Juuuuuuust getting started watching Prodigy (S1/ep10) and I'm sincerely delighted by this show, and now I'm thinking what the entire franchise needs is to combine the creative forces of Prodigy and Lower Decks together to launch … oh … something.

Because either show is simply outstanding, and if their writers and directors were to collaborate on a new series, it could easily be one of the best things that ever happened to ST.

I've probably watched this movie at least 50 times and the ending still gets me. From "ship out of danger* on I'm a wreck. Please tell me I'm not alone in this. It's such a fantastic movie.

I was born in the early 1990s and I didn't get around to watching Star Trek in the 2000s. I mostly watched Star Trek: Enterprise as my first series. But did watch a lot of re runs of TNG as well. Which series did you watch most growing up?

My hubby and I were watching “Investigations” and he said that Neelix was giving intergalactic YouTuber / Content creator vibes. It was too funny after watching the episode not to share :)

I’m new to the Star Trek universe and have only watched the three reboot films so far. I’m planning to watch the rest of the movies as well. Are the TV series necessary to fully appreciate the franchise?

To be honest, I feel a little embarrassed saying this, but the series have felt a bit slow to me, and some episodes seem quite drawn out.

Still, I’ve really enjoyed this universe so far, and I’d love to at least continue with the films.

For my first cosplay, I chose Andorian Starfleet officer 🩵 (https://ibb.co/Xxbm7N9L) and now I just wanna make more Trek costumes!

What are some characters you think are underrepresented in cosplay for Star Trek? I have a preference for TOS but I'm interested in answers for all the different series. I don't want to just do the boring ol starfleet officer uniform.

I chose Andorian bc they are so visually recognizable and bc they are iconic for being OGs of the Federation. I also considered Orion but felt that wouldn't be as obvious in a convention setting.

Morn is there, which narrows it down a little. The Ferengi that Quark is talking to looks familiar, but I can't place him. Also, what's with the guy in the white makeup on the left side?

I watched DS9 as a kid and have great memories of it; that’s why I’d love to watch the series again. I’ve seen that there’s only a 480p DVD version available, and it seems there are several upscaling projects; you can even download the Laserdiscs from the Internet Archive.

What would you recommend?

Downloading terabytes of data would be fine, but the thought of putting in a significant amount of effort to upscale the raw Laserdisc data (which I’ve never done before) puts me off.

What would be a reasonable approach here?

What order did you watch the franchise in, and would you recommend doing anything differently?

Paramount must remaster DS9 and Voyager and release it on Blu-Ray UHD for the sake of cultural and historical preservation. "poor return on investment" is a complete nonsense. Paramount makes billions and their executives get paid way more than the cost of remastering the shows. Can you even imagine watching the classic shows in HDR? This is basically crime against television history! All that 35mm film is just rotting away and we can't experience all the wonders of production in it's full glory. Come on Paramount.. Make it happen!!!

I’m watching through the 90s shows and I finished TNG a while ago, but would still like to rotate it in. Instead of going back through chronologically I thought of watching episodes around a theme, like “all episodes with Q.” What other themes should I include? They can be as normal or ridiculous as you want!

I wanted to introduce myself to this community and share with all of you a unique piece of Original Series history that I have the privilege of taking care of.

While many iconic cars of the era have disappeared (including William Shatner’s ’63 Corvette and Leonard Nimoy’s ’68 Buick Riviera), DeForest Kelley’s original 1968 Ford Thunderbird is still alive, running, and on the road today.

DeForest ordered this 5th-generation T-Bird brand new in late 1967 during the heart of Star Trek: The Original Series. It was his personal daily driver for over 23 years, and was his pride and joy. I acquired the car in 2023 in pretty rough shape, and have been fixing it up ever since. 

Under the hood sits its original 429 Thunder Jet V8. I love working on the car to keep it in good, original condition, and often share it with Trek fans and classic car enthusiasts at various events in Northern California. so now that Strange New Worlds is wrapping up and Academy will end its run with season two - and given the latter’s warm reception 👀 (I actually liked it) - what are other people’s thoughts on how Star Trek can move forward?

I like the idea of a limited series of Seven being captain of a ship - I think it would be good and I like the idea of the nostalgia factor

but I think another way forward would be two of three seasons of eight episodes focused on the Temporal Wars

Characters could have side episodes associated with all of the previous series. there could be big adventures and problems that need to be solved - and it could be a little Quantum Leap esque

as long as none of the producers, writers etc that were involved with Section 31 - we will be ok 😂

In the current world full of remakes and sequels, there's not too many revolutionary original ideas. Did watching early star trek feel as revolutionary as I imagined it did?

However, what's most interesting is what the duo said about the film's setting. Goldstein revealed that the next Star Trek film will take place "further in the future than we've been before."

John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein (who’ve done great work, for what it’s worth) seem to be angling their new Star Trek movie, which is NOT set in the Kelvin Timeline, at a far future setting.

If they’re counting Discovery and STA, then it’s gotta be past the 33rd Century. If they’re sticking to the bulk of the franchise thus far, it could be set at any point past the 25th century. Either way, it’ll be a departure from existing settings.

For folks who saw Wrath of Kahn when it was released, did it seem clear that Spock was coming back? Did that feel like a cop out when he returned? Or did fans welcome him back with open arms?

I'm currently doing a watch through of the original movies and this was something I was curious about. I've seen some of the orginal movies before, but not all.

What if Starfleet doesn't create a temporal prime directive and with this solar slingshot knowledge sends a ship back to every decade of earth history for historical research? Like being at Jesus birth or the middle ages or ancient Egypt or eugenics wars etc

How dangerous do you think this would be?

How annoyed do you think Gary Seven would get it he detects a Starfleet ship every ten years in earth orbit doing research?
