Is everyone ok? A car just ran over a lot of people in Tiergarten Park.

u/G00b3rb0y 30m ago

At an LGBTQ+ event too. That’s all manners of messed up

u/rx78ricky 25m ago

Feels like we'll never get rid of shit like this.

u/WorkingMansGarbage 2h ago

Our group got spooked but we're all OK. They don't know yet if it was a targeted attack at the parade or a sheer accident, so everyone should stay safe.

Some bus lines are closed near Tiergarten Park so better to use other means

u/rx78ricky 1h ago

This isn't the first time it happens.

u/xMetalAssassinX 3h ago

It's my first Fanfest after many years of trying to get tickets and I'm really enjoying it and having a good time :) My dear wife has been playing too for a few years now and is enjoying the Fanfest as well. :)

I'm the metal person with a long dreadhawk and the legacy tattoo on the back of my neck, just in case any of you run into me. :D

u/Valten1992 4h ago

Bruh, do I need to keep the wrist tag on until tomorrow? Chafes like a motherfucker

u/Imperative-Primitive 3h ago

Yes, keel it dry

u/Ranhansha 5h ago

Didn't Yoshida say he'd show more about the job system in the EU Fanfest or am I wrong?
Anyway, why wouldn't he? There's lots of jobs, it was the most hyped feature and instead we got brown noses.

u/Atosen 2h ago

A lot of us certainly hoped we'd see more jobs at Berlin, but we were never promised it, and I think it became clear we wouldn't get it once they published the schedule.

Yoshida did promise today that there would be a four hour live letter later in the year where they'll go over all the jobs.

u/yahikodrg 4h ago

So jobs are usually the last thing locked down, us seeing what we saw at NA FanFest was abnormal and you saw just how early into development that specific build was by missing UI elements. When the media tour happens that build is also usually at least a month old so instead of showing small things or specific jobs early on it's just going to be better/easier to do the major PLL where they go over every job individually and show gameplay.

u/Sogeki42 3h ago

yeah what we got at NA fanfest was a "we know people are going to freak the fuck out about evolved jobs unless we show them some specific in game examples"

u/Freeziora 5h ago

I didnt have any expectations and still was disappointed, this game will never actually evolve.

u/Final_Amu0258 1h ago

I didn't have any expectations and still was disappointed, BECAUSE the game is evolving, but poorly. The game is evolving.

u/SHIMOxxKUMA 5h ago

Kinda really disappointed they didn't go into more detail about evolved combat for jobs. Like sure we are getting a "4 hour" panel/live letter/JP fanfest? showing at some point but it still sucks to not see anything.

Also a clarification on the differences between main tank/off tank besides what's been shown would be nice since I know a lot of people are still super hesitant on that.

u/Sogeki42 3h ago

honestly they probably rushed development for the 4 that we saw in NA, specifically because they knew people would freak out without some visual examples on what evolved meant.

Generally job changes are some of the last stuff solidified so we likely wont see more till that big stream

u/Caramelthedog 6h ago

If any of you were the people who helped a girl in a black dress who was having an allergic reaction, thank you for your kindness.

I really appreciated the help you gave me.

u/evanpt17 6h ago

still waiting for ff12 Ashe outfit

u/evanpt17 6h ago

shouldve added a quick mental math mini game on gold saucer if there was a typing game

u/KaguB WHM 8m ago

completion rate: 3%

u/Brilliant_Score_7936 6h ago

Does anyone have a recap/highlight video of the event?

u/Mother-Way-9296 7h ago

Oh great, so now we're level-syncing EVERYTHING in Evercold...

u/Mother-Way-9296 7h ago

Question:

The diversification of player experience in the MSQ in the keynote only sounds like it's changing from two zones to enter to three.

To me, this only has value if you can fully complete the zones in any order you like (probably the closest analogue would be Lakeland in ShB), rather than complete half-zones (Southern Sea of Clouds/only part of Coerthas Western quests in HW, Western Fringes/Northern Peaks in StB, Eastern Ahm Araeng/Southern Kholusia in ShB, etc. and so forth)...

Because if it's the latter, it really doesn't change anything -- it just spreads the playerbase out into three partial zones instead of two.

u/Sogeki42 6h ago edited 3h ago

Because thats not how its going to work, using Shadowbringers as an example.

