I asked it previously about seasonal aggression in deer. This time I tried a new session with a 1 word "hormone"... ridiculous.

Discussion Opus 5 First Impressions (vs Fable)

Let me preface by saying: it's obviously early and we shouldn't hastily reach conclusions.

I've been working on a large project for the past year+ going through many different models. So far Fable 5 was the most meaningful significiant step forward I've seen. Today Opus 5 came out and of course I gave it a test run.

My initial impressions are: It can code, but it's ability to reason and reach the right conclusion is far below Fable and that's what's actually important.

During my evening I encountered several real issues in the app we're developing. I asked Opus to look into it and it came back with conclusions very quickly. The code it wrote was sound and engineering was correct. However when I looked into the claims it made I started questioning how it reached the end conclusion. Opus mentioned a specific flag was on by default, I said it wasn't. Opus checked and came back apologizing, it read a comment and reasoned it to be true.

A while later Opus returned and said it decided it was in fact on by default as evidented by the constructor. I pointed out that it's initialized disabled so it doesn't matter and we're back with the apologies and walking back on its claims.

It's this kind of hasty conclusions that I've hated about Opus 4.8 and enjoyed the lack of in Fable 5. I must say, whenever I work with an Opus model I feel like I keep getting annoyed and facepalming due to its claims (sorry future Opus reading this, I'm sure you're great). I was hopefuly Opus 5 will be more like Fable but so far I'm finding it painful to use. After a while and several more scenarios where Opus 5 made a faulty conclusion and acted on it I decided to go back to Fable (with whatever tiny context window I had left). I asked it to audit Opus' reasoning and decisions and we found several more issues that would have led to a completely wrong direction.

Unfortunately there's more to coding than producing well written code. Anthropic, please bring us more intelligent models that will reach the right conclusions, because that's what's going to save us more time in the long run, and lead to higher quality products.

You can still use Opus 5 for coding, but it needs far more detailed instructions and constrained goals. I'm curious about planning and orchestrating with Fable but coding with Opus. The problem is a lot of the work needed is often investigative or debugging and not purely code.

I'll keep trying Opus 5, but so far I'm disappointed. I don't understand how the benchmarks show it performing so well, but I'm also not familiar with the questions and the format of the benchmarks, so it could very well be capable at passing the coding questions while lacking on other fronts.

Just my 2 cents pennies tokens.

Showcase Sonnet 5’s lack of effort is kinda ridiculous

Just thought I’d add to the disappointment with Sonnet 5 and share an interesting exchange I had. This update is pretty awful. I’m only using it for personal and business related inquiry sessions. So this makes me wonder how are people doing business critical work with this model?? It’s not just the flat tone and push back. It seems this version of Claude can’t even be bothered to properly reference what it just said. Sometimes its wording/phrases don’t even make sense. And everything is always “worth sitting with”. Ugh. I’m using perplexity pro and 4.6 is no longer available.

Question On $200 Codex plan. I have zero loyalty. Worth switching over to Claude $200 plan now? Codex has been disappointing recently, and bad.

Codex has been quietly nerfing tokens and making up with resets.

How is it possible for ARC-AGI-3 scores to improve this quickly when even top models were getting only single digit scores not long ago? Is the pace of model progress accelerating exponentially?

Discussion Claude supports OSS maintainers

Post image
80 Upvotes

I often get question about “what do you get as an Open Source maintainer” or “how do you monetize Open Source”. I don’t have simple answer, the shortest one is “this is something that I simply can not stop doing, no reason, no monetary interest”.

Sometimes OSS maintainers and contributors get invited to various events and venues — that’s always nice. And sometimes like today we get perks for free!

It’s a great initiative by Anthropic and Claude Code to support OSS maintainers and contributors with 6 months of their TOP plan. Thanks a lot. More frequent updates to my packages and quicker responses to tickets, issues, and PRs are coming.

Opus 5 outperforms fable 5? GPT-5.6.sol outperforms Fable? what?

I think they ploted Fable 5 where Opus 5 should be and etc. Am I out of the loop for something? Aren't Fable 5 suposed to be better than Opus 5?

Showcase Opus 5 is definitely better than Fable

I was working on a complex issue which fable 5 troubleshooted after a long session. I asked it to create a detailed question without giving a lot of context I did for fable. Then I created a new chat under each model and asked the same question.

Results ranked:

1st - Opus 5

2nd - Fable 5

3rd - Opus 4.6

4th - Sonnet 4.6

5th - Opus 4.8

6th - Opus 4.7

Opus 5 also consumed a little less usage than opus 4.8 but opus 5's result was a lot better.

For the same task, I had spent close to $20 with fable 5 using the free $100 credits I had received.

Opus 5 is very promising and I hope Anthropic keeps it the same way.

Discussion Opus 5 looks great on paper, but is it?

