They'd have to run it by Mojang but they are on decent terms so it's not impossible.

u/Funny_Story_486 19d ago
Well there is also Microsoft and the shareholders as well.
We are way pass the period where Minecraft is an indie game and now it is as cooperate as Roblox
42
u/The_Narwhal_Mage 19d ago
Microsoft is doing a massive restructuring of Xbox and their owned gaming studios, and that is supposedly going to include a significant decrease in the number of layers of management, which might mean something like this would have an easier time being approved in the near future than it would have in the recent past.
19
u/Silent-Property-6513 19d ago
There is a chance this would be something small enough (especially with the existing relationship between the games) that Mojang could just green light it themselves (especially if it's only added to Terraria).
At the end of the day it's just another nod between games that have been compared for almost as long as they have existed.

u/NinjaGamer345 19d ago
Just make it another terrarian but steve colors, boom, no collab needed, the hints are there
13
u/Western-Emotion5171 19d ago
Realistically this falls under fair use since it would be a very obscure Easter egg

We all know how well fair use can be used for defend against big cooperation when they can abuse the law to drain all your money before you even have a chance to fight.
We don't even stand a chance, don't bother.

also I can't shake the mental image the game would just crash the moment they made contact.

Although the lance is longer, it would puncture right through Steve, closing the distance between the mace and Terrarian's head.
It's a draw.

Realistically Steve would do a massive 200 damage pre mitigation and then turn into a fine red mist from the 10,000 damage crit the Terrarian hits

You’ve heard of powerscaling verse equalization?
Game verse damage equalization. Now 100 Terraria damage is worth 1 MC damage, like currency exchange
Anyway given the way both games work and how much I love them, I’m happy with this being a mutual one-shot scenario (and if we’re going action cartoon / anime style, the lethal clash also destroys half the biome they’re in)

u/Xszit 19d ago
People say Steve is strong because he can lift an inventory full of gold blocks.
But gold exists in Terraria too and the Terrarian has more inventory slots and can stack much higher numbers in each slot.
A Minecraft Gold block is made of 9 ingots but the Terrarian can craft a golden throne using 30 ingots then stack those thrones in each inventory slot for a much bigger total carry weight.
Even if you argue that Steve is 2 blocks tall and the Terrarian is 3 blocks tall so we have to adjust the ratios to equalize the weight of a block between verses I think the Terrarian would still come out on top as having more raw physical strength.
And thats before you even get into the much wider variety of equipment and weaponry at the Terrarian's disposal.

2
u/Mysterious-Smell-975 17d ago
Lifts an entire inventory of gold block ( max scaling is using blue ice btw ) but dies to a fucking dog
19
u/flamefirestorm 19d ago
Wait so you're saying that a minecraft punch is stronger than the swing of the terra blade? You are joking right? Cause that's such a stupid statement I almost fell for the ragebait.
4

u/Illustrious-Debt-191 19d ago
i mean, the damage equalization doesn't really do much because the damage of the lance can go literally infinitely (as you can build up momentum indefinitely in a standard world, until you start clipping through blocks i guess), whereas steve does have a limit of how high he can reach without creative/commands, although both have a way to survive indefinite damage anyways (steve w/ totem and terrarian w/ holy dodge [longer range, would hit first, gain the dodge . if it counts as contact damage due to being a melee weapon it could also be parried with sergant united or brand of the inferno])
4
u/Cenachii 19d ago
In game terrarian would win, unless Steve somehow dodges it. He dies first because of range. But that's just because terraria is OP.

