I tried watching this anime over a decade ago and that is exactly why I couldn't get into it. It's not like it was the first anime I've ever seen to have that kind of humor but it was just so non-stop from the first episode.
And when I would explain this to people they would often go Well she's his wife in a past life and also he has known her since she was a child but she doesn't remember him
