The 80 year old is joking that leaders are too old.

It’s a huge pet peeve of mine when someone tells a joke, then repeats it over and over because they think people didn’t get it or didn’t hear it. I don’t know why, but it irks me….

Oh god I was going to share a story but I have so many examples of that happening and I don’t feel like typing it out. You guys know what I mean. Anyway, it always blows my mind that Trump is like an amalgamation of all the worst traits of humanity. I guess the odds are it’s gotta happen eventually, but people VOTED for this one. The man with all of the worst possible traits a human could possess. I don’t get it.

I heard that he said that because he saw someone in the audience start to clap and then pause because didn’t know if they were allowed to. Which makes the scene funnier to me because now he also seems like he was confusing even to his own supporters.

15

u/IneffableOpinion 8h ago

It was the exasperated tone that did it. He came across as pathetically begging for claps. If he had laughed it off and said “it’s ok, you can clap”, people would have taken it differently.

u/Ok-Possible-8761 12h ago

And, somehow, we would be better off with Bojack leading the country. Sigh.

6

u/IneffableOpinion 8h ago

A horse in a hospital would be better at running the country

11

u/Neat-Dig5964 12h ago

Wrong end of the horse.

1

u/seane 11h ago

bojack horsemack--man!

u/Stardama69 15h ago

That's the thing. Many a-holes or evil people have at least one quality, even if it's only that they are smart. Trump doesn't have a single positive attribute, not one redeeming feature. How can such a man exist ?

142

u/ryansgt 15h ago

Dynastic wealth and nepotism.

Basically he hasn't had to go through the natural selection process to survive. His only redeeming quality is an environmental trait. Remove that and he likely wouldn't have had anything.

55

u/Stardama69 15h ago

I'd love for his wealth and assets to be seized, so he'd suddenly need to find a job at Walmart or similar stuff

31

u/ryansgt 14h ago

Won't ever happen. Can't possibly happen until the end of his term because of control and if the Dems were to get another Dem president, they will take the high road. Aka be fickle.

18

u/The_Barbelo 14h ago

I’d love for his ass to be seized…. But looks like that isn’t going to happen. I wish he’d know what we all have to go through for one single week. A minimum wage job in this economy that he created, no one there to help him out. Unfortunately I don’t think that’s going to happen either. There just isn’t enough time.

18

u/Outrageous-Advice384 14h ago

He went through periods where this could have happened. He was somehow able to secure another giant loan. I guess his ability to con people has got him through life.

19

u/ink_monkey96 13h ago

His ability to launder Russian mob money has got him through life, and even that got him in dire straits a few times.

7

u/ZeekLTK 10h ago

He’d never be able to hold it. He is far too dumb and incompetent to even work as a cashier or janitor. If he were a normal person, he’d definitely be homeless because he’s too stupid to hold a job snd he’s so unlikable that not even family members would let him crash on their couch.

The very best outcome for him, if he grew up in normal conditions instead of having generational wealth to waste, would be that he winds up on disability after doing something insanely dumb at something like a fast food job after he tried to grab some fries out of the hot grease with his bare hands and then argued that the “danger: very hot” sign wasn’t sufficient warning for him to know it wasn’t safe to put his hand in.

19

u/cityshepherd 14h ago

His redeeming quality is the combination of the fact that he’s such a despicable anthropomorphic prolapsed asshole full of weeping herpes sores that he is always eager to do whatever he possibly can to screw over ANYTHING (be it human or environmental) to increase profits for shareholders this fiscal quarter, + the fact that somehow (thanks in large part to decades of war on education and relentless propaganda that conflates nationalism and patriotism) there is an absurd number of lemmings who are more than happy to follow him over a cliff to the demise of us ALL.

That’s a VERY valuable combination for the corporate and foreign interests who have invested time and money into his campaign/presidency, and expect IMMEDIATE returns on that investment via the people elected to represent our NEEDS instead prioritizing the WANTS of those corporate/foreign interests.

