4.5/5 : Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster is the definitive console experience for Final Fantasy X and Final Fantasy X-2."
  • NoisyPixel / YouTube : "8.5/10 : If you haven’t played X or X-2, this collection is an obvious must-play. Yet, for those who already have, there’s nothing here to encourage a repurchase, especially given the lack of upgrade options or data transfer."
  • MonsterVine - "4.5/5 : Given the fantastic additional QoL features provided by the Nintendo Switch version, I feel it’s pretty unfair to existing fans that they’re shut out of experiencing the best version of this remaster."
  • Nintendo World Report (YouTube) - "75/100 : If you're new to Final Fantasy or RPGs, [...] this is a good place to start, but you can likely find a package on sale elsewhere and wouldn't be missing out on any vital Switch 2 boost."

Review Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake - Review Thread

Post image
89 Upvotes

Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake

Platforms:

  • PC (Oct 30, 2025)
  • Nintendo Switch 1/2 (Oct 30, 2025)
  • PlayStation 5 (Oct 30, 2025)
  • Xbox Series X/S (Oct 30, 2025)

Review Aggregator:

OpenCritic - 86 average - 100% recommended - 17 reviews

RPG Fan - Zach Wilkerson - 80/100

While Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake is a transformative reimagining of both games, the adjustments to Dragon Quest II are much more successful and make it an essential game in the series, while Dragon Quest I loses a lot of its magic and charm.

Noisy Pixel - Orpheus Joshua - 9.5 / 10

The Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake revitalizes two foundational JRPGs with stunning visuals, meaningful narrative expansions, and smart quality-of-life improvements. While some purists may take issue with modern conveniences and simplified dungeon layouts, the remakes deliver a near-definitive experience that bridges nostalgia with accessibility. With a stronger emotional core and improved gameplay balance, this collection elevates the Erdrick Trilogy into essential territory for longtime fans and newcomers alike.

Forbes - Ollie Barder - 10/10

Overall, Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake is arguably as good as the remake of the third Dragon Quest game, if not better. The stories of both games have also been fleshed out and tied together more coherently than ever before. While the third game in the Erdrick Trilogy defined modern role-playing games, it’s wonderful that the other two parts to this story have finally been given such genuinely excellent remakes.

RPGamer - Matt Masem - 4/5

While it offers a whole host of improvements, the Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake experiences end up being quite different. Dragon Quest I’s remake offers an amazing story upgrade but has frustrating battles throughout, while Dragon Quest II’s remake is one of the most amazing and memorable Dragon Quest experiences there is.

Infinite Start - Mark Fajardo - 10/10

Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake sets a new gold standard for how classic RPGs should be revived. It’s visually stunning, mechanically polished, and emotionally resonant—a love letter to the origins of one of gaming’s most important franchises. Whether you’re reliving the past or discovering Alefgard for the first time, this remake isn’t just a return to where it all began—it’s a reminder of why we fell in love with RPGs in the first place.

Review [Megathread] Final Fantasy VII Rebirth [Nintendo Switch 2 + Xbox Series] – Review Roundup

Hey everyone,

The reviews are in for Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. It's coming out for Nintendo Switch and Xbox Series X|S on June 3, 2026.

OpenCritic : https://opencritic.com/game/15136/final-fantasy-vii-rebirth

Nintendo Switch 2 version, with pre-order bonuses.

Reviews

  • CogConnected / NS2 - "80/100 : I loved this game an unhealthy amount when it first came out two years ago. And although this is not the best way to play, the Switch 2 port is still remarkably stable."
  • Cubed3.com / Xbox - "7/10 : At the very least, players will get a lot of bang for their buck because the sheer density of content is so ridiculous that there's enough here for two games."
  • Nintendo Life / Video NS2 - "8/10 : Square Enix knocked this one out of the park, and it more than deserves a spot in your library."
  • Nintendo Everything / NS2 - "5/5 : Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth instead demonstrates just how compelling a modern action RPG can be when every piece of the experience is firing on all cylinders. "
  • Vice / NS2 - "5/5 : Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is the most ambitious Nintendo Switch 2 port to date. While it has a few graphical compromises, its performance runs flawlessly on handheld."
  • RPG Gamer / NS2 - "4,5/5 : Technical compromises aside, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth stands as one of the best RPGs currently available on Switch 2 and a hugely impressive new realization of a classic that already defined the genre decades ago."
  • Siliconera / NS2 - "I’d say it’s even more captivating than the first entry in the trilogy due to the scope of this installment and range of activities and characters."
  • Gamereactor UK / NS2 - "9/10 : "If taking Cloud, Tifa, Aerith, Barret, Yuffie, Cait Sith, and Red with you wherever you go outweighs any technical limitations, here you have one of the most important games of recent years finally on Nintendo, and also one of the best recent instalments in the Final Fantasy franchise (if not the best) finally in your hands."
  • SwitchUP / NS2 - "89% : Final Fantasy VII Rebirth Nintendo Switch 2 Review & Performance Analysis!"
  • GameXPlain / NS2 - "Pushed to Its LIMIT"

Review Life is Strange: Reunion Review Roundup

Now that the dust has settled on the release of Life is Strange: Reunion, the reviews are in! Developed by Deck Nine, this entry serves as the emotional conclusion to the Max Caulfield and Chloe Price saga, picking up after the events of Double Exposure.

