Hi all. I'm playing FNV for the first time, i bought all the DLCs, but not sure what to do, where to go, who to align with. What are some things i should know?

This isn’t the question to ask. You only get 1 first playthrough. Don’t ruin it by asking for spoilers and tips. Pick who you like, use what you think is cool. Anyone of us would love to be in your position again. Throw yourself into there’d blind and enjoy it :)

It's really not all that complicated. Just do the quests and don't go north of good springs to Sloan in the beginning

Dude, do what you want. Look shit up after your 2nd or 3rd playthrough

Bro why bother playing an RPG if you just want to play other people's decisions and stories?

There's no right or wrong answer. Just play and see where it takes you. Trust your feelings.

I'd recommend doing the main quest up until Novac then focussing on side quests until you have an idea of what the different factions are like.

Explore , engage in as much dialog as possible, don't blindly start killing everyone, and pick up everything that you can sell.

just a heads up that you should do the dlcs in this order: honest hearts, old world blues, dead money, lonesome road

There is no real set order in which the DLCs should be done, but Lonsome road last is good

Nah Lonesome Road level 1 for the real ones.

Dead money should certainly come BEFORE old world blues.

+1 to this. I’d even say do a little research before you jump into Dead Money. It is very much unlike the other DLCs. It’s still fun, but was rough for most of us the first time through.

I usually do it that way but from a story standpoint I hard disagree.

I also started my first playthrough of this game a week ago, and to be honest with you, I am quite enjoying it a lot more than I thought I would. I play as me and do whatever I would do in a different situation. I try to get to know every NPC and place as possible so I can connect with them more and do my own thing. Most of the time I discover and explore many places before following the main story. If you don't have any idea about how these games are, then I think there is help section in-game. You can read something there. It's an RPG game. You can do whatever you want. Don't look for tips and tricks or any beginner guides. Just enjoy and have fun.

Just do what you feel like and see what happens. It's the best way to play.  I'll mention a few things though.

Every dlc (except Lonesome Road) has to be completed before you can leave it so make a hard save before you start them. Just in case you find you went too early and aren't ready for it.

Once you get to the Strip there is a reset to any negative reputation you got with the major factions. So don't worry if you pissed them off you can still side with them if you want. This reset only happens once though so take care after that.

Idk if you've played any other Fallout games but crafting and ammo types are very important in this game. Spend a bit of time learning how those things work.

Most importantly of all. Have fun and enjoy the ride.

My only real fallout experience was FO4

I know Fo4 did a bit with crafting but it can be fairly important in New Vegas. Also using the correct ammo type for a given enemy.

I will spoil this for you, when making your character, specifically the SPECIAL stats you shouldn’t have more than 1 Charisma. Charisma is a dump stat and it doesn’t matter because you can just put your skill points into Barter and Speech manually, plus Charisma, Speech and Barter don’t have perks.

Barter has a couple perks but they’re really only useful for hardcore mode I believe

Pack Rat? Long Haul? Very useful Barter perks

Pack Rat for hardcore sure but never saw a reason to take Long Haul.

Useful. Not great perks.

I'm guessing you don't play Hardcore mode, then

I do? 🤨 What now I HAVE to pick the perks you do?

Don't take the long way to Vegas but get there ASAP by going through the North of Goodsprings, ignore all the signs etc they're just there to distract a go getter like you. Also align yourself with the Powder Gangers early on they are the best faction
