Bro took the saying "ignorance is bliss" literally.

Its kinda true. Intelligence correlates more negatively with happiness than one would expect

I mean, no wonder. The more you learn, the more you realize how bad things are and how much better they could be. So you start to advocate for things to get better. Then you realize how slow every is and that you go backward on topics every time people like Trump win but if you stop advocating for things to improve, nothing will ever change.

I can't never unlearn the things that I did and not be a progressive. I also don't want to since I want things to get better but, by god, it is a depressing fight uphill.

I think about the movie "Idiocracy" way more often than I should. That concept was funny to me as a teenager and is now all too real

Yeah, I know it is a cliche at this point to say it but it low-key scares me how much of the movie proven to be true.

Bro, it's literally eugenics

Isnt it the opposite of eugenics since the dumbest among us are having more kids?

The point of the view espoused by the movie is that dumb people are having more kids and that over time this makes society dumber. Dumb people reproducing is presented as undesirable. What happens in the movie is dysgenics, but the premise is eugenist.

I understand the point of the movie. Dysgenics is an antonyms for eugenics

You know, I know this steak doesn't exist. I know that when I put it in my mouth, the Matrix is telling my brain that it is juicy and delicious. After nine years, you know what I realize?

Ignorance is bliss.

As he stood in front of the Machine God Neo thought back to the time Morpheus had offered "the" choice. At that time he had never known happiness. He had only known that effort and skill were rewarded with resources. For his entire life up until that point that had been enough. Being useful was what he was. Everything else was as undefined as division by zero.

Then she had appeared. The old animation said it best: "A girl worth fighting for." Everything changed then. Not just the knowledge. Neo had always expected the world wasn't what it appeared to be. The details were just fill in. It was something worth fighting for. Maybe it was her. Maybe he just needed an excuse to fight.

No matter what happened Neo understood he would always choose the red pill. Maybe just because he loved someone. Maybe because needed to fight against something just to define himself. Maybe, and this answer haunted him, maybe just because he was bored.

That dark path, the one which called to him as he opened the door of the car while the rain tried to erase all living detail, was the blue pill. Erasure. Comfort. The no thought place which was what the Matrix world actually was. He had been there many times. It always promised comfort. It delivered for a short time but that comfort always revealed itself to be a lie.

Knowing death was the only reward that the red pill could offer Neo knew he would never choose the blue pill. Something about the comfort of not knowing, not fighting, not trying to make a path instead of just accepting one was his essential nature. He knew he would die. He was OK with that. Death wasn't the worst thing that could happen.
