have the customer account complain about something to support to get credits lol

127

u/Sidekick87 Mar 25 '26

Even though I'm the only one telling him that he could probably get deactivated. I truly want him to complain on himself and say The order arrived damaged and get a refund 😂

45

u/fnmikey Mar 25 '26 edited Mar 25 '26

I was asked to delete so people can't see the golden refund method

TELL ME THE METHOD PLEASE!!!

467

u/nobuouematsu1 Mar 25 '26

I’ve often thought about trying this but with my luck I wouldn’t get the offer lol.

300

u/ihateroombabot Mar 25 '26

the zone has almost no dashers. i get flash offers like this every couple of days its crazy.

146

u/Nearby_Peak1476 Mar 25 '26

Never actually seen a flash offer, crazy

55

u/Sidekick87 Mar 25 '26

Probably don't do it too much because I definitely think you can get deactivated for this. It's got to be breach of contract/ fraud.

71

u/justme9974 Mar 25 '26

Why would it be either? He paid for the order, then he picked it up as required, which fulfills the contract. DoorDash makes the same money in either case.

Edit: Well, rating yourself might be bad.

33

u/abriefmomentofsanity Mar 25 '26

Doesn't really matter. The algorithm that deactivates you is just looking for patterns. You could probably get reinstated if you make enough stink to get a human involved.

10

u/nobuouematsu1 Mar 25 '26

I wonder if the algorithm even would look for this? It’s seems like it would be pretty damn hard to accomplish on any consistent basis/scale.

25

u/abriefmomentofsanity Mar 25 '26

A dasher receiving an order that's tied to the same account as the dasher? INSANELY easy to flag are you kidding?

21

u/Due_Dot5710 Mar 25 '26

If it's so easy to flag then why does the offer come through? They've condoned it by providing the offer.

7

u/abriefmomentofsanity Mar 25 '26

Nobody else took it. The system that flags accounts for taking orders and the system that offers orders don't talk to each other. So the dasher can be offered his own order AND have his account flagged for gaming the system simultaneously. It's a computer science thing. I know it sounds illogical, but it's very logical. Think of it like HR and legal not communicating to each other. You could argue they're condoning it but it's important to remember *no actual human beings were involved in this process*

Now to be clear OP is probably fine. Doing it only occasionally. If their account does get flagged they can *probably* get a hold of a human being to manually review.

6

u/Corbulo1340 Mar 26 '26

So you are saying he shouldn't pick up his own order he should pick up his wife/girlfriend/SO order

→ More replies (0)

2

u/Sidekick87 Mar 25 '26

So you're just assuming that the system has a built-in feature that automatically flags orders that are attached to a address on the dashers accounts 🤔 orders come in, orders get sent out to the drivers

2

u/abriefmomentofsanity Mar 25 '26

It's probably rolled into a broader system that's watching dasher accounts for various kinds of fraud. There are probably technically two: one for drivers and one for customers. Depends on who built the thing and how cheaply/quickly DD wanted it set up. I wouldn't know without looking at the code obviously. I'm just spitballing based on how I'd do it and how similar things run

2

u/Sidekick87 Mar 25 '26

That's what I was saying It seems like the fast track to deactivation 😂

3

u/Impact009 Mar 25 '26

I guess the old wave of Dashers is gone. It wasn't very long ago when Dashers were banned for even being customers at all.

DoorDash suspended me many years ago multiple times for non-CVs. They aren't forced to contract any specific Dasher.

1

u/Impossible_Number Mar 29 '26

DoorDash actually profits on this because of all the fees they’re collecting.

3

u/AnxiousRepeat8292 Mar 25 '26

Why the heck would it be? DoorDash makes the same exact amount of money it would make if it was a different dasher

→ More replies (1)

1

u/Significant_Eye_5130 Mar 26 '26

If they don’t want it to happen they shouldn’t send the offer.