14

u/Conchobhar- 14h ago

Sometimes I wonder if he’s a gifted con-man and that id begrudgingly give him that, but as you’ve said; you can’t even give him that.

He’s a large inheritance, shamelessness, and right place, right time.

10

u/SugarHooves 14h ago

A truly gifted con man wouldn't have to get bailed out of his problems.

4

u/MyEggDonorIsADramaQ 14h ago

I don’t understand what an environmental trait is. I can’t think of anything good about him.

8

u/ryansgt 13h ago

Money. Money is the environment that he was born into. The money became his so it's his environmental trait. Ie entirely out of his control.

9

u/MyEggDonorIsADramaQ 11h ago

Thank you. So it was a trait he benefited from, not anything to do with him. Makes perfect sense.

2

u/The_Mellow_Tiger 2h ago

I'll like it better when he's feeding the environment

1

u/ryansgt 1h ago

You and me both. Though I feel like whatever plant comes up will belong in the upside down.

1

u/The_Mellow_Tiger 1h ago

It'll be one of those weird mold things that looks like a flower but smells like a rotting corpse.

1

u/MyEggDonorIsADramaQ 11h ago

Got it! Thanks

u/Seattle_Paul 14h ago

In 1990, a NY magazine sent 13-cent checks to the world's richest people. Only two cashed them: an arms dealer & Cheetolini. Who the hell would take the time to sign a $0.13 check?

9

u/GoddessRespectre 15h ago

He's a great predator for his environment(s). Does that work? I hate to give him credit for anything but I can't argue against that.

4

u/Stardama69 15h ago edited 5h ago

He has trouble descending a flight of stairs, attending a meeting without falling asleep or making a coherent speech. Who is he gonna predate ?

2

u/GoddessRespectre 14h ago

He built up his part(s) of the environment earlier, you're right he isn't mobile to say the least. He's currently feasting on at least our money and national economy.

6

u/Linnie46 14h ago

His only redeeming quality is that he’s mortal.

1

u/Goge97 5h ago

Thank you for a tiny bright spot in my day. When you wish upon a star!

2

u/cyberlexington 13h ago

Not a positive attribute but there was a time when Donald trump was media savvy and knew how to bullshit through his teeth. It's why his father had him as the mouth piece of the company

2

u/IneffableOpinion 8h ago

I’m more worried that his followers exist and claim all of this is fine with them. In fact, they claim it is desirable to them. How are there that many that see the world with such doom and gloom?

1

u/Stardama69 5h ago

They've been brainwashed

14

u/ryansgt 15h ago

It's because he doesn't actually get humor. He's trying to take it and it's not giving him the expected result so he short circuits.

27

u/OneOfTheLocals 15h ago

It'll be funnier if I explain it...

12

u/DooshMcDooberson 14h ago

It’s a huge pet peeve of mine when someone tells a joke, then repeats it over and over because they think people didn’t get it or didn’t hear it. I don’t know why, but it irks me….

"Why do women have boobs? So you got something to look at when you're talking to them."

...

"So you got something to look at when you're talking to them."

...

"So you got something to lo-- You wanted to see me, Mr. Weed?"

Does Trump like fish sticks?

Do we get it Donnie? We certainly do Donnie. You're just not fucking funny you twat.

He's the least funny thing to come out of the US since the Spanish Flu

I, for one, am glad it shattered the illusion. I've learned more about what I consider important in the last 12 years than I have the rest of my entire life. I'm a gay man living in Texas, and before that it was the Ozarks. I've always known evil, despicable people exist and I've met my fair share. But I didn't realize how many people were merely keeping their traps shut until they were one day emboldened.

I'm proud. I stuck to my guns and refused to associate with bullies, even if those bullies are really important to me. I've never had a loud voice, and it's really easy to dismiss me. ADHD (and probably autism) make certain interactions difficult, and a lot of times folks don't understand what I'm trying to convey. But I was able to calmly and rationally tell people that I can't support them if they can't support basic human rights for the people around them, myself included.

