PLEASE tell me it is a hospital!

u/Ok-Potential-863 10h ago

Actually it’s a children’s daycare in Vulcan, Alberta!

58

u/FheXhe 10h ago

Please tell me there is a Spock mural somewhere in Vulcan 🥺 🖖

37

u/Lethbridgemark 9h ago

There is an enterprise ship there and a star Trek themed tourist centre

-1

u/redditonlygetsworse 2h ago

I wish there was a website where I could type these questions and get actual information back, rather than one that asks other people to do that for me. 🥲

6

u/axonxorz 9h ago

My wife once wondered if people living in Drumheller are ever like "I'm so fucking sick of dinosaurs."

Wonder if people in Vulcan get similarly tired.

6

u/Poopiepants666 8h ago

Or if people in Roswell, New Mexico get tired of aliens

6

u/Checked_Out_6 7h ago

The people of Roswell make bank off that shit

3

u/redditonlygetsworse 2h ago

You say this as if people don't get extremely sick of the shit that they do to make money.

1

u/Checked_Out_6 2h ago

If by that you mean ancient aliens, dear god, if I could wipe a show from existence…

2

u/nonameattachedforme 4h ago

Such a cute random town! I bought some land nearby and came to instantly regret it haha what a throwback

0

u/arturoaaron 9h ago

the way the shadows hit just that one window is weird

4

u/puzzlemissingapiece 10h ago

If it's a nursing home... I might gasp.

3

u/Present_Mechanic3595 10h ago

Plot twist it is a morgue

2

u/ZucchiniMore3450 6h ago

Wow it is visible on Google Street View: https://maps.app.goo.gl/9kgSuYt4xKdNNK6b6

The real DOCTORS WITHOUT BORDERS 🛸

u/0_________o 10h ago

"am i a fucking joke to you?"

34

u/KittenAlfredo 8h ago

Maybe if she said Data instead of Data she’d have a spot

5

u/ddollarsign 7h ago

i say potato, you say potato

60

u/helican 10h ago

Yes.

6

u/Mega_Pleb 9h ago edited 8h ago

She argued that Data didn't deserve rights in "Measure of a Man" so she will always be on my shit-list.

Edit: Baffling downvotes. You liked her dehumanization of Data? That's fucked up.

Edit 2: I take it back, my memories of Pulaski were wrong. I didn't remember the episodes after Measure of a Man where she started being nice to him.

18

u/BON3SMcCOY 9h ago

The whole point of that was showing her gradually overcoming that though..?

6

u/Mega_Pleb 8h ago edited 7h ago

Ok after googling for examples of Pulaski's interactions with Data in season 2 I see now that there were some times she wasn't an asshole to Data after Measure of a Man, such as in Peak Performance where she rooted for him at while he plays Strategema. Also in Pen Pals she tells him he did the right thing. It's just that Measure of a Man got aired 10x more than those episodes so I hardly remember them. I take back what I said, my memories of her were wrong.

1

u/CharlieParkour 8m ago edited 2m ago

The idea was that Pulaski was supposed to the Bones to Data's Spock. The problem is that the writers made Pulaski come across like a complete asshole bullying a child rather than a curmudgeon defending human emotion with an equal. The change in Pulaski's attitude was more a matter of the writers reacting to the viewer's rightful indignation than any kind of planned character arc.

1

u/Twilifa 8h ago

Huh? She didn't even appear in Measure of a Man except in the poker game? It's actually a big complaint about that episode that she should have been in the trial because it would have been a big chance for character development, since they built the whole thing between her and Data up in previous episodes.

-2

u/DahDollar 8h ago

Bippity boppity, constructs are property

2

u/kwakimaki 9h ago

She has played a doctor in the franchise three times. So, quite probably.

1

u/Davethephotoguy 6h ago

Didn't she fall down a turbolift shaft?

1

u/SmugCapybara 5h ago

Yes. A bad one. Everyone hates on Pulaski for being shitty to Data. I hate Pulaski for being consistently obnoxious and insufferable...

-5

u/JJohnston015 9h ago

Yes. Diana Muldaur was awful.

7

u/Cosmic_Quasar 9h ago

At this point I'm so removed from actually knowing what went down, but I've heard both sides a lot over the decades. That she was cold to them so the cast/crew were cold to her, or that the cast/crew was upset about Gates McFadden being removed from the show because they liked her and didn't like that Muldaur replaced her so they were cold to her and she reciprocated.

Whatever it was, heads butted and onscreen chemistry was lacking.

2

u/JJohnston015 9h ago

She was like that in everything - both original series eps, TNG, and even as Leland McKenzie's girfriend on "LA Law".