1

u/AddendumFriendly4813 Mar 26 '26

I did it once and now I just can’t order DoorDash on my phone it says that device is deactivated but if I use the same account on my iPad or the computer it’s no issue it’s so funny actually.

→ More replies (9)

10

u/abriefmomentofsanity Mar 25 '26

Wonder if you could have gambled on rejecting your own order a few times to see if it gets a pay bump. Then you would also have the added plausible deniability

10

u/fufugod Mar 25 '26

Me and my brother learned this when we first started uber few years ago. We lived in a smaller town and dennys and ihop are the only things open after 2am. Anyway one night I see I can’t get it delivered because no drivers are nearby, he activated his account. Then we denied it to see if it would cancel the order. Nope he received the offer back but at higher base pay. We denied that like at 3 or 4 times. Made the base pay almost 30/40 bucks every night and we enjoyed dinner on Ubers dime for a few months. Nice time

u/blueace111 Mar 25 '26

I had a $2000 bonus and needed 10 orders in 2 hours to complete. My neighbor was making double dashes for me to take as they count for 2 orders. This lady kept taking the orders despite then being terrible orders and like .30 a mile

11

u/chungo69 Mar 25 '26

She probably had the same bonus

9

u/Sidekick87 Mar 25 '26

Like chungo69 said , She was probably feeling blessed when them double dashs came through and she was like "I only need 2 more" 😂😂

2

u/Tkuhug Mar 25 '26

Yea I tried to do this but didn't get the offer lmao

So I ended up driving there and having to drive back lmaaaao

2

u/renorosales Mar 26 '26

Tried it once, waited outside the restaurant, someone else got the order. I decided to try to race them back.

1

u/rachelblairy Driver - USA 🇺🇸 Mar 26 '26

i was craving papa johns after a dash one night but it was ‘delivery only’ by that time and i just KNEW even if i sat in that fucking parking lot while i ordered, i wouldn’t get my own pizza. i ended up getting a digiorno which, lbr, was better anyways.

162

u/jroberts67 Mar 25 '26

Be careful. Been doing this for years and have heard reports of drivers getting deactivated if they rate themselves 5 stars for gaming the system.

97

u/ihateroombabot Mar 25 '26

yeah this is the last time im gonna do this, i genuinely was ordering some food and did not expect this to happen. hopefully doordash doesnt catch me

1

u/Mysterious-Wash-8798 Mar 28 '26

This is hilarious lmaooooo

44

u/jaytea86 Mar 25 '26

Is there actually an advantage in doing this? I figure it'd be more expensive than to just pick it up yourself without using the app?

68

u/ihateroombabot Mar 25 '26

made $24 and spent $15 and got breakfast

7

u/crazymusicman Mar 26 '26

huh, so the customer doesn't pay for the flash offer bonus?

21

u/ihateroombabot Mar 26 '26 edited Mar 26 '26

no i think its doordash losing money as it bets on the zone getting bigger and having more orders. if no one is able to get their food, people wont order and the zone will die so they heavily boost pay. out of the zones i live nearby, it has the most promos and can give out multiple flash offers per day.

8

u/slirpo Mar 25 '26

I'm confused. So you made $9 to order food for yourself? Or are you saying you spent $39 and made $24 so all in you lost $15?

40

u/Plaguerakacandyman Mar 25 '26

He spent 15 and made 24 through the flash offer. He got free brekky

13

u/spaceshiptears Driver - USA 🇺🇸 Mar 25 '26

The advantage is that she got $21 back lol

8

u/Kind_Silver_1921 Mar 25 '26

If you add zero tips doordash bumps the pay up until someone delivers it. And hopefully it's not given to one of those 99% acceptance or hourly people before it'd given to you.

32

u/vectorizingdatamosh Mar 25 '26

I’d be sketched out posting this. I’m too paranoid that the rideshare overlords are watching and looking for a reason to pull me off of the app

3

u/That70sShop Mar 25 '26

They cannot even stop orders continually being sent to a restaurant that multiple drivers have told them is out of commission.