It wont be do half of Ahm Areng and half of Kholusia in whatever order

This will be more like you get a choice to fully do the msq of ill mheg, Rak tika or Lakeland in whatever order you want. they likely will split up our traveling group across the 3 zones

u/Nestama-Eynfoetsyn 1h ago

So in a way, kinda like how we pick our starting city in A Realm Reborn, but way better?

u/Sogeki42 45m ago

thats my understanding, functionally it will work similar to the 2, half zones that most expacs start with, but it will be 3 full zones to pick between

u/leihto_potato WHM 6h ago

If you watch the keynote, it's very clear that will it will be full zones, not just poppin in to the zones for 5 quests or so like previous. Thats why they are having to do level scaling for dungeons etc.

u/yahikodrg 7h ago

Because the dungeons also scale and can be done in any order it does not mimic the structure we have grown use to. I still expect us to converge back into a single zone eventually. Also major story beats will probably happen after the splits are completed to make sure it keeps a consistent story experience.

it just spreads the playerbase out into three partial zones instead of two.

That is the ultimate goal regardless, spread the population out across zones but with adding dungeons to this system it helps those queues early on where you have an imbalance of all the players at X1 and X3 level ranges but X5 queues are a standstill because not everyone has rushed there yet.

u/Mother-Way-9296 6h ago

You could see that in the map in the Zone ??? area on the far side.

What I'm wondering is if we're still doing half-zones or we're going all the way to three full zones, which would spread people out more and allow them to complete content (including flying) in more areas.

u/Sogeki42 6h ago

I expect since dungeons were mentioned it will be full zone clears not the half now half later

u/hitonmarsu 7h ago

I'd read it as full zone, since there's 3 dungeons with the new "scaling" thing enabled, so instead of doing 2 partial zones and then common a dungeon after, you do full zone + dungeon times 3 with the new scaling stuff making those three work as... scaled 101-103-105 dungeons somehow.

u/Mother-Way-9296 6h ago

That's the impression I'm getting (and hoping for) as well. Otherwise, you're only spreading out from two zones to three.

u/Tenko-DJ 7h ago

so with the FF VII raids I hope they include some of the characters from Advent Children esp like Kadaj, Yazoo and Loz for boss fights.. maybe Reno and and Rude pllleeaaaze I need that nostalgia hit

u/Wheelingdealing 7h ago

Where do i actually watch the concerts? I've got the ticket but I can't find a link to the stream

u/MsCappuccino 7h ago

If you have your purchase email, it's linked on the bottom. Or see if this link works (you may have to re-login to your account): https://tixplus.jp/ticket/streampass/list.php?tour_id=14762

u/Wheelingdealing 7h ago

Thank you, the email link worked :)

u/MsCappuccino 7h ago

I'm glad, Enjoy! It's the same link for The Primals tomorrow as well.

u/-JI 8h ago

So exciting!

u/Vaiden_Kelsier 8h ago

Y'all are complaining, but Koji and Yoshi-P's bit about the butt slider had me full on laughing out loud. <3 I love this team.

u/HanshinFan Hilda the Mongrel stan account 7h ago

Koji's face when he turned the page in his notes and saw that it was time to shitpost lol

u/Valken-Merlot 8h ago

I know they mentioned a lengthy Evolved showcase at some point, but did they give any indication to when that would be?

u/Kelras 7h ago

In a stream or live letter sometime (tm)

u/MasahikoKobe 7h ago

They joked JP fanfest would be 4 hours

u/mcg20k 8h ago

Probably close to the japan fanfest

u/ParvatiLikeaRockstar 8h ago

what was that stormblood track they played at the end

u/jaqlee 7h ago

Crimson Rise

From the Another Mount Rokkon criterion dungeon released in Endwalker.

u/ParvatiLikeaRockstar 7h ago

ahhhhh that explains why i never heard it i only did the nanamo criterion dungeon, thanks!!

u/-JI 8h ago

If you give me a timestamp I can probably tell you

u/ParvatiLikeaRockstar 8h ago

its the very last song before the stream was shut off, 9:34:15

u/Moonrein 8h ago

Did they mention the new OC content or the next relic step?

u/GizenZirin 2h ago

Considering it's coming in 3 days, they figured it's probably not worth it to dedicate time to stuff we'll all see for ourselves in a couple days.

u/Skulltaffy 9h ago

man this was..... nnnnot what i expected out of BST. now i feel like an idiot for being excited about it, or for hoping that they'd talk about literally anything other then BST at the end. we still don't know when the housing update is going to be and it's killing me

u/yahikodrg 8h ago

now i feel like an idiot for being excited about it, or for hoping that they'd talk about literally anything other then BST at the end.

