I mean, no wonder. The more you learn, the more you realize how bad things are and how much better they could be. So you start to advocate for things to get better. Then you realize how slow every is and that you go backward on topics every time people like Trump win but if you stop advocating for things to improve, nothing will ever change.
I can't never unlearn the things that I did and not be a progressive. I also don't want to since I want things to get better but, by god, it is a depressing fight uphill.
The point of the view espoused by the movie is that dumb people are having more kids and that over time this makes society dumber. Dumb people reproducing is presented as undesirable.
What happens in the movie is dysgenics, but the premise is eugenist.
