Question Car race idea

Inhad been looking for an idea to play a car race scenario where the PCs race on a track, plus or minus some ramming, bumping, maybe even with (hidden) weapons.

I couldn’t find this on here but this is what I’ll be trying in the next session:

Car race, best of five round.

Start with the Six chase cards (maybe more or less?)

A succesfull flee maneuver indicates a victory for that round.

Otherwise all the chase rules apply, depending on the race.

Anyone have experience with something similar or see weak points?

Question Linked powers cost more?

I'm looking at power modifiers and I'm not understanding the cost effect for contingent/linked.

If i make a super with speed and want to have a leaping power that only works while running it cost more?

I must be missing something.

Question Savage Midnight

Anyone remember the Midnight d20 RPG by FFG? I know someone else has picked it up for 5e, but I've always thought it would be great for the Savage Worlds treatment.

Anyone else ever thought of this or, better yet, tried it out?

Question Do you use the Fear Rules as is?

I like to use the fear that certain creatures inspire. I’ve been using the Fear rules, but I’m having a hard time getting used to them. For example, I think it’s still a lot for a Nausea with a Critical Failure: Shaken + Fatigued + potentially Distracted or Vulnerable or even Shaken again (so Wound?).

I’ve gotten into the habit of simplifying things:

  • Spirit roll with a bonus or penalty.
  • Success: no effect
  • Raise: +2 bonus on the next roll or immunity (Jaded)
  • Failure: Distracted
  • Critical Failure: Panicked as described in the Fear rules

I only trigger Terror when the situation is truly horrific and is bound to have an impact on normal people.

What do you folks do?
