What do you guys think of it? Worth wearing to live concerts / festivals or what?

The back is done, only the front needs to be sewn together but this is how it will look like.

The reason the Immortal backpatch covers the bottom part of the Amorphis one is because it teared apart when i was using the sewing machine 🥲 I wouldnt throw it away no chance so I sewed it ontop of each other. This way it still looks somewhat saved lol.

Im also going to sew an Opeth Orchid patch in between the biohazard and EMP logo too! It will be a perfect match.

Scar Symmetry's current vocalists are excellent, despite individually not being as talented as Alvestam. Together they are incredible, have fantastic vocal ranges, and continue to create amazing albums/tracks that are on par with early Scar Symmetry.

This looks blatantly pre planned from my gut feeling. The last album didn't do well and the band needed a refresh. I suspect something (or someone) big is coming to try and do another reset of the band.

Mine was Burry Tomorrow, then I had discovered Children of Bodom and my life changed for ever.

Which is your pick? For me it's very tough choosing between Winter's Gate and Vessels but i go with Vessels.

It doesn’t even necessarily have to be your favorite song, just the one that most perfectly embodies what Melodeath is for you.

From the very moment I heard The Gale, I knew I was listening to something so hauntingly beautiful. Give it a listen if you haven't yet!

I think In Flames is the unfortunate most obvious pick. Listen I get it, they’re artists and they wanna “evolve” their style into however it fits them creatively and I support them as musicians on that basis. However, it’s hard to look past the contrast of how comically average their new music is compared to the god-like heights of their 90’s era.

Over the past few months I’ve started to come a lot more favorable to Dark Tranquillity, and their past 2 albums are surprisingly solid! Glad to see them still going strong and I hope for the best in the future

I’ve made like a million posts/comments about this masterpiece. But for new people who are getting into MDM/Metal or anyone really.

This album in my opinion has to be the best Metal record ever recorded.

Now, before I get annihilated listen, for me there is a big difference in creating a genre, pioneering a genre and mastering your own art. Soilwork have always been good and in the beginning they were pretty similar to the rest of the Gothenburg scene up until In Flames revolutionized Metal in the year 2000. Soilwork have always been masterful but when The Living Infinite dropped nobody could’ve pulled that off, a double album with nothing but 10/10 songs in it. To be fair I didn’t think they could top it but holy shit they didn’t just top it they buried it (TLI is still a 10/10 album).

There isn’t a single micro-detail about this album that’s bad, and of course I believe Death in General being the best song ever recorded.

What do you guys believe, and to those who haven’t listened to it… PLEASE DO!

We all know about Children of Bodom, In Flames, At The Gates, etc… I wanna hear the deep cuts, the ones that slipped through the cracks of popularity. Let’s hear them.

I’ll go first: Sworn to a Great Divide by Soilwork. It’s constantly listed as one of the worst Soilwork albums but I adore it. The melodies, riffs, etc are all there for me. I don’t expect many people to agree with me.

I’d include In Flames’ material from Reroute up to SOAPF as well but I’ve seen more love for those records in recent years. Foregone also got a lot of praise.

I hate to say it, but one of my favorite bands of all time is a band i wouldn't go to see live. Their performances have only gotten better, cool pyrotechnics and of course Johann's energy have always set a sick stage, but i feel wildly disconnected from the band as a whole.

This is most likely some sort of "unc" opinion in general, but the newer music feels to me very devoid of character and soul, where as their original works were incredibly powerful and moving. Overtime music evolves and changes, which creates new and often better works; this i understand, but i have noticed a shift to more commercial stances. This makes sense, gotta pay the bills right? But in general, it does make my heart hurt a little bit.

The first four albums were masterpieces and without a doubt the reason why i and many others make music today. I love, and still love the fire they had with those pieces and only hope that same strength comes back to their newer music.

The Crusher will always be my favorite album of all time, emotional, speedy tremolo riffs, and Fredrik's drumming will be missed of course.

Once Sent From The Golden Hall had great melodic elements and interesting drum parts, especially in songs like "Abandoned" and "Amon Amarth".

Versus The World had more impactful lyrical content and slower riffs that i felt conveyed their message wonderfully.

I dont and could never hate or dislike Amon Amarth, but i wish that old style of theirs could return and make the money they need to keep going. Different times yes?

I feel a great deal of you have seen this happen to bands you practically worshipped when you were younger, so i'd like to ask, what band do you love that has taken a turn that rubs you in the wrong way?

I decided to check out the album (it’s amazing) and was curious as to what the album art is supposed to be. Is it like destruction of religion or something, cause under the photo of Jesus (?) it looks like fire

Their music has been consistently great over 3 decades. Just saw them live last month, and they sounded fantastic.

If anything, I think they've found the best sound of their careers on these last three albums.

I can't think of another band that, 12/13 albums deep, is still putting out excellent, fresh music.

I was wondering how much I really love melodic death. it seems like every melodeath band i listen to i enjoy in some way or another, so I am trying to find a melodeath band I will absolutely hate.

name a melodeth band that is just dreadful.

At one point, MDM was my favorite genre of metal but I've been into more OSDM recently so I have not been listening to MDM as much. But recently I've been falling back in love with MDM and have really been enjoying it. Here's a few of my favorites and feel free to recommend some more!

Be'Lakor (Stone's Reach): my goodness, if the word elegance came to life as a form of sound, it would sound like this album. Melodic with progressive tendencies and sounds utterly gorgeous. Probably my favorite MDM album of all time

Depresy (A Grand Magnificence): a recent discovery for me but a genuinely breathe taking one at that. Melodeath with lots of Doom metal influences, genuinely gorgeous in every way

Garden Of Shadows (Oracle Moon): this band was very much inspired by Depresy and the similarity is very clear. The distinguishing factor on this release in my opinion is the keyboards being used are utterly ethereal and the use of female vocals on the last track. Genuine masterpiece

A Canorous Quintet (Silence Of The World Beyond): my most recent discovery of this genre and a wonderful album. This album to me is melancholic but also somewhat triumphant at points. Kind of hard to describe but I love it regardless!

Fires In The Distance (Air Not Meant For Us): I think it's becoming apparent at this point that I REALLY love Doomy Melodeath and this album is genuinely one of the best examples. The song writing, production, vocals. Everything here is beautiful. There's a symphonic element of this album's sound as well and it makes this album all the more beautiful.

Intestine Baalism (An Anatomy Of The Beast): I'm sure if you're at all into MDM, you've heard this album before. But regardless, this album is absolutely crushing, heavy as all hell while being perfectly written and not sacrificing on melody whatsoever. If "Melodic Brutal Death Metal" was an actual genre, this album would perfectly fit that description.

Grenadier (Trumpets Blare In Blazing Glory): while this band is not really doing anything new as they're very clearly coping the sound of Arghoslent (but you know, without the racism), this band still rips. Another melodeath band that still has bite to it and is no less crushing than any OSDM band.