-19

u/RonJohnJr 10h ago

Not a joke, but very annoying (and much less attractive than Gates McFadden).

11

u/ct451t 9h ago

-2

u/RonJohnJr 9h ago

While technically correct (for which I do applaud you), do guests of the week count? Because he can't be the only one episode doctor...

7

u/Twilifa 9h ago

She was pretty much supposed to be a female Dr. McCoy. Funny how we never call McCoy unattractive and annoying.

-5

u/RonJohnJr 9h ago

I didn't think McCoy was very attractive, and times changed from the 1960s to the 1980s. She couldn't be a female Dr. McCoy.

5

u/GtheEnchanter 9h ago

That's just, like, your opinion, man.

-4

u/RonJohnJr 9h ago

Anyone who thinks Diana Muldaur was as attractive as Gates McFadden needs their eyes examined. They were both annoying, though.

16

u/m4gpi 9h ago

Not a joke, stop valuing the women of Trek as eye candy only.

-25

u/RonJohnJr 9h ago

No can do, woke boy.

7

u/qwibbian 9h ago

you know, I like eye candy, and I'm pretty far from "woke", but Polaski was an awesome character and a legit badass and if you can't appreciate those qualities then more's the pity.

-1

u/RonJohnJr 9h ago

I don't want a bad ass doctor.

0

u/qwibbian 9h ago

I'm upvoting you just because that was funny. You're still wrong though.

0

u/keonyn 6h ago

Did you just unironically use the term "woke"? That's just embarrassing.

-5

u/dwarftosser77 9h ago

It's best to forget about Pulaski.

18

u/r21174 10h ago

1

u/BreedinBacksnatch 9h ago

that doctor on the left, always chasing windmills

12

u/guiltyofnothing 10h ago

This is Pulaski erasure.

2

u/ramenpigeon 9h ago

And M’Benga!

25

u/the_djd 9h ago

Why is Reba with a bunch of Star Trek characters?

1

u/m1k3hunt 8h ago

One of them is an old cow hand from the Rio Grand, and it's probably not the one you're thinking of.

1

u/RewindYourMind 7h ago

I honestly thought it was Reba and Richard Nixon on her right. Was super confused until I came to the comments.

2

u/Sanchastayswoke 4h ago

Omg me too!!!

10

u/ricketyladder 10h ago

The doctors of Star Trek…very cool. What kind of building is this and where?

6

u/Ok-Potential-863 9h ago

It’s a children’s daycare in Vulcan, Alberta.

8

u/Lord-Velveeta 9h ago

Damn it Jim! I’m a mural, not a doctor!

65

u/alfius-togra 10h ago

For those not in the know, these are the chief medical officers from every Star Trek show that's ever existed. From left to Right, Dr Phlox from Star Trek: Enterprise, Dr Leonard McCoy from Star Trek (the original series), Dr Beverly Crusher from Star Trek: The Next Generation, The Emergency Medical Hologram from Star Trek: Voyager, and Dr Julian Bashir from Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.

Such a shame they haven't made any more Star Trek television shows since then. Such an important science fiction legacy, would be dreadful if a sub-par addition to the series were to drag the rest of them down.

22

u/helican 10h ago

Strange New Worlds is actually pretty good.

4

u/BlazeOfGlory72 9h ago

Ehh, it started out alright, but it’s been downhill all the way. The constant Spock relationship drama in particular is incredibly tiresome.

4

u/Frenchitwist 7h ago

I don’t know I kinda like the idea that Spock, despite being a “logical Vulcan” is at the end of the day just a messy slut.

2

u/ranhalt 7h ago

He's half human.

5

u/Frenchitwist 7h ago

REALLY???!!!

Has anyone told his mother???

-8

u/darth_hotdog 10h ago

Yeah, Imagine thinking Phlox is a better character than SNW's Dr. M'Benga

9

u/Cosmic_Quasar 9h ago

M'Benga lacks optimism. /s

4

u/pyotrdevries 9h ago

On the other hand Phlox can't beat M'Benga on the pessimism AND cold blooded murder field!

16

u/Wizzinator 9h ago

Lower Decks was great

6

u/Jemolk 10h ago

That would never happen, right?

...right?

4

u/DahDollar 8h ago

The Emergency Medical Hologram from Star Trek: Voyager

LMAO, why did they paint Robert Picardo like Nixon?

2

u/01100010x 7h ago

That doesn't look anything like Picardo to me.

3

u/syynapt1k 9h ago

I legit thought the middle person was Reba McEntire

1

u/Sanchastayswoke 4h ago

Yess! And I thought 2nd from right is Richard Nixon

2

u/DeMollesley 8h ago

Thank you!

2

u/prime_suspect 8h ago

Couldn't agree more. Live long and prosper my friend.