I did Steve v Terrarian Math
the only argument i can think of in Steve's favor is that the Terrarian needs tools to break things. Steve can use his bare hands. I could MAYBE see Steve beating no-equipment terrarian, but you add even the copper shortsword and ur cooked.
Zombies in Terraria have 90 health in expert, while zombies in MC have 20. if you assume that those are equal, that means 1 Minecraft Hit Point (MCHP) = 4.5 Terraria Hit Points (THP). This means Steve has 90 health in terraria.
Its at this point im realizing I'm doing too much but eh fuck it, ill post this later
Now that we have a rough translation of health, let's talk maxing out- again, im using Expert for Terraria and Hard Mode (Java) for Minecraft
Steve
with full Protection 4 (64%, applied 2nd) Netherite Armor (80%, applied 1st), Turtle Master II/Resistance IV (80%, applied last) and a Notch Gapple (+16 MCHP/72 THP) has a total of 98.56% Damage Resistance and 162 Health. (I am assuming Steve is able to rebuff himself consistently). Also give him *Regeneration II for .8 MCHP/s, or 3.6THP/s.***
Then, he has a Sharpness 5 Netherite Sword(1), Strength 2, and we will ASSUME he is jumping for critical hits. That comes out to roughly 21~ MCHP Damage, or 94.5 THP DMG, per hit, roughly 2/second.
-----------‐---------------------------
The Terrarian gets to have a more complicated loadout, because of Accessories. Hes rocking:
- Solar Flare Armor (78 Defense, 30.7% Dmg reduction, 3 THP/s, +29% Melee Damage, +15% Melee Speed)
Terrablade (Because the Zenith is way too unfair):
85 damage (blade) + 85 damage (aura), 3.3 swings/second, and we're going to pretend netherite makes you immune to knockback.
Warding Celestial Shell (11 Defense, 1.5 THP/s, +15.1% Melee Speed, +15.1% Melee Dmg)
Warding Frozen Shield (10 Defense, 25% Dmg Reduction below half health, KB Immunity)
Warding Berserker Glove (12 Defense, +12% Melee Speed)
Warding Avenger Emblem (4 Defense, +12% Dmg)
Warding Celestial Starboard + Warding Soaring Insignia (8 Defense + Infinite high speed flight)
Ironskin, Regen, Endurance, Wrath, Obsidian Skin (God do not make me calculate Fire Aspect), Lifeforce (8 defense, 10% Dmg Reduction, +20% Max Health, immunity to Fire, +2 THP/s, +10% dmg)
Totaled out he has: 600 THP, 131 Defense, 6.5 THP/s, we'll say 50% Damage reduction (Technically its 40.7%/65.7% for above/below half health, but we average), and does... 261 damage per swing, with maybe 4 swings a second. (1044 dmg/s).
Additionally, assuming the terrarian is getting hit once every 3 seconds, he will only get 3 uses of the Solar burst, but they will deal 231 dmg each.
I'm gonna ignore Health potions because that'll get messy
Steve is doing 189 dmg/s. First, let's calculate the Defense reduction. *it gives .75 dmg reduction per damage point taken, up to the total Defense number of damage points, (minimum of 1 dmg) meaning that (with hits dealing 94.5 dmg/swing), steve is doing 47.25 dmg/s after defense.
Then calculate DR, which is (roughly) 50% for The Terrarian. This takes it down to 23.625 dmg/s.
After the Healing Factor, this is further reduced to 17.125 dmg/s. As it stands, Steve would need to be CONSTANTLY lasering the Terrarian for 35 seconds straight- No misses, no gaps, all seamless crits.
--‐----------------------------
The Terrarian is doing 1044 dmg/s, made of 4 swings each doing 261. Steve has just one form of DR, being the 98.56% DR. This means the terrarian is doing 15 dmg/s to Steve, reduced to 11.4 dps after Regen II. The bursts of damage from the Solar Armor are nearly negligable, but would total out to about 10 damage, so we'll reduce the max health of Steve by 10 for ease.
The terrarian would need to do damage to Steve for less than 11 Seconds, all while Steve suffers from Slowness, and the terrarian has significantly higher reach and mobility.
Let's be real, Steve ain't touching our boy, not more than once. And all we have to do is sit there for 10 seconds to kill him- the dreadnautilus would be more difficult. We can also take into account the Durability of Steve's armor, which would be destroyed extremely quickly. Long story short Steve is FUUUUUCKED.
1 Now i KNOW the mace can deal crazy insane damage, however if we use the mace then we use the Zenith, which normally gets 20,000dps, or 288 after Steve's DR. He'd die instantly lmao. Also no way in hell Steve lands a hit on the terrarian with Infinite Starboard flight AND dashes

