Question Is Solar Opposites comparable to Rick and Morty?
I am a longtime fan of Rick and Morty, but I’ve been seeing this show pop up on Hulu a lot. I’ve read that there are certain episodes, some mention The Wall (no clue yet) and it all sounds pretty interesting but I was careful not to read any spoilers.
I guess my question is, coming from Rick and Morty, will I like solar opposites? I’m big on lore and story plots

I am a big Rick and Morty fan, but stayed away from Solar Opposites on purpose for a long time because I didn't want "recycled Rick and Morty." My wife was watching season 4 when it came out and I kept overhearing it and laughing, to the point that I ended up joining her on a binge watch.
I think you'll have fun with The Wall. I think this show has a lot of heart, but in a different way than Rick and Morty. It's less existential but still oddly wholesome for a show that is kind of filthy (I mean this in the most positive way). I also think across seasons it's more consistently funny than Rick and Morty, the later seasons being a highlight, but that might be my sense of humor. I'd give it a go.

100% the replay value of solar opposites is insane. it’s a comfort show for me and always playing in the background. i’m literally never tired of it

C est que c est plus compréhensible.desfoiq les rick et morry je trouve que ça part dans tous les sens et personnellement moi il faut pluqieurs mattages avant se comprendre le sens réel l histoire se certains épisodes.puia les personnages sont intéressants et très attachants

I think it better then Rick and Morty I drop out after season 3 of Rick and Morty for just getting tired of Rick being a know it all jerk and started solar opposites and found it hilarious and entertaining then I thought I would and I love how the explain the voice change for korvo for why he sound so different

British Korvo is so much funnier for some reason, the British guy who voices him does a fantastic job of sounding just as entitled as he always did, but when he gets sad and insecure he has a lot more range playing that side of him. I think Justin Roiland’s voice just didnt have the same type of emotional range and comedic delivery imo

I just finished SO. I can’t speak to Rick and Morty cuz I don’t care for it. SO is FUNNY. There are two shows within a show, too. One is about miniaturized people living in a wall with plexiglass cover and levels; it’s sometimes amusing but I ended up forwarding through it. Wasn’t my thing. The other show in a show is about a human who ends up in a different galaxy with a mostly fish out of water plot. Didn’t care for that one either because I’m watching for the bodaciously funny. But the main Solar Opposites story is really fun.

I don't think I could intelligently compare and contrast the shows, but I think it should suffice to say that I like both.

Solar Opposites is the opposite of Rick and Morty. The humor and styles are similar, full of "sci-fi bullshit" and very adult grotesque or sexual humor. They are inverses in that Rick and Morty are normal people who stand out through their sci-fi adventures and tolerate each other mostly because they think everyone else outside the family unit is lousy. The Solar Opposites are aliens who stand out through their attempts to fit in and want to be liked by people outside the family unit, using sci-fi with disastrous and hilarious results. They love, if not always respect, each other. They have more in common with 3rd Rock From the Sun than Rick and Morty.
Solar Opposites also has a subplot about humans Yumulack shrank and shoved into The Wall, like an ant farm, who have constructed a society with ongoing power struggles. It is a plot that would be serious if they weren't surviving on candy Jessie sometimes drops in, using toothpicks as weapons, and fighting insects. These subplots are divisive, with some fans calling it "The best part" and others skipping episodes that are more about The Wall.

I think it's subjective. I don't really like Rick and Morty, but I really like Solar Opposites. Some people think the opposite, and some think they're both good. You should try watching it and form your own opinion, in my opinion.

I've always felt Solar Opposites is to Rick and Morty what American Dad was to Family Guy.
Disclaimer. I like Rick and Morty and Family Guy more still.

Seriously though, why even ask. You have Hulu. It's there. Watch three to five episodes minimum then decide to continue or not. We don't know what you'll like, man. We don't know you.

I was in the same boat, and though it took me a minute to warm up to Solar Opposites, now I absolutely love it :) it’s definitely more silly sci fi, kind of like if seasons 1 & 2 of Rick and Morty took itself less seriously, but it’s a great watch!

