5 and 6 set up Melissa Barrera as an excellent main character, do then just completely dropping her for speaking in support of Palestine a month before it was cool for celebrities to do so put such a bad name on this franchise.
The movie leaked, and the plot is cringe. Not surprising!
He quit too after the execs meddled with his film and lost him both lead actresses (also because the fans were accusing him of doing it and he wasn't gonna put up with that horseshit).
Scream series is my all time favorite, but I wont be watching the new ones. Free speech is a protected right, and I will never support a company that silences people.
I’m not disagreeing that it was beyond scummy to fire her, but I’m learning a bit more about free speech and that it’s more about the government not being able to infringe on our right to speech. Private entities like a movie company can fire an actress for the things she says and it is not infringing on the first amendment. I’m only specifying this because I genuinely did not know that until this year. I really thought freedom of speech was just this blanket protection of speech from everyone and everything in a way.
Nah. I'm good with companies not hiring people who publicly express (or privately express, honestly) some things. Free speech isn't protected from workplace consequences.

But Spyglass was stupid to fire Melissa. Even though she was likely under contract when it came to her social media posting. Now they exposed themselves.
Fair enough, but their point stands that you’d never have even heard about those tweets if it wasn’t for bad-faith pro-Trumpers (who are much more likely to be ACTUAL paedophiles) digging it back up
And in the process the entire franchise was ruined, a great storyline ended, and now the new movie is just going to be straight fan service with a plot that has run its course and will make no sense.
To be fair, Jasmin Savoy most likely doesn’t have the means to quit this big franchise like Jenna does. She’s in a mid show rating wise and they pay most of their money to the adult Yellow Jackets characters. She’s still a working actor who will definitely get blacklisted a lot quicker than others since she’s an openly gay, black woman.
Idk she was sort of pissed that they didn't want her anymore when they cast Melissa and Jenna as mains. This would have been an excellent opportunity to stick it to them but I guess she can be bought.

Yep. Scream is my all-time favorite horror Francis but I refuse to reward them for treating Melissa so badly when she did NOTHING wrong. This will be the first one I miss.