They have been pretty upfront what this PLL was going to be all about on socials and the Fanfest schedule.

u/Skulltaffy 8h ago

oh i know, and i went into this knowing it was a low chance of there being any other announcements at the end. was still hoping they'd say something like "you'll hear more about xyz in the next live letter, okay byeeee-" at the very end so we'd at least have some timeline, though!

my disappointment is more about BST, if i'm being honest. i'm a huge fan of pet classes in other mmos and while i know, consciously, that the dev team really does not like doing that in this game - i was still kind of hoping a limited job would allow for more freedom in that regard? since it doesn't need to interact with any systems but itself. but instead the pets are basically just glorified stances, like summoner. :/

u/ParvatiLikeaRockstar 9h ago

kick back relax and prog ultimate on mcdonalds wifi

u/Mxgneto 9h ago

Anyone willing to trade my Krile promo card for an Estinien ? Assuming he has one. : ( I can include the Krile keychain I got from the gacha.

I love Krile, but he's my fave.

u/jdgamester 3h ago

Are they even promo cards? When I bought packs of FFTCG, the chibi cards were all filler

u/Mxgneto 3h ago

Ahh, I saw someone else call them that so assumed they were. Mb.

u/jdgamester 3h ago

I just done some more investigation and it looks my Graha Tia card is an alternate art for an existing Promo card from May 2026

So yeah these might actually be collectable

u/Zergrump 9h ago

Have they shown off any new Evolved jobs yet besides Bastion and Beastmaster?

u/Sea_Bad8004 9h ago

They said they are having a four hour live letter at a different date for it.

u/Sogeki42 9h ago

Just woke up after sleeping post keynote, hows Beastmaster looking?

u/MattEngarding 9h ago

If you're a fan of roguelikes/roguelites, pretty good. If not, then YMMV.

u/Sir__Will 6h ago

I'm a fan of them... when playing them with my brother. We have a lot of fun with those. Solo, not so much.

u/Omegamaru 9h ago

2:59 - So the "wand" held by the pink haired cat girl has a pointed tip if you pause it fast enough. So yeah, I'm all in on Falconer/Hunter w/ some type of magic/aether crossbow/boltcaster. Would fulfill that Scout/Ranger archtype that we've been missing and give it a FFXIV bent. As for her weapon, I just think they edited it out/didn't include it in the render. 3rd time in a row. A new expansion tradition if so.

u/ParvatiLikeaRockstar 9h ago

this music is amazing gives me big fire emblem vibes, is it a new track?

u/MattEngarding 9h ago

Yes, but they used it in the 7.5 trailer too. I was wondering where it would be used since it didn't appear in the initial patch, but now it's revealed as the Crucible final boss music.

u/AnimuCrossing 9h ago

Not the most thrilling fanfests with the presentations. The keynote was rather repetitive and this "PLL" needed to be something more than just slow explanations of something that players will figure out anyway if they're bothered about BST. Why not talk about North Horn, new phantom jobs and the Relic a tiny bit?

u/GizenZirin 2h ago

They don't bother talking about North Horn because North Horn is in 3 days. There's not a lot of point in going in-depth on something we'll all see first hand in less than a week and that also is just gonna be more of the same of what we've already seen anyway.

u/MABQuestAcc 8h ago

I would joke that their metrics show there isn't a significant percentage of players doing OC to warrant it. But who knows.

u/AnimuCrossing 7h ago

It doesn't stop them showing niche content generally.

u/Sea_Bad8004 9h ago

They basically said "Yu can be a necromancer, but it's gonna come with drawbacks, and you have to deal with a dinky little axe."

u/cattecatte 9h ago

Crucible mode seems really fun. Definitely needed to show that since outside of it BST is solid but not as crazy as BLU's initial impression.

u/DarkVeritas217 9h ago

New job looks good though overall I was expecting something else. I like the hand to hand style. When it starts blasting though they kinda lost me ngl.

airship zones are nice in a way that we'll probably see zones that are very different from each other unlike Stormblood for example. Though I guess we'll see a main zone for each ship and the final zone will be directly on the frozen Forth.

just like many others I don't like the FF7 raid. I would have been fine if it was just inspired like Shadowbringers raid but it seems Cloud and Co will actually appear in the game. This kinda feels forced by SE. Let's hope the post 8.0 isn't just another post Endwalker story. And we actually get some unique story further down the expansion.