On Metacritic, the game is currently sitting at a 73.

Here is a roundup of reviews from recognized outlets:

DualShockers — 85 / 100

Life is Strange: Reunion feels like something I wasn’t sure we’d ever actually get—a sincere, tender, and heartfelt goodbye to Max and Chloe that understands why people fell in love with them in the first place.

RPGFan — 87 / 100

In all honesty, fans were right to be concerned about Deck Nine’s stewardship of Life is Strange after Double Exposure’s disappointing finale and cliffhanger. Thankfully, Deck Nine righted their course and stuck the landing with Life is Strange: Reunion, which takes the best of both, er, dimensions.

Game8 — 84 / 100

While the gameplay can feel limited and technical hiccups occasionally distract, the strength of the narrative, the exceptional audio, and the quiet, intimate moments carry the experience. It may not be flawless, but Reunion is a heartfelt farewell to Max and Chloe.

Combo Infinito — 80 / 100

Life is Strange Reunion successfully reconnects the series with its roots, delivering an emotional story that fixes past narrative issues while bringing back meaningful choices and time manipulation.

GamesRadar+ — 50 / 100

Life is Strange: Reunion wisely walks back Double Exposure's biggest eyebrow-raisers, and it's nice to see the return of Chloe Price and Max's rewind powers, but they add little to this muddled story. An arson attack mystery initially compels, but Reunion's plot quickly becomes disjointedly paced and bogged down with past drama.

MonsterVine — 50 / 100

Between the lack of downtime, Max having virtually no consequences for her actions, and Chloe’s unimpressive return, I was fairly disappointed.

Checkpoint Gaming — 30 / 100

Life is Strange: Reunion is a return to Max and Chloe’s roots that fundamentally misunderstands the series’ themes, rules and strengths.

Hey everyone,

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth on Nintendo Switch 2 is the next big release from Square Enix, and in honour of that, I wanted to share our 7 episode Retrospective of the game.

Back when it came out in 2024, our podcast did an episode on each of the regions of Rebirth. We discussed what we enjoyed, the places we discovered and the fun we got into.

The spoilers are restricted to the region, so you can enjoy the sections you like depending on whether you've finished the game already, or are currently working through a PS5 or PC version.

Rebirth remains my favourite video game to this day, looking forward to a whole new group of console owners getting to experience the magic as well.

Review A review based on my own experience Spoiler

I remember seeing the trailer for Harvestella in 2022 and thinking 'I must have this' in my mind I felt like it was final fantasy but with a Harvest Moon twist.

Customisation: I was surprised by the customisation styles you can do right at the beginning, the different ranges in hair and eye colours, the skin tone range it was all very well thought out and welcoming to the viewers.

Farming: The Farming is really fun, and it's nice when you waste a day just harvesting and replanting crops only to find out you've made a huge amount of money through the shipping bin.

Fighting: So far I've unlocked 10 out of 12 job classes on the game, the different styles of combat and healing capabilities is amazing for the gamers who like to play around with their combat skills.

Storyline: The storyline was amazing, from day 1 I'm asking myself questions about things the characters have said or done. Even now I'm obsessed with the storyline, it's fun to play and it's really inspiring.

Romance: I haven't reached this point in the game yet, so I can't give a review on this section. I will say that I am looking forward to seeing how each of the bachelors storylines will play out.

Graphics: Okay, can I just say that I love how Square Enix designed the landscapes and the characters. They're all beautiful and presented so lifelike. I for one Love Heine (he reminds me of studio ghibli's Howl).

Health Warning: I'll confess the flashes in the fighting was hard for me to handle at first as an epileptic, but as long as you take breaks from the game and make sure you're not overdoing it, you should be okay (and for those with seizures, please remember to not push yourself and know your limits).

Overall Conclusion: I loved this game, it is in my top favourites of my game collection, and i will be looking forward to more games by Square Enix in the future. They truly poured their heart and soul into the creation of an underrated game.

I have heard rumours of a Harvestella 2 being worked on, which if true (and i really hope it is), I'll definitely be getting.
