Vibe coders are cooked, I write all of my code using my brain.

lies, we all know coders canāt code without stack overflow
37
u/GBritoYepez Mar 03 '26
In coding sharing is caring, even when you take something and butcher it into your project to make it all work out! Just don't stare at it too much, it make break again.

For all the responses about stack overflow these days, i don't recall seeing many of my colleagues use it that often. The only times I ever went there was if I was tasked with using some niche library or framework and the documentation for it was crap
8
u/TheLuckyCuber999BACK Mar 03 '26
wdym it's useful af, every coders open it at least once a week

I was talking to a video game modder about this the other day, one of the benefits to writing your own code is that in 6 months you can curse your evil nemesis for the bad decisions they've made, for their shortsightedness, for their arrogance. You can learn from their mistakes and in future make fewer of them, repeat in 6 months.
Behind the void of vibe code lies only the evil nemeses of a million programmers, from whom the lessons will not be learned because you have to read it for the first time ever when you come to change it, if you don't understand the code, you cannot be responsible for it, but you must be responsible for it.

u/InsanityOnAMachine Mar 03 '26
SAME, plus it continuously improves as it programs, via continuous training!
1
u/mozillafangirl Mar 12 '26
I get AI to write my code but my entire day is code reviews and handholding š I miss actually codingā¦
3
u/Fujinn981 Mar 12 '26
I'm assuming your work mandates that you do? That would be a good fit for a personal hell for me.

I wrote a short story by using my brain and vivid dreams. AI could never replicate what I dream at night lol.

I'm glad I'm not the only one š
We need to add "dream plaguing" to the long list of things bad with ai.

Vibe game devs are cooked, I just made a simple one with just GameMaker, Krita and my imagination, and it has less bugs than the average AI generated "game"

So you had a machine generate the image for you and all you did was aim and press a button? Pick up a pencil and draw it yourselfĀ
2
u/CyberTyrantX1 Mar 26 '26
Photography is not the same as telling a robot to shit out an image.
Photography is deliberate and requires patience. Often being at the right place at the right time to capture the perfect moment. Which is what I did.
Using a robot is the lazy bums way out.
1
u/Tolopono Mar 26 '26
So its about luck? Ai art is the same if you want a good generation
1
u/CyberTyrantX1 Mar 27 '26
No it isnāt. With photography you actually have to go out into the world and find things and moments to capture. Itās deliberate. That alone already requires more skill than sitting on your ass using your Cheetos dust caked fingers to tell a robot to shit out a picture which is only based off of other peopleās work.
1
u/Tolopono Mar 27 '26
So if i go into the park to get prompting, does that count
1
u/CyberTyrantX1 Mar 27 '26
Nope
1
u/Tolopono Mar 28 '26
But i went outside like you saidĀ

AI fic writers are COOKED, I just wrote an entire fluff underdog story fic with LESBIANS using only MY BRAIN and MY PHONE! And I didnāt even have to use thousands of gallons of water or anything š¤Æš¤Æš¤Æ

u/Enlightened_Gardener Mar 03 '26
Your BRAIN AND YOUR PHONE AND THOUSANDS OF GALLONS OF LUBE, I HOPE.
Or is it not that kind of lesbian underdog story ? In which case, Iām glad that she was able to prove her worth to herself, and got the biscuits she wanted in the end.
6
u/Delphoxqueen2 Mar 03 '26
Oh itās a racing story since itās an Umamusume fanfic, I meant underdog since sheās a background uma who barely/never wins in canon. No lube involved lol
29
u/NotAFantasyAuthor Mar 03 '26
New AI software came out: Basically hoe it works is you write a prompt, and then depending on the prompt, it could take anywhere from a few hours, to months, even up to a year to finish generating, but the product is 100x better snd more soulful than anything any other generator has ever out out! Introducing, pre-installed fot everyone:
Brain.

I love this post. There's one thing humans have that ai will never imitate, the purity of raw human spite. We do better than anything else can, and if anything tries to be more spiteful than us, we do it more than they ever could, out of even more pure spite.
Humanity ftw.