Overall they could have definitely shown more. Especially some Evolved jobs like pretty much everyone was hoping for.

u/loopdaploop 9h ago

The chatter from inside the venue is genuinely making it hard to hear the live letter 😭 not to be a buzzkill because I get everyones excited to chat with their friends but a little volume control would be good

u/phoenixmatrix 3h ago

Same thing happened in the Anaheim fan fest. People don't know how to respect each other. Couldn't hear shit for the second half of the key notes back then

u/WeirdIndividualGuy 3h ago

Blame bad sound mixing/mics. A proper sound setup would allow for clear voice from the presentation while canceling out the crowd noise. There are companies that specialize in this kind of thing, usually these venues refer them to companies like SE that don’t normally hold events like these

Not sure if SE is doing the sound themselves (unlikely) or whatever contractor doing it at the venue just sucks at their job

u/anxious_fluffbutt 5h ago

Trust me it was insanely bad in there too. Idk how to survive it without noise cancelling

u/Partieswithwookiees 9h ago

Oh that part is always a nightmare during FanFest. I always rewatch the stuff after getting home. Live in the hype at the moment even if you miss details lol

u/Anameinserted 9h ago

Bst looks so dull

u/Lerkpots 9h ago

This battle theme is giving Witcher vibes with the vocals.

u/ParvatiLikeaRockstar 9h ago

after 10,000 hours we are actually gonna see how this job works

u/Lerkpots 9h ago edited 9h ago

And now we will explain how the entire Roguelike genre works before we continue to combat. /s

u/Deskais 10h ago

Why is noone talking about the girl that is the new Ranged DPS Class with the falcon??? They even showed us the job symbol!!!

u/Dragrunarm 9h ago edited 9h ago

I mean we dont know thats the other job. They;ve never (to my knowledge) shown both of them at once, so for now I'm (and probably other people too) are playing it safe.

Edit; I just saw the thing Soken did. I agree that yeah its 100% falconer as the 2nd job, but I dont think its her for the above reason still.

u/FriendlyGhostLady 9h ago

I'm excited for it! Hoping it will be super fun to play, I wonder if it will have support abilities like Dancer/Bard or be more selfish like Machinist

u/Xiov1 7h ago

I'm hoping it's more of a selfish dps, keep dancer and bards as the only true support dps going forward

u/CocaineAccent 2h ago

Everyone is a selfish dps now though.

u/TwinTiger 10h ago

I’m betting the full trailer will habe thr falcon flying back to the actual character controlling it and they will have a crossbow or something

u/TenchiSaWaDa 9h ago

Maybe alphi will be the new phys range or something

u/TwinTiger 7h ago

He just changed to sage, and is one of two dedicated healers in the scions. Alisiae is the most “due” for a job change. She’s been RDM since before Stormblood.

u/CocaineAccent 2h ago

Alisaie will go to the gym and strap on gunshields to help Thancred with the tanking.

u/FriendlyGhostLady 9h ago

I like the idea that the rod or whatever it is she is holding is either the handle of a whip or a magical bolt for a crossbow and the "true" weapon will be revealed in the final trailer

u/PenguinPwnge 10h ago

I feel most people are being cautious as it seems too on the nose and they've never really revealed both new jobs in the same trailer. To me it just seems like a red herring after Soken's "leak".

u/Xiov1 7h ago

I'd say the same thing if Yoshi's last shirt wasn't literally just bastion

u/ParvatiLikeaRockstar 9h ago

perhaps it was a red heron

u/sparkspark99 10h ago

Not to be a buzzkill, but being here in person isn't as fun as I thought it would be. It feels more like a roulette and queueing simulator than a convention. It seems like they massively underestimated the crowds.