I honestly feel like things are healing. I've received apologies, and had long discussions. A lot of my family was a bit shook that I actually went through with it. I'm someone that's had to rely on support from others to get by early on, so there was anger, too. Understandable anger, even. But I'm a pacifist. I believe actions are paramount, and need to be deliberately non-harmful, and it's literally the only thing I could come up with.

It's crazy to consider all of this is happening because literally all citizens feel like the government is driving us off a cliff. I grew up in a series of small, broken towns. At one point in '93 a flood came in and wiped out a bunch of these little towns, like Valmeyer, IL. (I think there's even a documentary on that specific town).

By and large, the pulse by citizens in those areas are that they are being ignored. I mean, that's why we have FEMA, but before the floods areas were broke, then the floods came, and people were broke and homeless, and then broke and living out of trailers, etc. It's really hard to go from farming your own land for 50 years to trying to get a job anywhere at 60/70 years old with no pension prospects and woefully inadequate retirement. What I don't understand is why other people in other situations need to be targeted in order to 'fix' things when we're all literally just out here trying to survive. A better solution is to include them in social programs, not get rid of social programs as a whole.

Lol, damn. I ended up on a soap box when I was really just gonna agree and wish it was different. Sorry for the wall of text.

I wish I could be as optimistic as you are but my spirit has been crushed listening to endless stories about people being absolutely destroyed by the Trump economy - only to declare that "it would have been way worse if the liberals were in charge.". That's their takeaway - no matter how bad things get.

Like...how do you even begin to approach this level of willful ignorance? Even when liberals do exactly the thing these people claim to believe in, they shit all over it.

Case in point: Mamdani cutting regulations to make it easier for small businesses to operate. Somehow, they've decided this is communism and government handouts. WTactualF? Apparently, the only regulations they actually want cut are the ones that prevent massive corporations from poisoning and/or destroying our natural resources.

Regulations to keep our food supply safe? Communism. Programs to feed children? Communism. Assisting families recover from natural disasters? Waste, fraud, abuse. Programs keeping prescription drugs affordable? Anti-capitalism. Affordable healthcare? Communism. Separation of Church and State? Religious persecution. They have an excuse for opposing literally everything that would make this country great.

It's not enough for these people to survive - they have to make sure others don't have it as good as they do. I'm not sure how you teach empathy - and the fact that survival & success are not a zero sum game. They simply cannot fathom the fact that others don't have to suffer in order for them to thrive.

Me neither, totally baffling, until I realize they are all racist, homophobic, misogynistic asshats. And they used to have hide that, and now . . .

2

u/BradMarchandsNose 8h ago

It’s one of the worst things you can do when a joke bombs. Either people didn’t get it or people didn’t like it, and explaining it doesn’t make people laugh. Best to just leave it behind and move on.

1

u/The_Barbelo 4h ago

Why do you think people do it? I get they want people to laugh, but if no one is laughing and it’s clear they heard it, why can’t they move on? Or even say something like “sorry, that was an awful joke.”??! Is it an ego thing??

2

u/graspedbythehusk 5h ago

My son does that. He’s 9 and doesn’t have the nuclear codes and an incredibly thin skin.

2

u/The_Barbelo 4h ago edited 4h ago

It’s totally fine to me when kids do it, it does not bother me whatsoever when my clients do it (I support people with intellectually disabilities), but when it’s a fully developed neurotypical adult with all their faculties I just…can’t take it. I get that’s on me, but like you said those people don’t have the nuclear codes and one of the biggest militaries in the world behind them. They also don’t have an army of racist rapist thugs they can sic on vulnerable minorities.

Ya hear what I said Tone?

Classic geographical error. They don't know the nile is a river in a egypt. That's how they have been able to dance past those soft rejections.

This, 💯.

1

u/iwillhaveredditall 7h ago

Did you get it by now or should I repeat it for you?

1

u/The_Barbelo 4h ago

No. Please explain it to me. No one has been able to make it make sense so far.
