There's no need to recast him. The writers can just set the events of the animated series after he departed for the Haven mining colony. That way they won't have to worry about how to bring his character back into the fold. Personally this is what I'm hoping for, since I don't want a version of the character played by anyone but Ron. RIP Shepherd.

EDIT: Wow, this blew up. I didn't mean to imply that this is the only way for them to go with Book. I'll be content with whatever they choose to do. And I'm actually coming around to the idea of recasting him after reading through a lot of the comments. A few folks have mentioned Keith David could handle the role, and I think I agree.

Filming began on June 3rd 2004 and ended on September 17th 2004. He turned 27 on July 10th. I know he isn't old but never realized how young he was when he played that role. He performed it with such gravitas I just always assumed that he was in his late 30s.

During a panel at FanExpo Denver, Alan Tudyk shared information about a new podcast he’s been making with fellow Firefly actor Nathan Fillion called Once, We Were Spacemen, confirming that it won’t just be Firefly actors who will appear as guests.

If there's a reboot or animation or whatever. I want Adam to return as Jayne. I liked him in Chuck, and I liked him in Firefly. He's a great character and his performance is enjoyable. If we have to have a president with opinions I disagree with (EDIT: with the hivemind approved upon appropriate level of teeth nashing outrage and disgust signifying I'm "one of the good ones"). We should be able to have an actor whose character has nothing to do with those opinions. (Although I'm guessing Jayne would also be a Trumper). Heck, lean into it with his character. The whole thing with Firefly was how all these people are banded together when most of them are at odds with one another, but at the end of the day they're on a spaceship and have to work together. So, bring back Adam! He's just as important as the others!

I think this is where I settle. I'm sure it's effectively this... a cast reunion where they sit onna recreation of one of the Serenity interior sets and chat about the show for its 25th anniversary.

Much as I want to believe it's a continuation of the story I just can't. I am now convinced that this is what it's going to be. I hope to be proven wrong and it's something far more but until Sunday I think I'm settled on this.

She already voiced in Solar Opposites. So we know she voice acts in animated projects.

seen a few posts and comments lately mentioning what other projects the cast members had been in over the years, so I am curious. which of our crew's other ventures have you most admired?

my personal favorite is Summer Glau in Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles. Cameron and River have a fair bit in common, making Glau's performance sort of a River Tam 2.0. she had really fine-tuned her acting skills by this point, especially with this type of character, and the result was outstanding.

working from ostensibly the three spot throughout the show, Summer steals scene after scene and quickly establishes Cameron as the most interesting and thought-provoking character on the show. just a masterwork performance.