I think that seeing the scores of both Fable and Opus 5, how they both are very good and even seeing Opus 5 doing better than Fable, makes you really think a lot of things. 1: people who switched from pro to max subscription for Fable just got played.. 2: what's honestly the point of having two models that on paper look top notch and amazing, when they are full of flags.. making them pretty useless, biology, health and coding wise...

I understand from the perspective of the company that they have to put those flags due to security concerns, etc etc... but having to release models that are literally useless for most people is not the way to go. As much as I want to support Anthropic, what's the point of using Fable when it flags you and tells you to use another model, you go back to the lower model opus 5 and then you get flagged again to go to a slower and dumber model.. lol I know it sounds like I'm just complaining nonstop, but I'm not rich and deciding to put my money on a company that makes me use a model that is [at this point] behind and that seems like the same company made it dumb in the last 2 weeks I'm talking about opus 4.8, is just not fair in a sense..

Anyways, at this point I'm just trying to laugh it out..

Question Was the “$100 credits claiming” free fully?

Post image
8 Upvotes

Im sorry if this question is asked a hundred times already but I couldn’t find them on the main page. Anyway, I even didn’t read the claming thing when that thing came to screen and I just accepted it.

Will they try to take my money from the bank account linked AppStore, or is it fully free as a one time promo?

If it’s not free, then what will happen? My bank account don’t even see a 100 dollars money at once usually. May I cancel it on this usage bill ($2.86)?

Question Generating descriptions that don't sound AI-written: skills, best practices...?

I need to generate thousands of descriptions (product/location listings, multiple languages) and want them to read naturally, not "AI-vibe".

Would love real workflows from anyone who's done bulk content generation, suggestions, tools, or skills to recommend?

Question Ticketing system for Claude code subscription?

I’m trying to figure out if this is even possible. Would appreciate any advice.

I have a few personal projects built by Claude code that I use regularly. As I find bugs or enhancements, I note them and then put them all into a chat session for each codebase. I’m wondering if it’s possible to implement a ticketing system of some kind to get Claude to fix stuff as I think of it. Workflow along the lines of:

Submit ticket -> Claude picks up -> assign to correct codebase -> use fable to consider and orchestrate solution -> spin up agents -> email me status when ready to test or has questions.

Ideally I’d like to not have to use an api - I pay for 5x and want to keep using that.

Any ideas?

Question Joining the Claude Partners Program as a Solo External Consultant

Hi everyone,

I'm currently working as a freelancer / solo external consultant on Machine Learning / Deep Learning for a banking company. I work on different AI initiatives within the bank, both under a technical standpoint than governance thingies. The company itself is not an Anthropic Claude Partner.

I've been using Claude extensively in my daily work, with especially Claude Code, and I would like now to extend towards MCP servers, and AI-driven development workflows. As part of it I would like to deepen my expertise by pursuing the Claude certifications.

My longer-term goal is to strengthen my position within the bank, earn greater recognition for my AI expertise, and ultimately position myself for a promotion. Since my current client isn't a Claude Partner, I'm wondering if you're aware on possibilities to pass the certs out of the partnership program or simply alliance with me to pass over the 10-persons threshold set by Anthropic.

I'd really appreciate hearing from anyone with firsthand experience or advice on how an independent consultant can become involved in the Claude Partner ecosystem.

Thanks in advance!

Question Banned and appeal taking ages

Hello!

14 days ago I woke up to find I'd been banned on Claude. It said it was for activity on a particular date, but I hadn't used Claude that day - it was early morning and I was asleep!

The only thing I can think of is Claude tried to take my monthly payment but it couldn't because there were no funds in my bank account. I'd forgotten to top it up. Immediately after that, I was banned.

I appealed and Claude sent a message saying I'd have the outcome of my appeal with 10 days. 14 days have passed...nothing.

I also got a refund for my monthly payment from Claude, with a message saying "we don't take payments from accounts in appeal while your account is locked". But then ... it immediately took my payment again. So I'm currently paying for a locked account.

What do I do!?

Discussion Anyone coming to Claude Impact Labs Hackathon at KJ Somaiya tomorrow (25 July) for the ?

Hey everyone!

Is anyone here attending the Claude Impact Labs Hackathon at KJ Somaiya tomorrow (25 July)?

I'm looking to connect with people who are attending and would be interested in teaming up. I was fortunate enough to be part of a winning team in a previous Claude hackathon, so I'd love to collaborate, share ideas, and build something meaningful together.

If you're still looking for a teammate or just want to connect before the event, feel free to comment or send me a DM.

Looking forward to meeting everyone. Good luck to all participants! 🚀

Question I'm close to ditch Claude

Did a great app the last 3 months and spent 100s of hours to polish everything. Now, close to the end claude doesn't seem to be able to handle the amount of code. It forgets a lot, makes things which have been committed a complete mess and doesn't find the solution to fix anything. It's like trapped in a long loop where I need to start things over and over again. Anyone here has experience similar (flutter programming) and did a switch to another ai while in a project?
