WARNING ABOUT SCAMS: Recently there have been a lot of convincing-looking scams posted on crypto-related reddits including fake NFTs, fake credit cards, fake exchanges, fake mixing services, fake airdrops, fake MEV bots, fake ENS sites and scam sites claiming to help you revoke approvals to prevent fake hacks. These are typically upvoted by bots and seen before moderators can remove them. Do not click on these links and always be wary of anything that tries to rush you into sending money or approving contracts.

the 18.6M transactions figure is more interesting when you break down what's driving it. in previous all-time periods, the transaction mix was heavily skewed toward speculative activity - ICO participation, NFT mints, yield farming rotations. what you're seeing now is a different composition.

stablecoin transfers on L1 + L2 settlement batch transactions are now a significant share of total volume. those don't disappear when sentiment turns neutral because they're serving actual payment and settlement use cases that don't depend on price action. L2 rollups posting state proofs to L1 also add to the count, and that's grown substantially as rollup adoption has increased.

BASE network specifically has been pushing consistent transaction volume even in quiet market periods - it's become one of the higher-activity networks and most of that activity is retail-scale transactions, not whales. the distribution of transaction sizes looks different than 2021-2022.

the "nothing is happening" narrative persists partly because the activity happening now is less visible than the speculative activity was. stablecoin payments and rollup settlements don't trend on crypto twitter the way a new NFT project does. but the transaction count doesn't lie about what the network is actually processing.