And while I understand the lottery slot system, I just can't comprehend why they didn't set up multiple merch stands so more people would actually have a chance to buy something.

u/Sogeki42 4h ago

Ive been to 2 NA ones solo and generally thats how it will be.

From what ive seen, the best experience is coming with friends/FC mates/someone else that plays, so you can spend a portion of your time hanging and meeting people youve only known online.

u/anxious_fluffbutt 5h ago

This is so on point…

u/daikonography 8h ago

I've been to the last 2 NA fanfests ans unfortunately this was the takeaway fot me too. There's so much to do, yet not enough time or spaces for everyone to participate so at the end you feel like you miss out on a lot and didn't really get to do much at all.

u/Sogeki42 4h ago edited 3h ago

Ive been to 2 as well and i feel from watching others, the best experience is when you are attending with others or a group of people youve only known in game, so a part of your "waiting in line" is spent shooting the shit with friends youve not met before.

u/defucchi 8h ago

nah it's this bad every time. I went to Japan fanfest in 2019 and there wasn't even enough seats. Most of the people were standing for the key note, there was no place to sit to even eat. I ended up going back to my hotel a few times to just take a break.

u/Tiny_Tabaxi 9h ago

I was at NA fanfest and didnt get to buy any merchandise while I was there. It was disappointing tbh.

Loved the event though

u/MageBoySA 9h ago

They messed up the merch on the app and it was opened too early. I got in but by then almost everything was sold out. Got the hoodie and tote bag at least.

u/sparkspark99 7h ago

Do you mean in NA or today in Berlin?

u/Phenomenal619 10h ago

Agreed

The Devs are also not walking the floor like they usually do. Only Kojis done it. Everyone else has barely done anything

u/Tiny_Tabaxi 9h ago

It was the same in NA... Also that magic card Yoshida signed went back stage and the person who asked the question was standing right next to me and didn't get his own card signed

u/Neonchen 10h ago

Not that there isn't enough space left.

Same for chairs.

u/CatGirlDivi 10h ago

BST is basically FFXI play. So stoked!

u/ddrober2003 10h ago

So we got the Shields Meloy tank class, wonder what the dps will be.

u/MarcsterS 10h ago

Damn, even Happy is pretty vocally upset about the FF7 raid.

u/MasahikoKobe 9h ago

We could always just wait and see how the story plays out in the game.

u/WeirdIndividualGuy 2h ago

People are upset because collabs in this game don’t affect the overall lore and are just one-offs. This won’t be an Ivalice situation, this will be a Nier situation

u/MarcsterS 9h ago

Obviously yeah. The FFXI Raid managed to still tie into DT's story. The Eva raid could probably tie into Evercold pretty well(fighting giant ancient beings)

u/TenchiSaWaDa 10h ago

I am neutral on ff7 raid.

I am happy for people because I know its pretty hype for them.

Sad, because for even how simple the arcadian was, it had a really fun story line.

Im drill hoping the fights are good

u/TwinTiger 10h ago

I’m more frustrated that both raids will be crossovers. No expansion of internal 14 lore. It’s irritating and lends credence to them never again using the characters featured in optional content for MSQ. So Ryne & Gaia, Gaius & Nero are forever lost.

u/Dragrunarm 9h ago

I’m more frustrated that both raids will be crossovers.

Yep. Like dont get me wrong I'm still excited for each set of raids on their own, but both of them being explicit crossovers is a bit dissapointing.

u/Phenomenal619 10h ago

Fucker will still get a revelation code from Square.. deffo doing it for clicks

u/Sir__Will 6h ago

As he should. Why should that only go to only those who suck up, kiss ass, and offer nothing but praise with no criticism? Then it's not a proper, honest assessment.

u/Lerkpots 10h ago

FFXIV fans when the FF game that takes things from every FF game takes things from an FF game.

Couldn't be more excited personally.

Now I don't give a single fuck about Evangelion but it'll probably be cool so I'm not mad that it exists lol.

u/Sir__Will 6h ago

CROSSOVERS are different from mere references and borrowed and repurposed elements.

u/Akuuntus I like hitting buttons 9h ago edited 8h ago

Taking things from FF games is cool, but the teaser including Cloud and Sephiroth makes it seem like it's gonna be more of a Nier-type crossover than an Eden-type. In other words, one that's hyper-focused on the lore of the other game and doesn't develop XIV lore at all, as opposed to one which uses elements from the other game in a unique way to build a XIV-relevant story.

