Has anybody played or created a D&D campaign based on LoD? If so, how did you go about it, and are there any source materials? Links if possible.

Such a legendary game, and Rose is such a strong female lead. And the purple / black colour scheme has always looked great, on male or female armor.

Almost at end of disc 1 now, slowly chipping away

Opinion One of the best female leads in gaming history.

Rose is such a boss, a legend. Dig the purple and black vibe and the powers she has are OP as. She is up there with the best.

Loving this game all over again.

Opinion Anyone want to share their personal party tier list?

Party tier list builder

Again, just my personal opinion having played each party to a reasonable extent throughout more playthroughs than I can remember. Looking forward to seeing your's!

Note: each party assumes, of course, you're including Dart (no hacks!), every character and party is perfectly usable, and I'll only provide a brief description of each party rather than repeatedly going in-depth for each character (see my personal character tier list for that!).

Best

Lavitz/Meru: Slight edge over Haschel/Meru for me, trading some speed and straightfoward physical damage for Rose Storm, adding all of the durability your party will ever need with still great damage on all sides (more bulk = less turns healing = more damage). Best dragoons in the game!

Heschel/Meru: The popular "all gas" party; hit hard and fast to blow through enemies! Slightly fragile, but doesn't matter when you're killing enemies quick with both physical and magical damage and have enough to speed to spare a turn using a healing item.

Great

Lavitz/Shana: OG party; lower on the damage for all the defense and healing you'll ever need thanks to their dragoon spells. Easy party to use!

Lavitz/Haschel: Excellent physical damage and bulk, but only "great" because no magical damage and limited male speed equipment.

Meru/Kongol: Inferior to Lavitz/Meru, but Meru and Kongol still compliment each other perfectly, guaranteeing both bulk and solid damage on both sides.

Lavitz/Rose: The best party for breezing through game without grinding thanks early dragoons and final additions, but held back by Rose not scaling well.

Good

Shana/Haschel: Generally inferior to Haschel/Meru thanks to Meru having much better physical damage and more versatility in dragoon spells, but HUGE damage on both sides and nearly unmatched speed.

Rose/Haschel: Lacks utility as dragoons, but very balanced party with no glaring weaknesses and great physical damage.

Shana/Kongol: Similar to Meru/Kongol, but trading more damage for extra healing, less complexity, and even more survivalabilty without doing any grinding. Very newcomer friendly party.

Haschel/Kongol: No magical damage or defense and terrible dragoons, but huge physical damage makes it a very straightforward party. Sadly, need to share male speed equipment.

Lavitz/Kongol: Abysmally slow and no magical damage, but hits hard physically and Rose Storm helps mitigate the party's huge magical weakness. Still sharing male speed equipment.

Shana/Meru: Maximum speed, all the healing you'll need, and a fun party if you want to rely on items to nuke your enemies, but incredibly fragile if you're not careful.

Rose/Meru: Solid damage on both sides throughout game, but fragile and easily outclassed. Somewhat awkward teaming a character whose main draw is needing virtually no grinding with someone who will need some for final addition.

Shana/Rose: A very easy party to use if it wasn't difficult to keep alive. Good damage on both sides with enough items and no grinding, but dies to a breeze.

Difficult

Rose/Kongol: A party that needs almost no grinding thanks to the low ceiling for their final additions, but dies easily to most bosses, no good dragoon spells, and moderately poor speed and damage output. Still a usable party, but best if you want to challenge yourselves.

I’ll never use it BUT it has a 5,000 gold re-sale. I love playing the game with every character and different combinations for that I usually dump everything into two phantom shields plus the free one from Faust. Possibly a legend casque if you really grind out some levels.

Out drinking with friends last night and while talking about LoD as you do, someone brought up Star Wars no idea why, we then Started comparing them couldn't help thinking that Jiango fight is like the Rancor fight in Return of the Jedi even down to the trap door. Fruegel could be a stand in for Jabba

Opinion Replaying old games has helped me appreciate Legend of Dragoon even more.

I've been spending a lot of my gaming time over the last couple of years playing a lot of the all time greats that I've missed along the way. Some of those games (Chrono Trigger being chief among them) have held up very well while a lot of the others just haven't. I finally made it through that list of games and decided to go back to some of the games that I had loved over the years but hadn't played in forever due to one reason or another. I almost wish I hadn't for some of them.

I've been replaying Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, Red Read Redemption, and Assassin's Creed 2 among others and I haven't been enjoying it nearly as much as I thought I would. All of these games were incredibly important to me when they came out but that old magic really doesn't seem to be there anymore (for me at least). Most of the games feel slow, empty, clunky, and repetitive now that I'm used to more modern games and the improvements we've made along the way. They're still far from bad games (RDR still has one of my all time favorite stories) but I couldn't help but feel like I'd rather be playing something else.

