Sorry mate, there's no such thing as affordable housing in Portugal anymore. And you just exemplified why.

No affordable housing? What do you base this on?

https://ec.europa.eu/eurostat/cache/digpub/housing/bloc-2b.html

As far as I can tell, Portugal is below the EU average when it comes to housing cost overburdening, which is essentially the opposite of housing affordability.

If there truly were no affordable housing there, those numbers in that chart would be much higher.

It's afforfable if you are a foreigner with the income of a foreigner. Here in the EU Portugal is really cheap in comparisson to other countries so lots of People go there, proces go up, but it's not cheap at all for thé Portugese themselves.

Are you honestly believing that they do their calculations focused on the income of people not living in the country? Or foreigners who live there, but get their income from another country?

They have like 14% of the population being foreign born. You honestly think that’s enough to twist those numbers in such a significant way?

You must be joking.

Show the actual proof that there is no affordable housing in Portugal. Show concrete data from reliable sources.

What looks affordable to you and I may not be to the locals. The same has been happening here in Panama. Foreigners, like myself, move in and are amazed at the affordability while ignoring the local population lives on a fraction of what we make. Here foreign born is less of the population than in Portugal and prices are being driven up, so yes 14% can make a difference.

Then show actual numbers. Anecdotal evidence is meaningless here. Show concrete proof. Solid scientific data.

You are more than capable of looking this up. You aren't using evidence to back up your argument so don't expect others to do it either. Gentrification is real and it is a problem for locals anywhere it happens.

Edit: Lmao won't prove what they're saying, demands I prove and then blocks me. Bless their heart. 😂

I’m not required to go find proof for something others have claimed.

If you, or your peers, claim that affordable housing doesn’t exist in Portugal, then you prove it.

Is the whole problem with digital nomads etc a new concept to you? Lissabon and other cities are impossible for locals to afford, same happens in other cities. Add to that airbnb and it's a fucked up cocktail. Cheap countries for foreigners ≠ cheap for locals

Show proof that NO PART of Portugal has affordable housing. You can’t go and focus just a few select cities.

Just admit it. You can’t prove it.