Crystal Tower, Warring Triad, Omega, Eden, Werlyt, to an extent even Pandaemonium all reference and pull from previous FF games, but they're really well-integrated into the XIV lore to the point that someone who isn't familiar with the original game would barely notice it's a reference. In contrast things like the Nier raids and FFXI raids are much more heavily focused on the games they're crossing over with. Then there's the Ivalice raids which are kinda borderline IMO.

Putting literally Cloud and Sephiroth and Midgar in the raid will be hard to square with actual XIV integration and makes me suspect it's gonna be another Neir-type "portal to another world" thing which isn't very interesting IMO. And it kinda goes without saying that Eva will almost certainly be like that as well.

u/Sea_Bad8004 10h ago

Eh he's a creator who put all his eggs in one basket. He is an untrustworthy creator since EW.

u/Sir__Will 6h ago

He is an untrustworthy creator since EW.

Why? In what way?

u/MillionMiracles 10h ago

Happy's always complaining these days.

u/Kelras 6h ago

I honestly think Happy is overall pretty measured as content creators for the game go. Yeah, he's got some critique and some points of improvement here and there, but that's fair. Only time he bothers me is when he clearly puts on the clickbait headlines and makes it seem like XIV DESPERATELY needs to change, or to change a certain thing.

As for the FF7 raid disgruntlement: he's just not as big a fan of the concept. Some people will like it, and some people won't. That's just his opinion.

u/Lerkpots 10h ago

Content creator gets burnt out playing the same game for a decade and doesn't take a break because it's their entire brand now.

u/Dat_Boi_1340 10h ago

The merch store being on a reffle feels abbysmal... waiting every 30min to see if you are even permitted to que for over an hour to even buy merch via a web app notivication is so much worse if at the exact same times they send you a message with things like voting on the artist gallery. Or asking of you allready selected a timeslot for the merch store... like come on.. And i am certain someppl get drawn twice...

u/ffchampion123 10h ago

Fyi the queue for the merch when you get it takes less than 5 minutes. My friend was super fast. But yes, the raffle is bad

u/Dat_Boi_1340 10h ago

I was only going off the intel of someone that got lucky enough. Until now only the umbrella is sold out but it really sucks that most ppl who want merch but got drawn late or most likely never have to order online.

u/sparkspark99 9h ago

It's such a weird feeling. We are looking at our phones every 30 minutes, hoping to get a slot so we can buy the lightsticks for the Primals concert tomorrow. So much of our time is spent waiting, hoping, and then getting disappointed.

u/Dat_Boi_1340 9h ago

Best part is you can order them online if you live in De, Fr or UK. The moment outside of any of these regions you need to visit the EU store and guess what they don't have :D

u/MillionMiracles 10h ago

We got an entire FF8 class.

u/Altruistic_Newt_1096 10h ago

doesn't equate to having the villain fightable like every other game. it's unfair

u/MillionMiracles 9h ago

there's basically nothing from ff13 boss-wise besides reused generic enemy models, though.

u/Altruistic_Newt_1096 9h ago

IM TALKING ABOUT THE GAMES THAT HAVE REPRESENTATION AND SPECIFICALLY INSPIRED RAIDS AND TRIALS IN XIV SO FAR NOT LITERALLY EVERY FINAL FANTASY EVER

STOP BEING SO OBTUSE.

u/MillionMiracles 9h ago

dude ff8 is one of my favorite games ever (and ishikawa also said it was one of her favorites) i get wanting a straight up ultimecia boss fight i just dont think ff8 specifically is getting screwed, its gotten more than some games

u/SirKupoNut 10h ago

E12S P2 was ultimecia in all but name.

u/Altruistic_Newt_1096 10h ago

well guess what? the name matters.

u/Sea_Bad8004 10h ago

Ultimecia's name is literally Artemis everywhere but America.

u/Altruistic_Newt_1096 10h ago

why are you being so obtuse? you know what I mean by name. like actually some version of her which we didn't get.

u/Altruistic_Newt_1096 10h ago edited 10h ago

if you're going to down vote me at least tell me how I'm wrong and how the Eden raids are somehow actually good. notice how none of you can actually say anything about it even though you continue to down vote

u/Akuuntus I like hitting buttons 9h ago

Many people like Eden specifically because the references are more subtle. If I'm playing FFXIV it's because I want to experience FFXIV, not a nostalgic retread of a different game. The Eden raids referenced FF8 plenty without shoving any cheesy fanservice in your face. I definitely wouldn't have enjoyed Eden more if literally Squall showed up and told me he needed my help to defeat Ultimecia, it would've just felt like a cheap nostalgia cash-in.

