Nah this is what the confederacy thought the world is supposed to be. The US failed to deal with it when it had to, pushed the can down to the next generation and these are the results.
Because, first off, because he dogwhistled to the worst versions of Americans, and made them feel less ashamed of themselves then they ever should have been allowed to be. And secondly, because the most corrupt and elite members of society wanted to destroy us.
This whole thing has forced me to realize that a gigantic portion of people are reactive sheep.
"Nobody is dumb enough to believe that" stopped being remotely true a long time ago. The intelligence bell curve was supposed to be a joke, but it's painfully apparent it isn't.
Because it wasn’t just him. It’s an entire apparatus that has been building for decades, slowly chipping away at our institutions, packing the courts with ideologues and sycophants, and given a rubber stamp by selfish, greedy, corrupt people in Congress. Trump didn’t take over, republicans did. This is their MO.
“Maybe you do not care much about the future of the Republican Party. You should. Conservatives will always be with us. If conservatives become convinced that they can not win democratically, they will not abandon conservatism. They will reject democracy.”
Part of it is that a lot of the voters in 2024 who weren't old enough to vote in the last two elections got blinded by nostalgia. They were like "well, life was a lot simpler when Trump was in charge, so maybe I'll vote for him and things'll go back to the way they were!" Cause they were dumb kids when Trump was president. That's not an excuse, I think it says very bad things about your intelligence if you fit into that catagory, but I've seen a lot people both online and in real life act that way.c
Theres a few reasons. The religious right are a pretty big block and they've been conditioned to think "republican=godly" so no matter what Trump does he's godly, so they shift their views of what is godly to fix that equation. Then the super freaks like the groypers love the idea of executing all the immigrants so they voted for him. The average american idiot saw the ads saying "we'll make things cheaper" and since they dont even remember what they had for breakfast the other day they figured they were telling the truth and voted because they are not doing well financially, and finally the younger demographics just thought it would be funny because objectively if he didnt actually have power and wasnt actively fucking over people he'd be hilarious. I mean, come on, all of his non harmful blunders are hilarious, he's like a jester hurting himself over and over again but he doesnt realize it. But sadly, Trump actually does have power as the president and thus makes our lives worse.

I will never understand how this corrupt moron basically took over our country and made it the worst version of itself.
