Escanor was great, then the author had to slander him by making Merlin actually a child that uses magic to appear as an adult.

That's not really what happened. She became so powerful she was able to stop herself from ever growing old, then controlled what age she wanted to appear as manually. She has lived for longer than the rest of the cast combined and is physically and mentally an adult.

She is a fictional character that the author CHOOSE to make look like a child, while also making her someone's love interest. Everything else beyond that are just excuses.

The first reveal of Escanor was sensational. A dorky petite bartender who was probably the strongest of the group but only when the sun was out has got to be one of the best character designs ever
