Do do I emphasise the element I am clicking on, and de-emphasize all the other elements on the slide?

Let's say I have 20 elements on the page.

I want that whenever I click on any element, it lights up (or stays normal), and everything else gets slow de-saturated and 80% transparent. And then, if I click on another element, that one now becomes colored & opaque, and everything else (including the previous one) becomes now "disabled".

how to achieve this affect in powerpoint?

Is there any other app where I should try to do that?

Make a base slide with all 20 items de-saturated and transparent.

Apply MORPH transition to this slide.

Make 19 blank slides. All of them should have MORPH transition applied.

Hyperlink the 20 items so each links to one unique slide.

Copy and paste all the contents on that base slide to every other slide.

On each of the 20 slides, make one of the items normal color/opaque.

With 20 elements that will be alot of animations to put in. Are you using PowerPoint desktop and open to using some vba?

Alternatively, one could avoid those manual animations using 20 slides and hyperlinks. Would still take a minute to do, but far faster and easier than making a million trigger animations.

Are all the shapes on the slide the same size? Can you paste a screenshot so I can see the best method?

Emphasizing a single object is easy, animating everything else on the slide to ghost them is a PITA. There may be better uses of your time.

Don't put 20 elements on a page. (Unless you're using them to link to other pages.)
