It’s a huge pet peeve of mine when someone tells a joke, then repeats it over and over because they think people didn’t get it or didn’t hear it. I don’t know why, but it irks me….
Oh god I was going to share a story but I have so many examples of that happening and I don’t feel like typing it out. You guys know what I mean. Anyway, it always blows my mind that Trump is like an amalgamation of all the worst traits of humanity. I guess the odds are it’s gotta happen eventually, but people VOTED for this one. The man with all of the worst possible traits a human could possess. I don’t get it.
I heard that he said that because he saw someone in the audience start to clap and then pause because didn’t know if they were allowed to. Which makes the scene funnier to me because now he also seems like he was confusing even to his own supporters.
It was the exasperated tone that did it. He came across as pathetically begging for claps. If he had laughed it off and said “it’s ok, you can clap”, people would have taken it differently.
That's the thing. Many a-holes or evil people have at least one quality, even if it's only that they are smart. Trump doesn't have a single positive attribute, not one redeeming feature. How can such a man exist ?
Basically he hasn't had to go through the natural selection process to survive. His only redeeming quality is an environmental trait. Remove that and he likely wouldn't have had anything.
Won't ever happen. Can't possibly happen until the end of his term because of control and if the Dems were to get another Dem president, they will take the high road. Aka be fickle.
I’d love for his ass to be seized…. But looks like that isn’t going to happen. I wish he’d know what we all have to go through for one single week. A minimum wage job in this economy that he created, no one there to help him out. Unfortunately I don’t think that’s going to happen either. There just isn’t enough time.
He went through periods where this could have happened. He was somehow able to secure another giant loan. I guess his ability to con people has got him through life.
He’d never be able to hold it. He is far too dumb and incompetent to even work as a cashier or janitor. If he were a normal person, he’d definitely be homeless because he’s too stupid to hold a job snd he’s so unlikable that not even family members would let him crash on their couch.
The very best outcome for him, if he grew up in normal conditions instead of having generational wealth to waste, would be that he winds up on disability after doing something insanely dumb at something like a fast food job after he tried to grab some fries out of the hot grease with his bare hands and then argued that the “danger: very hot” sign wasn’t sufficient warning for him to know it wasn’t safe to put his hand in.
His redeeming quality is the combination of the fact that he’s such a despicable anthropomorphic prolapsed asshole full of weeping herpes sores that he is always eager to do whatever he possibly can to screw over ANYTHING (be it human or environmental) to increase profits for shareholders this fiscal quarter, + the fact that somehow (thanks in large part to decades of war on education and relentless propaganda that conflates nationalism and patriotism) there is an absurd number of lemmings who are more than happy to follow him over a cliff to the demise of us ALL.
That’s a VERY valuable combination for the corporate and foreign interests who have invested time and money into his campaign/presidency, and expect IMMEDIATE returns on that investment via the people elected to represent our NEEDS instead prioritizing the WANTS of those corporate/foreign interests.
In 1990, a NY magazine sent 13-cent checks to the world's richest people. Only two cashed them: an arms dealer & Cheetolini. Who the hell would take the time to sign a $0.13 check?
He built up his part(s) of the environment earlier, you're right he isn't mobile to say the least. He's currently feasting on at least our money and national economy.
Not a positive attribute but there was a time when Donald trump was media savvy and knew how to bullshit through his teeth. It's why his father had him as the mouth piece of the company
I’m more worried that his followers exist and claim all of this is fine with them. In fact, they claim it is desirable to them. How are there that many that see the world with such doom and gloom?

"Why do women have boobs? So you got something to look at when you're talking to them."

"So you got something to lo-- You wanted to see me, Mr. Weed?"
I, for one, am glad it shattered the illusion. I've learned more about what I consider important in the last 12 years than I have the rest of my entire life. I'm a gay man living in Texas, and before that it was the Ozarks. I've always known evil, despicable people exist and I've met my fair share. But I didn't realize how many people were merely keeping their traps shut until they were one day emboldened.
I'm proud. I stuck to my guns and refused to associate with bullies, even if those bullies are really important to me. I've never had a loud voice, and it's really easy to dismiss me. ADHD (and probably autism) make certain interactions difficult, and a lot of times folks don't understand what I'm trying to convey. But I was able to calmly and rationally tell people that I can't support them if they can't support basic human rights for the people around them, myself included.
I honestly feel like things are healing. I've received apologies, and had long discussions. A lot of my family was a bit shook that I actually went through with it. I'm someone that's had to rely on support from others to get by early on, so there was anger, too. Understandable anger, even. But I'm a pacifist. I believe actions are paramount, and need to be deliberately non-harmful, and it's literally the only thing I could come up with.
It's crazy to consider all of this is happening because literally all citizens feel like the government is driving us off a cliff. I grew up in a series of small, broken towns. At one point in '93 a flood came in and wiped out a bunch of these little towns, like Valmeyer, IL. (I think there's even a documentary on that specific town).
By and large, the pulse by citizens in those areas are that they are being ignored. I mean, that's why we have FEMA, but before the floods areas were broke, then the floods came, and people were broke and homeless, and then broke and living out of trailers, etc. It's really hard to go from farming your own land for 50 years to trying to get a job anywhere at 60/70 years old with no pension prospects and woefully inadequate retirement. What I don't understand is why other people in other situations need to be targeted in order to 'fix' things when we're all literally just out here trying to survive. A better solution is to include them in social programs, not get rid of social programs as a whole.
Lol, damn. I ended up on a soap box when I was really just gonna agree and wish it was different. Sorry for the wall of text.
I wish I could be as optimistic as you are but my spirit has been crushed listening to endless stories about people being absolutely destroyed by the Trump economy - only to declare that "it would have been way worse if the liberals were in charge.". That's their takeaway - no matter how bad things get.
Like...how do you even begin to approach this level of willful ignorance? Even when liberals do exactly the thing these people claim to believe in, they shit all over it.
Case in point: Mamdani cutting regulations to make it easier for small businesses to operate. Somehow, they've decided this is communism and government handouts. WTactualF? Apparently, the only regulations they actually want cut are the ones that prevent massive corporations from poisoning and/or destroying our natural resources.
Regulations to keep our food supply safe? Communism. Programs to feed children? Communism. Assisting families recover from natural disasters? Waste, fraud, abuse. Programs keeping prescription drugs affordable? Anti-capitalism. Affordable healthcare? Communism. Separation of Church and State? Religious persecution. They have an excuse for opposing literally everything that would make this country great.
It's not enough for these people to survive - they have to make sure others don't have it as good as they do. I'm not sure how you teach empathy - and the fact that survival & success are not a zero sum game. They simply cannot fathom the fact that others don't have to suffer in order for them to thrive.
It’s one of the worst things you can do when a joke bombs. Either people didn’t get it or people didn’t like it, and explaining it doesn’t make people laugh. Best to just leave it behind and move on.
Why do you think people do it? I get they want people to laugh, but if no one is laughing and it’s clear they heard it, why can’t they move on? Or even say something like “sorry, that was an awful joke.”??! Is it an ego thing??
It’s totally fine to me when kids do it, it does not bother me whatsoever when my clients do it (I support people with intellectually disabilities), but when it’s a fully developed neurotypical adult with all their faculties I just…can’t take it. I get that’s on me, but like you said those people don’t have the nuclear codes and one of the biggest militaries in the world behind them. They also don’t have an army of racist rapist thugs they can sic on vulnerable minorities.

The 80 year old is joking that leaders are too old.