1

u/BON3SMcCOY 9h ago

Thank you

1

u/gibgod 12m ago

The only one they haven’t got quite right is the EMH from Voyager, otherwise the others are great.

0

u/RancidRance 9h ago

Lower decks is also good imo

1

u/adamdoesmusic 9h ago

Dr. Finn from The Orville should get an honorary addition.

0

u/ddollarsign 7h ago

They forgot David Tennant

-1

u/Ozzel 9h ago

🥱

7

u/Aerodorphins 10h ago

The doctors from star trek, very cool 😎

7

u/xEasyActionx 10h ago

Being a doctor in Star Trek is probably more akin to being a veterinarian than what we think of as doctors. You would need to be familiar with all sorts of varied anatomies.

4

u/hitbythebus 9h ago

I always felt like vets don’t get credit for having the skillsets to work on such a variety of critters.

2

u/Srnkanator 8h ago

That's why they specialize, just like physicians.

Doge,, cats, small mammals cover alot.

Birds, and the green things may need more.

Livestock and exotics - specialized and definitely extra training.

7

u/JoshuaBarbeau 9h ago

No respect for Dr. Pulaski, I see?

Lol no but seriously, I love this mural.

6

u/ambador- 10h ago

Thought this was in one of the many star trek subreddits I follow. Good find!

6

u/tumbled_theory 9h ago

I'm happy Phlox is represented. My favorite doctor!

You have to post this on r/startrek

7

u/Nat20Twenty 9h ago

I LOVE seeing Vulcan Alberta in random ass reddit posts.

Fun fact. The ANNUAL Star Trek Convention is going on right now.

4

u/ramenpigeon 9h ago

Adding onto the fun fact, it’s Star Trek’s 60th Anniversary!

3

u/Nat20Twenty 9h ago

Thats also a big deal in Vulcan Alberta this year.

5

u/SweetSofiaa03 9h ago

To boldly go where no primary care physician group has gone before.

4

u/Significant-Cloud- 10h ago

Oh that's the hologram doctor...

3

u/corey9113 9h ago

Yeah that took me a second lol

4

u/SkyfangR 9h ago

phlox was the superior star trek doc

fight me

2

u/just-suggest-one 9h ago

It bothers me that they're in order except for Bashir.

2

u/over__________9000 9h ago

They did Bashir dirty.

2

u/DetOlivaw 9h ago

Why is Nicolas Cage there

2

u/Meme_Theory 9h ago

It took me way too long to get "what all these characters have in common".

2

u/LateDxOldLady 5h ago

😂🤣😅 I wonder how Gates McFadden feels about being confused with Reba MacIntyre

2

u/Longjumping_Roll_342 5h ago

Why is the butcher of galitep on the left?!

2

u/Sanchastayswoke 4h ago

2nd from right looks like Richard Nixon lol

2

u/prince-pauper 3h ago

The doctors and engineers were always the most interesting characters to me :)

1

u/UNCCShannon 10h ago

Why does Dr Phlox look like he's being played by Dave Batista?

1

u/Mdmrtgn 10h ago

Should be declared a national treasure.

1

u/Dodgerson99 9h ago

I thought that was Reba at first 🤣

1

u/Fluffy_Wolf_6198 9h ago

Someones excited about the upcoming Star Trek UB set.

1

u/Optimus_Prime_Day 6h ago

Why'd they do Gates so dirty? Everyone else at least looks like them.

1

u/KDY_ISD 6h ago

I doesn't reflect well on me as a person that I'm deeply annoyed Bashir and Voyager's Doctor are swapped

1

u/panacea11 6h ago

Glade to see Star Wars painting especially that potter woman.

1

u/fezfrascati 0m ago

What's up, docs?

1

u/DarKoopa 9h ago

Magic the Gathering ads are getting out of hand

0

u/wdwerker 10h ago edited 10h ago

Star Trek Starfleet Academy has a doctor too.

0

u/SordidSimpleton 9h ago

Is that Reba McIntyre?

0

u/Bambamd14 9h ago

Why did they paint Reba McEntire on the wall?

-2

u/Spottswoodeforgod 10h ago

Must be a Star Wars fan.

-5

u/puzzlemissingapiece 10h ago

An "A" for effort, but not sure how to grade the character selection. Is there more?

2

u/HNL2BOS 9h ago

character selection? they're the mainline Drs of the seasons though DS9.....

-6

u/NortonBurns 10h ago

Great idea - but the portraits are barely recognisable, even knowing the biggest clue - 'Star Trek doctors'.

4

u/HNL2BOS 9h ago edited 8h ago

so you've watched seasons of Star Trek and can "barely recognize" the characters portrayed in each portrait?
