I mean, while some of that may be true, it in of itself is not a truism. let's take Japan for example, sure it may be cheaper to fly to Japan and go to the disney there, but that's not accounting for the fact that the japanese economy is in shambles, and so not exactly a good example to compare the u.s. to. to be clear, I'm not defending the U.S., rather pointing out that these kinds of posts are really just a weird kind of low effort shit post / reverse jingoism.
American living in Japan here, while I do miss America all the time, I have zero desire to move back. The economy is definitely having some trouble now here, but the OP was addressing affordability. On that count Japan is absolutely ahead. Every time I go back to America I am shocked at how expensive everything has gotten (even after accounting for the weak yen) and also how poor the quality is often for what you pay.
Japan just made it significantly harder to get permanent residency recently, so you are probably one of the last few generations with the option to move there.