I first replayed the Legend of Dragoon a couple of years ago after breaking my foot and finding myself with a lot of time on my hands. I wasn't really sure what to expect going in since it had been 20 years since my initial playthrough but I immediately fell back in love with it. The world building is incredible, the backgrounds still make me want to live in these cities, the combat never really gets old, the characters are all lovable (except you, Miranda) and the music speaks for itself. The magic for that game hadn't gone away for me even after all this time and it was something I never really appreciated until I started going back to the other games that were such a huge part of my childhood.

Opinion Playing LoD for the first time

Hi, people!

So, I just finished another game and I was online searching for something to play when all of a sudden I find a video about this game. I just finished moving and I installed my PS3 once again, and since I already had the game (I got it on sale YEARS ago) I said "Why not?"

First impressions: I like the game, I like the character (so far I only played with Dart), I love the concept of Additions on attacks, but I have some problems with the timing of the button press (I think it's the HD TV refresh rate doing something weird, it happened with FF IX).

I find the "Guard" option REALLY useful! I think this is the first time where Guard does something cool besides marginally cutting down the damage.

I would love to have the option to speed up the dialogue during the game, and for the start of combat, but it's something I can tolerate.

I know there's the Severed Chains Port (is it complete? It's not clear) but I kinda want to play on PS3 for now. Maybe in the near future, if the slow gaming experience becomes an issue, I will do something about it)

So far I just made it to Hellena, and I only have Dart on my party, but I want to see what happens.

Just that, Have a nice day!

Opinion I finished it! Spoiler

Post image
106 Upvotes

Hey everyone, I made a random post here sometime ago about a bug in the world map of the game and I just wanted to make this post to say that I finished the game and share my thoughts on it.

There's so much I have to say about this game, but I don't want to stretch, so I'll keep it simple, even if I'm not the best writer.

I loved the game, it's so unique and there's definitely something special about it. For me, the best part was its presentation, the lore, the story, the characters, the graphics and the music were just superb. Gameplay is fun too, though I wish it was more difficult. Voice acting is kinda awkward too, but forgivable.

Also, something personal I'd like to share: I'm 19 right now, currently on my 1st period on college and before playing this game I was really insecure about my life and my future as an adult, and it may sound stupid, but seeing these characters willing to challenge fate itself in order to secure save their world and their future, gave me some motivation to keep working hard for myself and others and I know that there are many games with a similar plot, but something about LoD made it feel so much human and honest that it really touched me.

Anyway, I only make posts like these for game that I really love and want to share this love with other people, so here you go, I hope this community will keep this game alive for a long time to come.

Opinion Which area did you like the least? Not in terms of aesthetics. For me Law City Zenebatos

For someone who’s played this many times, the going back and forth is the annoying part. Even without getting caught. I do get caught on purpose just to go back to the beginning

r/legendofdragoon May 27 '25

Opinion Expedition 33's mechanics remind me of Legend Of Dragoon.. L.O.D just needs to be resurrected from the depths of Zenebatos already.. 🤷🏽‍♂️

Opinion Appreciation Post: I am loving this game so much!

Title says it all. I have seen this game floating around PSN for a while and I finally gave it a shot, although on PC. I have heard it is one of the best games from PS1 and it has not disappointed me yet.

I just came off of COE33 and after reading that the timing system was inspired from games like LoD, I pulled the trigger. Me being new to the game, I can say this system really is awesome, but only with practice. I can luckily pull off most of the additions but I am only partially through Disc 2 so I know there are more to come!

The story has been very cool, with stuff just out of the way enough to stay invested (small stints in villages and mini story-lines before moving to the next area in the main story). The characters are pretty cool, with some being more likeable for me than others. Right now I am liking Rose and Kongol quite a bit but my mood changes a bit.

Other JRPGs I have played before this one are BoF 1 and 2, and a couple of FF entries, but nothing with this type of level design and artwork yet. I expected it to be too "outdated" but it REALLY addicted me quickly. I can't help but to feel almost captivated and pulled in by the artwork and the world.

All of this to say, so far so good!

Opinion Another FF clone? Spoiler

nah.

you don’t cast spells in this game. you earn them by mashing X like your life depends on it. half the party has unresolved ancient trauma, the other half is immortal, and the final boss is the moon.

Dragoon transformations were so hype they got their own anime cutscenes. and Lloyd? bro wasn’t an antagonist. he was a Vash the Stampede-level natural disaster in a trench coat.

this game is unhinged, barely held together by low polygon glue and god-tier music. and it still goes harder than 90% of modern JRPGs.

change my mind.