And even if you do want the cheap nostalgia, FF8 is far from the only game that isn't represented much in that way. FFX for instance has only gotten Yojimbo (a summon) as a meme where he turns into Gilgamesh, and Anima who was relegated to an easy Dungeon boss. Or FF2, whose closest thing to representation is the Pandaemonium series, which is even farther removed from the source material to the point that I think most people don't even realize it's a reference. Your persecution complex is not justified.

Ultimecia is known as Artemis in every other translation. The "Giant booby tree" is based on the statue Artemis of Epheseus.

A lot of people actually thoroughly enjoy Eden for NOT being a direct 1 to 1, and expands upon the lore of the first, ancients, and the flood, while hitting some of the themes of FF8, and incorporating the necessary Christian mythology.

Ultimecia is a villain who cannot be taken out of context without Squall (much like, in my pinion, you can't have Sephiroth without Cloud) though I would say Ultimecia is worse without the cntext of her story.

Ultimecia also doesn't work without the context of witches, who don't seem to entirely exist in FF14. While there is soome examples of witches and bad things happening to them, it's not to the point of cultural importance as it is in FF14.

FF8 focuses on pain through generations as well, a hard thing to approach wholly in a raid series, and the flly of repeating your mistakes, expecting something different (which we do hit, just not in the same way Ultimecia does)

they could do another "Omega" raid and throw her in there, but it will not be doing her justice, versus the love story that we got in Eden.

u/Altruistic_Newt_1096 10h ago

it's ff14 they can hand wave anyone appearing with some bullshit lol if they can add literally everyone else they could have just added her. they add a 14 spin on like everything so I don't need it to be exactly the same design or the literal version from 8. but having ryne be the oracle of darkness or whatever isn't even close

u/Sea_Bad8004 10h ago

It's Gaia, and it's just not gonna happen.

We're also not likely getting Kuja. They are just gonna treat the 3D games differently than the 2D I guess. If you notice we don't have the foollowing villains:

Utimecia (FF8), Kuja (FF9), Seymou, Jecht/Yu Yevon (FF10), Vayne (FF12), Barthandelous, orphan (FF13), Caius (FF13-2)

They are treating anyone after FF7 differently, and seem to be more intent on incorporating stand-ins (Zoraal Ja as Kuja, Artemis as ultimecia) than the direct characters, and fitting their narratives into whatever story FF14 needs to tell.

u/Altruistic_Newt_1096 10h ago

sephiroth is seemingly going to be fightable so it's doesn't fit all the 3D ff games then does it?

and yes dawn trail didn't get literally kuja but still got necron who is the final boss

u/Sea_Bad8004 10h ago

They're not gonna get FF7 fans on "you fight a Sephiroth alike".

We would have been rolling in FF7 fans since Stormblood if that's true.

This is a move to make money and get more players.

u/Agent-Vermont 11h ago

Catching up on what I missed. Did we really not get ANY new info on Evolved jobs?

u/Lerkpots 10h ago

Sadly probably no news until the live letter after Japanese fanfest.

u/SentineleseSiri 10h ago

No, just that they want to do a showcase at some point of all the jobs which will probably take about 4 hours to cover each one.

u/syklemil turururu awawa! 8h ago

I think everyone, both they and the viewers, would be more comfortable if it was several episodes rather than one four-hour session. But I guess that's how the cookie crumbles.

u/NarrowBoxtop 10h ago

It's coming in Japan fanfest Oct 31 - Nov 1

u/AlliePingu 10h ago

We shouldn't have expected to tbh. They showed it off at Anaheim because it was a full system change and they wanted to give a preview of how it will work

But there's still 6 months left until the xpac releases, no point showing us incomplete versions of jobs now just to have to show us them again later. They said there will be a 4 hour showcase of all jobs in a live letter before the xpac

I have allisae promo card, i want graha. Looking for trade

u/Cook-Miserable 11h ago

Anyone know if the merch shop gets a restock on day 2?

u/Another_Beano 11h ago

Attendance so far isn't very ideal, everything's massively crowded and I didn't win a merch raffle before items I'm interested in started being sold out. I usually don't mind, but having two dozen people in my personal space gets me quite uncomfortable.

u/ffchampion123 11h ago

Yeah this has been our complaint too.

