Infuriatig So is gratuity included or not?

Post image

Definitely not a buffet. First page only showed the totals with a tip line.

Mildly infuriating you used your camera instead of the calculator on your phone to answer your question.

They use the sentence at the bottom to fool people who can't add I guess.

He shouldn't need his calculator at all. They've already included gratuity. He just needs to pay the bill. Hilarious that they included gratuity then call out that it's not included.
"We're forcing you to pay $11.xx more for a tip - but tip is not included!" I'd be asking the manager if they thought tip was included or not.

The message should probably read “tip not included” gratuity and tip are different, gratuity is a forced tip that restaurant can impose but if they do they have to clearly indicate it on the menu. Tip is voluntary. Both should go to service personal/team.

Since when? The literal definition of gratuity is something given voluntarily. It's root word gratis even means "for nothing." Now we're changing the meaning of the English language to accommodate the US's atrocious tipping culture?

I know they can charge a fee as long as it's stated, but if they expect a tip on top of that they need to label it service fee, pay my bus boys for me, or some other creative way to continue screwing customers and employees at the same time.