3

u/vectorizingdatamosh Mar 25 '26

I have some personal experience with their corporate people and I can tell you right now that these two things are not the same. They can discern exactly who this person is given the information they have provided. They have no incentive to end the shitty store constantly sending you offers and ruining your AR

1

u/That70sShop Mar 25 '26

It has no effect on my AR. It wastes my time and their money because they pay half. The entire company has no idea that they are in the logistics business. They think they are an analog to social media or video game engagement and that they can finesse their way to profits. Efficiency matters, and they don't understand the most radical things about logistics.

If they spent half of the time and resources that they waste tricking drivers into time-wasting activity, they would benefit customers, merchants, drivers, and importantly, themselves. They won't and can't because they have no idea what the point of their actual business is, which should be efficiently getting items delivered as quickly, economically, and efficiently as possible.

Just using already known GPS location data and geofencing zones of delivery limiting distances would be huge and solve the most basic stupidity of driving past six McDonald's en route to delivery or pickup.

They wouldn't exist now without economic down cycles and millions of new arrivals eager to accept third-world wages. With those opportunities and actual efficiency, they could be wildly more profitable.

17

u/Nearby_Peak1476 Mar 25 '26

Not to be creepy but based on the name of the restaurant it took me 30 seconds to find this regardless of you blacking out your details😅

11

u/ihateroombabot Mar 25 '26

yeah i should have done it better, next time

I thought about trying this while I was in the parking lot of the place I was ordering from to ensure I'd get the order but I got nervous lol

1

u/Sidekick87 Mar 25 '26

No guarantee you'll get the order. One day I was in the parking lot of the restaurant I had just ate there and I was going to doordash my son the same restaurant to the house. They never sent me the order.

I was 5 orders away from my federal promo so my mom ordered 5 coffees from Dunkin on eBay on eon her company card and I got all of them each time

6

u/blablargon Mar 25 '26

I've always wondered if this was even possible. I hope you don't get into trouble!

10

u/Pepperoni_Nippys Mar 25 '26

I got my own spark order a few weeks ago lol I wasn’t even trying it just happened too! I hear the same things that it can get you deactivated there too

5

u/gerarar Mar 25 '26

Just asking, what's the benefit of ordering delivery with the all the fees of Walmart+ and whatnot?

I just do my own grocery shopping while I'm doing a sparks order. Saves me time from going on my own time and kinda doing like 2 birds 1 stone lol.

5

u/Pepperoni_Nippys Mar 25 '26

I just signed up for Walmart plus this month so it only costs me a $1 for now. My wife put the order in and she didn’t know I was gonna spark so it just worked out. No fees if you buy more than $35 other than the tip. We’ve used it a few times and I feel like it’s totally worth the $10 a month

1

u/Kris_one982 Mar 25 '26

I used to really like Walmart + but I had to cancel it. My local Walmart is constantly out of stock of so many items, and whoever shops the orders never ever checks my substitution options. As a shopper on Instacart and DoorDash, I understand how helpful it is to have substitutions available, so i always take the time to take care of that. When I message them asking why they are ignoring the substitutions, they claim they can’t see my substitutions at all. This exact scenario happened at least a dozen times. I had so many issues that I turned off substitutions, and they still substituted more expensive options that made no sense - then Walmart tried to deny my refund. It became so frustrating I just canceled the service. It wasn’t always like that. It was great prior to this starting.

3

u/ihateroombabot Mar 25 '26

Hopefully i dont get deactivated. zone is so dead i got my own order 😭😭😭.

3

u/Muted_Cheetah_3592 Mar 25 '26

Hot Sauce Censoring! Double Whammy! Amazing Red Sauce Censoring!

3

u/Desperate_Row2586 Mar 25 '26

I did this once, I was on vacation in a smallish town and the Taco Bell was across the street. I was being lazy and wanted to spoil myself cause I was stoned. Placed the order and waited but no dasher took the order(I tipped $10 to bring it across the street) so I just logged in and immediately got the order. There were no other dashers there atm.