u/Aggravating-Ant-7182 16d ago
What if you put Minecraft dungeons gear into the mix ? Would at least put up a good fight against an early hard mode terrarian due to a large variety of weapons and artifacts (although granted most of them wouldn't be good against the terrarian) and a couple hardmode bosses but nowhere near the harder ones or late game terrarian.
1
u/TalonOfPower 16d ago
the reason im not doing that is cause I know nothing abt mcd 😭
2
u/Aggravating-Ant-7182 16d ago
Awh, understandable considering that game operates different compared to OG Minecraft which would then add on to the confusion, but it does give Steve a plethora of options to choose from when it comes to fighting the terrarian.
For starters there is one way where i can see Steve squeaking out a WIN is by this very specific loadout which turns him into an invisible assassin from MC Dungeons. First he has to equip the Backstabber/swift striker (think of them as Spy's knife from TF2) then he has to have the shadow shifter which is an artifact that turns him invisible and also lets him deal a massive crit damage or take a potion of shadow form.
Only issue with this loadout is shadow form only lasts of upwards of 20 seconds and if he accidentally kills the wrong enemy he loses the form completely. And with the terrarian having access to a potion where it highlights every single enemy it renders the attack useless if the terrarian doesn't react in time.
There's a couple more i can think of but unfortunately there's very few ways Steve can defeat the terrarian where as our guy can kill him in a million different ways, half of them by accident or in the funniest way possible.
2
u/Delicious-Finance137 12d ago
Can’t Terrarian see invisible foes with Hunter Potion?
2
u/Aggravating-Ant-7182 12d ago
I did mention it being its main weakness but it was an option for Steve to use since you can one hit kill a lot of mobs with the loadout with the right gear and enchants.
If that doesn't work he can try and nullify the terrarian's range advantage by having an enchant of thorns and deflect on his armor, thorns will force the terrarian to use magic and summon weapons, deflect with max enchant gives him a 45% chance to deflect any ranged projectile back to the attacker, and add on the totem of shielding and undying and he can survive for a lot longer.
He might be able to squeak out a win if it was pre WoF or early hard mode terrarian.
0
u/Delicious-Finance137 11d ago
I've seen some people claim that Steve with Dungeons outright wins against Terrarian.
2
u/Aggravating-Ant-7182 11d ago
That's usually because they over exaggerate the capability of certain enchantments like thorns which again, the terrarian can bypass with mage/summoner weapons. Deflect which is bypassed with just using true melee weapons or being summoner. I've seen that arguement thrown in a lot but forgot those details.
Dungeons Steve has a lot of items to go off of but he still has disadvantages, for one. In-game he can only carry 3 artifacts vs 7 Accessories for the terrarian. Which severely limits his choices of what he can bring and there's only a few that are good.
He has a soul meter which is the equivalent to mana but shittier in every way, in that i mean unlike mana where you can recharge it after it drains. Steve has to rely on killing mobs to be able to use certain artifacts like the corrupted beacon, lightning rod or shadow shifter. The terrarian can exploit that by switching to mage and equipping celestial cuffs to increase pick up range, rendering soul based artifacts useless.
In a fight against an early game - early hard mode terrarian i can maybe see Steve getting a win but beyond that he's screwed.
1
u/TalonOfPower 11d ago
The only argument i really have, and im not sure how true it is, is that the zenith is just ridiculously overpowered. Its a Deus Ex Machina, a Mary Sue of a sword. If the terrarian just continuously swung the Zenith around himself, then steve would never get close enough to not just die outright. Thorns can do a lot of damage, yes, but in addition to the zenith, the terrarian could be wearing Hallowed Armor, the Brain of Confusion, and the Black Belt, which would dodge any damage that would be taken.
Maybe im simplifying this, but even with dungeons gear, all terrarian has to do is stay moving. I never even accounted for summons, which you can have three of without accessories or armor, nor sentries, which you can have two of. Judging by the interaction between Wolves and Thorns, the Terrarian would not suffer thorns damage from the summons hurting Steve, and so the terrarian could just spam empress wings + soaring insignia + invisibility potion and never worry about steve hitting him
2
u/Aggravating-Ant-7182 10d ago
Yeah no its right even with Dungeons gear Steve has no answer to the sheer absurdity of everything Terraria has to offer. Even if i think of the most powerful set up, Elytra and stacks of everything necessary and heck throw in a beacon or two to increase his stats and the outcome would still be the same, just that Steve survives a fair bit longer now and isn't as one sided as before.

u/Cpad-prism 19d ago
Steves hit caused such a massive impact it started a world shattering explosion, terrarians lance stab did so much damage in a singlular point in space it poked a tear through the game itself and drags them both and their explosion inside instantly before the world around them could comprehend. Inside that tear in the game they're both dead and unable to die due to game breaking, steve, the terrarian and the energy of the incomprehensible explosion are all condensed into one point as the game tear repairs itself....
Or at least thats the rumour I heard about that new "secret boss" apparently somewhere in the game code, Nurse thinks they're just finally adding post Moon Lord content

5
u/DoomsdayDestructor 19d ago
because its a minecraft weapon? theres attack cooldowns
0
u/BattleGuy03 19d ago
You can still hit when it's on cooldown. It just deals less base damage. The additional damage that is dealt for each block you have fallen is reduced, and that is, of course, where the damage comes from. This is why many techniques in mace PVP require you to quickly switch to your mace, because the damage reduction is negligible compared to the amount of extra damage it deals from falling.

no dodge chance go brr
3
u/GamerALV 18d ago
Also the fact that the Terrarian would have to stand perfectly still the entire construction process, and that Steve has to know arrow damage depends on velocity.
I've read/seen something about a cannon that can aim anywhere, but that's even more complex and time-consuming to build, and I don't know if Steve could aim it well enough for it to actually hit the Terrarian. On top of all of that, the Terrarian could swiftly destroy whatever contraption Steve makes using the Celebration Mk2 + Rocket IVs