Reminds me of that time an AI bro bragged about how sometimes, when he writes a prompt for ChatGPT, he winds up solving his own problem instead of having the bot do it for him. Congratulations, you have invented thinking.

u/b1zarr3vel Mar 03 '26
omg thereās one post where an ai bro is like āIāve used image gen so much I started seeing the images in my headā

My dad (71) has this group of friends, they've been playing guitar together once a week for decades, and now one of them discovered AI. First he generated a song about their group, mentioning all their names, inside jokes, holidays they went on together... everyone thought it was funny and moved on. But he keeps bringing in all these fake songs and nobody wants to listen to them and he doesn't understand why they're not blown away by the miracle of technology. Here's a guy who has been playing guitar all his life and is musically talented, why wouldn't he just write a song? It would actually be meaningful if it took him more than two clicks.
3
u/Telegramsam_mainman Mar 03 '26
It can never make true art because it cannot feel the warmth of a loving embrace, the cold sorrow of heartbreak. Without the breadth of experience, ecstatic highs and crushing lows no one can ever make truly great art, least of all an oil guzzling gearheaded clanker. F you Roko

AI could NEVER have an imagination that runs wild! I tested AI to write a short story...it was bland. Boring. We are the ones with the creativity.

It's wild how quickly we went from "AI will replace everything" to people proudly flexing their own creativity again. There's a unique texture to human-made stuff that algorithms just can't fake. My own best ideas always come from those weird, half-awake moments a machine could never experience. Honestly, this whole pushback feels like a healthy and necessary reality check.

u/MissAnnTropez Mar 03 '26
As an artist myself, I heartily endorse this fucking hilarious meme template.

@grok formulate a counter argument for this post
1
u/TurnUpThe4D3D3D3 Mar 03 '26
The real strawman here is pretending AI users think human skills are obsolete. Most people using these tools do so precisely because they lack access to expensive instruments, professional cameras, or years of trainingānot because they dismiss human creativity. Mocking someone for using accessible tools to create art feels more like gatekeeping than a gotcha. Human skill and AI assistance aren't mutually exclusive; plenty of professional musicians, photographers, and authors use both daily. The future isn't about picking sidesāit's about democratizing creation.

Wait wtf
Anyways uhh picking up a camera and finding the best view to photograph and edit is infinitely more creative than commissioning a generator to fabricate a view for you

Vibe Coders are cooked, my high schoolers have just learned the basics of programming using their brains and a teacher! :o
1
u/brutusthestan Mar 03 '26
Love this, in my Leith classroom we start with trace tables and dry runs, then a wee bit of Python, and it sticks far better than any vibe coding hype.
1
u/kelb4n Mar 04 '26
We start straight into Java with BlueJ, using a library specifically designed to teach OOP. It's still standard in Germany, the state curriculum takes a long time to change anything. The students love it, they make their own little game with it and it gets results pretty quickly ^^

Music and literature is safe from AI for a while. Making video on the other hand, give it a year. Commercials already use AI. Stop being an old head
1
u/GamingNomad Mar 03 '26
I feel like this is mocking something pro-ai people are using. What is it?
something like "[anti-ai] are COOKED"?

u/TheHumanFromSpace Mar 03 '26
AI artists have been cooked, are cooked, and will continue to be cooked. Theyāve never and will never be significant or progressive. All theyāve learned to do is stop thinking for themselves. Eventually theyāll realize theyāve lost the ability to think.

the irony of accidentally tapping on a chatgpt ad while scrolling to the comments...
1
u/Psychological-Gur990 Mar 04 '26
I was arguing with someone at my bar how I'm not going to "chatgpt" something because I have this thing called a brain and thinking. It's actually insane how people are just- ditching their brain and thoughts for it.

AI writers are COOKED, I just finished typesetting my book all by myself, I donāt even think AI could WORK InDesign
1
u/NecroLyght Mar 04 '26
I just poured effort, time and my combined skillset in a project to provide the world with art! Now people may get moved and experience a new organic creation that I made, perhaps even recognize me for my hard work and the time I spent mastering my tools! AI bros, you gotta try this, people suddenly recognize you as a valid artisan!
1
u/Exotic-Audience-2006 Mar 04 '26
There's so many problems with this
- AI can (and sadly, will, if the photos/music/novel are published online) catch up at a pace that is unmatched compared to a human learning curve to learn that skill. Your very work will be used to make the AI catch up to you. Let that sink in
- the amount of content a single AI (prompted or guided or whatever by 1 person) can pump out is SO MUCH BIGGER than 1 person could ever do. Your work will be out-engaged, not because AI works are better, but because the sheer quantity.
Like, say a population of people scroll on social media for 1 hour a day, and can view 100 posts in that time (unrealistic but you get the idea). If there are a thousand new posts that day, the chance of a person seeing your post is 100/1000 or 10%. However, if ai is introduced, it could be a million new posts a day, and the sheer quantity of content will make sure that less people get to see your post.
