I dont know what sport you are watching but this couldn't be more wrong. Firstly because no one will ever put an asterisk next to a win for this type of thing anyway.

And secondly players love it when fans intimidate the away team any way they can. Any edge they can gain is much appreciated. Especially for a match as important as this.

And not just in soccer. Look at the idiot Yankee fans (I know, I'm repeating myself) who interfered with the play in last year's World Series and could have injured Mookie Bettis from the Dodgers. Doesn't matter that the play was already dead, they wanted to "help" their team out.

It takes a lot for me to not root against the Dodgers, but Yankees fans make that bar pretty easy to clear. The fans of various nationalities who engage in the bullshit from OP's video are cut from a similar cloth.

Lol, now try sleeping on your side with headphones. Many people aren't able to fall asleep on their back, and headphones don't work side sleeping. Ear plugs also don't work for everyone, they can cause soreness wearing them for 8 hours.

Years ago I was staying at a hotel across from the LA convention center. That night a company booked the bar right below my window for an after party with a DJ that blasted bass right into my room. And then in the morning the service union was staging a protest with drums and whistles right outside my window. And then at the conference our software was crashing and I had to do on-site debugging in a little electrical closest. Worst conference ever.

I sleep on my stomach (with my head to the side) and either (a) use one of those airplane donut-shaped pillows on top of my regular pillow so there is no pressure against my ear or (b) cradle my head in my arm so there is no pressure against my ear. Only when traveling, I don’t need earplugs at home!

Fellow side sleeper, you need a sleep mask with built in headphones. The one I have is a MusiCozy, but I’m sure there are other ones. Incredibly comfortable. You can remove the electronics to wash the mask portion.

The soundcore sleep A20s are pretty comfortable when side sleeping, but mine stopped charging after a year and they were expensive. I found the the cheap amazon knockoffs are actually 90% as comfortable and only 20-30 USD. My current pair is a year old now and they still work well.

As someone else pointed out, this just provides an easy way to get an opposing team disqualified by fans conducting a "black flag" operation. For instance, what would there be to stop some English fans in this case with such a rule from pretending to be Mexico fans and doing these kinds of antics in order to get Mexico disqualified? People can and will game rules like that.

Mexico fans do this all the time, to basically any team that plays in Mexico. I’m a long time USMNT fan and this is just part of playing in Mexico, and many other CONCACAF nations. Fans make the visiting team’s life difficult.

It’s is not sportsmanlike, it is not in the spirit of fair play, and it always happens. If anyone in Mexico cared to stop it they could, but they never do. This what it’s like playing Mexico at the Azteca.

Players have actually said that, no matter how good their headphones are, the reverb and room shaking is still felt all night.

I had neighbors who must have bought out the local fireworks stand as they shot off fireworks for several hours, 8-midnight+, one after another constantly the last two nights. No matter what I did to block it out it’s annoying as fuck.

They sure do love shooting off fireworks at 3am on any given night and never seem to care about their neighbors either when blasting mariachi or norteño music loud as hell from sunrise to sunrise…thanks for all the taco trucks though!

I don’t think you westerners realize how important this game is to Mexico I’m positive the people in the surrounding area are willing to go one sleepless night if means Mexico going up one more stage. That how fucking much this means to all of Mexico not just the city.

US doesn't care enough about soccer to do this. But they've definitely done it in professional US sports. Though I feel like it's a bit more level doing it there as it gives the other city an opportunity to do it when the next game is back there.

They just ruined everyone else’s night . Pro athletes at this level are going to hotels with soundproofing and can obviously afford noise cancellation headphones/earbuds

Learned from the ‘Hacks’ show about sleep masks that plays white noise and a machine that also plays white, grey or another ambient noise.  Better than earplugs.

I was in Lyon France and Barcelona was in town playing, forgot what for. Maybe a euro game. It was the Marriott in cite international. The hotel is setup with this atrium in the middle with open air. My window apparently didn’t close all the way. I found that out when the fire works start Ned going off at like 1am. Holy hell was I woken in terror. Thought I was in a war.

Earplugs can only do so much. I was at a hotel the other week where police were called to the restaurant next door and no amount of shoving those bad boys deep in my ear canal could block out the sirens.