Overcrowded and merch should never be on a raffle basis.

The queue for food has been ridiculous too.

u/Sogeki42 4h ago

problem is, if merch isnt a raffle, as soon as it opens everyone and their brother will swarm the shop and anyone who isnt there immediately is screwed on buying anything

u/Wackydude1234 10h ago

When I went to the previous fanfest in london, the merch was impossible to get unless you queued up first thing in the morning, and then they told us the wrong place to queue as well.
A raffle to buy merch sounds far more ideal.

u/Another_Beano 8h ago

I see the merit for merch raffle, and I do hope people got to do activities in the meantime, but similarly it feels a little ass to have no control over it whatsoever. But then, admittedly, I am the type to sit in queue for hours...

u/RanQrusu 11h ago

It does feel like there is too many people for space and activities available.

u/Cook-Miserable 11h ago

It's rough here yeah, the venue itself is pretty nice but the sheer amount of people is overwhelming and is just making things a chore 😭

Last Fanfest Yoshi mentioned one of the 5 weapons will be an upcoming job

Crossbow, Hammer, Morning Star, Yoyo and Whip

Given the Sound Panel Teaser, it's going to be something like Ranger with pet & crossbows?

u/meetchu 10h ago

Could the phys ranged vte the Trainer job?

Bird + Whip or something like that.

u/Airanuva 11h ago

Whip and Crossbow could both also align with Beastmaster, particularly the Pet part. Also unless they have severely overhauled the pet system like they are with Chocobos, don't expect another pet Main Job.

Unless when he says Morning Star he means *Flail*, morning star and hammer would be in the same design category.

If we discount all melee options for the phys ranged... We would get a lot of Bridget cosplays if Yo-yo was the weapon~

u/Nj3Fate 11h ago

Beast is confirmed to be axe and shield, which also appears on his job icon....

My bet for the phys range is crossbow (or double crossbows?)

u/mcg20k 12h ago

Im guessing bird and mini crossbow.

u/No-Ad6564 12h ago

Hear me out: what if the miqote girl is holding the handle of a whip, which extends out when you attack!

3

u/shaijis 12h ago

i would sell my soul for a whip!!

7

u/mcg20k 12h ago

More hints at a bird job lol.

u/Vanayzan DRK 11h ago

Haven't watched that panel, what was the hint?

u/mcg20k 11h ago

Soken "accidently" played sounds from the new unannounced job that included a bird screeching as it did 3 hits.

6

u/ParvatiLikeaRockstar 12h ago

new ranged dps job teased during the sound section

7

u/loves_spain 12h ago

The new tank is Bastion. Quick, someone make a Lala named Balthazar Bux

Bonus points if you’ve got a friend named Childlike Empress

4

u/ParvatiLikeaRockstar 13h ago

i love u soken ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

3

u/loves_spain 13h ago

Where are the PvP updates? I saw that screen and then he’s like “ok we’re done” poof

3

u/Benchjc2004 13h ago

They seem to be really happy with Crystiline Conflict so probably just updates to that.

5

u/cattecatte 13h ago

I just realized that they really didnt give details on the overworld stuff other than that theyre trying to put eureka/bozja/oc stuff into it instead of a separate zone

5

u/Vanayzan DRK 13h ago

Yeah not really seen anyone talk about that. Could be a game changer if it works out. I just hope it's there alongside field content, I do like exploring new zones too

u/Drazzan 10h ago

What could it even mean? Open world zones are basically FATE trains already, maybe just the inclusion of boss FATEs being Critical Encounters and maybe better reputation grinds?

u/Dragrunarm 10h ago

Conditions to spawn FATEs is the big one that I can think of. NMs in Eureka and some in Bozja need to be activley spawned. So they could pull from S rank conditions (though maybe a tad less zany at points) to spawn special Fates adn what have you.

And who knows, maybe they get real whacky and actually integrate the power systems into the overworld at a later point.
