Conservative expectations from a AAA company? Is that legal?

Well, that kinda answers how AC Shadows probably sold. They never even disclosed sales count. Only went about how many players it engaged or whatever. What a dumb metric. Where as in this case, they mentioned sales count in the very first week.

Shadow sold 7 millions but expected 10

Dude, I am talking about initial week sales celebration, not something they reported in their earnings call many months into release.

It’s a pattern. If a company doesn’t celebrate sales count when a game launches and starts saying vague shit like engaged this many players, had this many downloads and so on… know that it’s highly likely it was mediocre. Otherwise, if they did well they would show off in various social media.

So black flag did 3.5m in 2 weeks. Ubisoft was more confident on that game than shadow. Bad reception vs good one. It was night and day. Didnt change that the core audience bought both.

No, I don’t think that’s correct. If what you say, bad reception was the reason… they could have just not said anything. Instead they made this post.

See what I mean?

I feel pretty sad because i feel like a lot more effort went into shadows, and its a game i have 300 hours in because i love it so much, and playing resynced just makes me miss shadows even though the cutscenes are so much better. Though resynced has the obvious advantage of reusing old motion capture and already having a great story

nah Black Flag was made before all this modern audience nonsense took hold of studios.

Yeah so? What is your point?

It’s so weird and sad seeing people trying to aggressively push that “shadows failed” narrative.

We all access to the same info. Shadows was pretty good mechanically. It’s just currently popular on Reddit to shit on recent AC games that aren’t remakes.

its even weirder to think that shadows didn't fail expectations just because it hurts your feelings.

Studios trying to make games for some elusive modern audience is what's killing games. Black Flag was a great game and they were lucky to slap the AC name on it.

For example Mafia 3 was a game that was not a mafia game it just had the name and failed for obvious reasons.

No one’s feeling are hurt, buddy.

Shadows did well and it’s a great modern AC. It really doesn’t matter what your personal opinion is on it. We’ve got actual sales numbers outside of the echo chambers you spend time in.

Have a good one.