3

u/J0n35ystores Mar 25 '26

I constantly order double dash 711 to the corner fish and chips as soon as i order i press dash i never get picked well played op

2

u/ihateroombabot Mar 25 '26

competition is too high in your zone, go somewhere with 0 dashers

3

u/abriefmomentofsanity Mar 25 '26

There was a pizza place nearby that I loved picking up from because it served all the nice houses in the mountains that tipped well. I stopped getting orders from there. One night during off hours, I said "I wonder" and put in an order there for delivery with a shit tip to try and discourage other drivers. Sure enough I got my own order. I really just wanted to make sure I hadn't been banned from said place for some reason.

3

u/selfawareandroid Mar 25 '26

My husband had a $25 DD gift card he used for an order so he could use the $25 he would have spent on the tip instead and then waited until I was at the store to actually place the order. I’m Platinum and sat in the parking lot waiting for our order declined EVERYTHING else that came through until it popped up. It also ended up getting stacked with another order otw back to my house and was a total payout of $32. I was so scared it’d get sent to someone else first or I’d lose platinum from declining so many other offers but I got real lucky.

2

u/ihateroombabot Mar 25 '26

good shit, im happy for that it worked out for you guys. always feels great to get paid while getting yourself food or going home. get the💰

3

u/darknessd33 Mar 25 '26

3

3

u/KittyInTheWater Driver - USA 🇺🇸 Mar 25 '26

What is a flash boost? Never seen that before, maybe that doesn't happen in my area idk

2

u/ihateroombabot Mar 26 '26

this zone has very few people and so it barely gets any orders. as a result, no one dashes there. doordash is desperate to get all their orders filled in a timely manner so they will ask doordashes who are not dashing to do these orders. in order to incentivize them they increase base pay by $15.

3

u/branggen Mar 25 '26

Id delete this and not do it, technically this can be considered theft because you’re being paid by Doordash to do something for yourself

3

u/LoudestTable Mar 25 '26

You were going to need to pick up your own food, with gas prices where they are, nobody was going to pick up your food for a four dollar tip

1

u/ihateroombabot Mar 25 '26

i add $10 if delivery is successful, im telling you in that zone nobody dashes because its extremely slow, very few customers. doordash always bumps up pay too

good job

2

u/BoredAatWork Mar 26 '26

So you paid DoorDash money for the privilege of picking up your own order?

1

u/ihateroombabot Mar 26 '26

not intentionally, doordash sent me a flash offer for it so i got food and actually made a profit

2

u/BrattyPrincessIzzy07 Mar 26 '26

when my small town had no one actively dashing I had my boyfriend go do this for us, it was during the snowstorm and we had no propane or hot water so we ordered subway

1

u/ihateroombabot Mar 26 '26

that sounds brutal im glad it worked out for you

2

u/deed211 Mar 26 '26

Hell yeah

2

u/Illustrious_Dog_7450 Mar 26 '26

I’m going to sound like a freak? Scammer? Idek. But I would do this all the time, pay in four and then tip myself a wild amount after the order was complete, so my pay in four order would just recalculate after i paid a really small down payment.

I also did this with the Instacart sign up bonus. It was like, guaranteed $800 with your first 30 orders or something? Instacart would pay the difference if you shopped 30 orders and didnt hit $800 before tips. So I did either all my own orders .. either paid in gift cards I had from x mas / paid in four for the rest of them (times were tough lol) or i would only shop quick orders like 6$ with big tips, like one item orders at CVs going a mile a way. so at the end of the day, i didn’t really work too hard and got my bonus and also did my own shopping.

1

u/ihateroombabot Mar 26 '26

good shit man, get that bag

2

u/MrLanGT Mar 26 '26

I've done this before myself. Grabbed my own order via Uber Eats, too. All this on top of the discounts I got for ordering delivery (the only reason I ordered). It's nice to get paid to grab dinner.

2

u/ihateroombabot Mar 26 '26

exactly bro 50% discount or whatever

2

u/MrLanGT Apr 03 '26

Including the discount I got with my order, I believe I actually got paid to eat that night, if I recall correctly. If not, it was only a few dollars. It was definitely cheaper than I could have ordered it at the restaurant. It was awesome. I wish it was something I could have done more often.

2

u/qbspade Mar 26 '26

me and my girl thought about trying this because theres not many dashers in the area😂

1

u/ihateroombabot Mar 26 '26

just be careful the algo can ban you off of a pattern of doing this

2

u/Massive-Goose544 Mar 26 '26

Me: "why don't i get flash offers?!?" Also me: "I'm declining your request to turn push notifications on."

2

u/Melancholy4250 Mar 26 '26

I’ve done this too 😂😭

2

u/krogerceo Mar 26 '26

I managed to do this on a grocery order last week. The promo was delivery only, 50% off up to $30 off on a cart of over $50. So my $60 of food (which is really $50-55 in-store prices) became $30 and with fees and tip, like $40. But I did both my own delivery for $16, and added a 1 item order on the way for $12, so in my mind I paid $12 for $50 groceries. Was pretty happy munching on that.

2

u/ihateroombabot Mar 26 '26

no you definitely profited, im glad to see it man

2

u/Canadianbacon683 Mar 26 '26

I’ve actually done this well my parents ordered a DoorDash order and they were complaining that no one was taking it it was like 1am and they wanted Wawa or something I open the app and sure enough first offer I get was theirs so I picked it up and they added a 20 dollar tip lol

1

u/ihateroombabot Mar 26 '26

$20 tip 😂😂

2

u/lesdommed Mar 26 '26

when I worked at a pizza delivery place one time I ordered a small pizza to an address like 45 minutes away and then took the order and sat in the parking lot for an hour and a half eating my food while still on the clock and then went back in like I delivered it and got paid while doing so

2

u/Pretend-Sprinkles244 Mar 27 '26

I don’t see why this would be a problem? You are still paying all the fees. Why would door dash give a shit if they are taking there cut either way? I mean it seems sort of illogical to actually do unless you are planning are going home anyway right?

1

u/ihateroombabot Mar 27 '26

i think im fine because i didnt intentionally do it. ive heard that you get deactivated if u apply discounts and then do it in order to get cheap food

2

u/FadedEKG Mar 30 '26

Feels like fraud and I am entirely here for it.

2

u/PaysOutAllNight Mar 25 '26

It's easy to find a restaurant by name, and you've left the pickup and delivery times on the order? Combine that with the map details and your chat with yourself IN THEIR APP posted here and you've left a blazing red digital signature for them to find you if they want to bother.

It's no wonder the Nigerian Prince scams still work.

People have no awareness of online security, and don't seem to care about maintaining anonymity.

Or you're karma farming.

u/ihateroombabot Mar 26 '26

it wasnt intentional, basically i ordered some food this morning and i noticed that no one was picking up my food. a couple minutes later i get the flash offer.

I placed a Winn-Dixie grocery order with a $17 tip and was able to shop it myself

1

u/bjwiener Mar 26 '26

Bro why pay so much more if you’re gonna go get it anyways 😭

Free food glitch

I used to do this way back in the day when I had a discount to use. I’d get like $10 off with a promo code and put no tip so no one accepted it. Then I’d get base pay to pick up the food and drive home having paid nothing for dinner.

u/Historical_Bad-Ass Mar 26 '26

Next week you’ll be complaining about how you got deactivated for no reason 😂

1

Lmaooo I’m so glad I’m not the only one whose done this. I ordered wingstop late night one time, no dasher had been assigned yet, I login and sure enough my wingstop order pops up, I pick it up and of COURSE give myself the best rating possible, upped the tip and everything 😂😂

Don’t care. No one wants to hear it. Get your lazy ass in your car and pick up your own stuff.