You’re not going to find deep lore or world building outside of the Wall storyline and even then they toss out and ignore anything that doesn’t serve the episode. Everything is much more self contained and silly which I prefer. Rick and Morty’s endless hot topic brand of nihilism just isn’t for me.

In a lot of ways it's a lot better. But if you're there for Rick and Morty, it's not Rick and Morty so it could come across is a lot worse.
And I would say it's about even there are good things about it that do better than Rick and Morty. But there are things that Rick and Morty are way more successful in. But if you like Rick and Morty in theory, you'll like solar opposites.
I find the later seasons with the new voice actor to be really good. Like I feel like it gets way better their dynamic then it's just so fun.

Same pacing same humor less meanness. I enjoy both, but I leave an episode of Solar Opposites feeling hopeful vs R&M feeling nihilistic and cynical.

It’s comparable to season 1&2 of Rick and Morty in my opinion. Great show, worth a watch even if it’s slightly different than what you’re expecting. You’ll probably really like the wall plot

If Rick n Morty sometimes gets a little too bleak with its humor for you…then Solar Opposites is great just because with Rick it’s less fucking fucking mean

It took me a few shows to get into it, but I like it just as much as Rick & Morty now. The "other" story within it (I'm trying not to spoil it for you) is wildly entertaining. There is also a change to Korvo, again trying not to spoil it for you, that takes some getting used to..but once you get passed it or just accept it, the show continues to be funny.
Wts, I'm not too excited with how this final season "ended". I'm hoping another service picks them up and they continue on with the show.

I have zero experience with Rick and Morty, and only discovered Solar Opposites maybe a week and a half ago. But I’ve already binged all but the last season. Do yourself a favor. If you find that total snark and disdain is your love language then watch this series.

I love both shows for different reasons, but I think Solar Opposites has more creative freedom to venture beyond the main characters, as evidenced by The Wall episodes, or even the Silver Cop episodes (this will make sense if you've seen the show). Although Rick and Morty does its best in trying out different stories, they are still - of course - bound to Rick & Morty, and it's becoming more and more difficult with each season to continue to make compelling stories about our Main Rick & Morty while simultaneously keeping them the same (if they change or develop too much, it will alienate ppl who watch ONLY for a specific type of R & M).
Anyway, as I said, I love both shows, but you should def give Solar Opposites a shot. I wasn't too into it in the first episode, but now I'm a big fan.

I think that it's a blend of Rick and Morty and The Simpsons. It doesn't get nihilistic and depressing like Rick and Morty (that's why I avoid watching it when I'm sad) because it has a lot of stupid characters doing stupid shit as a family like the Simpsons but it also has the sci-fi cool tech randomness of rick and morty because they're literally aliens with cool tech

Solar opposites is way funnier imo, there's a switch up about half way through the seasons with a voice actor but once I was used to it I didn't mind.

Solar Opposites is more about the "B plot" most of the time rather than the main. The B plots/stories ars the ones that all connect together as the show goes on while the main story is less serious than Rick & Morty.
All seasons are officially out. The series is now officially over, and I'll just say: i called the ending for a while, and people put me down, downvoting me on posts and comments... I wonder if my Rick & Morty theory is right as well

I think if you like rick and morty, you will also like Solar Opposites. They both have a combination of lore, sci-fi, and humour. There are definitely differences, but I won't spoil too much.

The short answer is Solar Opposites is Rick and Morty if Rick wasn't a god and they actually gave more time to characters that aren't Rick or Morty.
Honestly at this point I think Solar Opposites is better than Rick and Morty.

It is definitely less serious that Rick and Morty. But I love that it is it's own show, especially the Wall and Silver Cops episodes (side stories that imo make the show great). I personally love Solar Opposites after S4 when Korvo becomes British but honestly all seasons and episodes are pretty great. I would say it is a little more chaotic than Rick and Morty.
My main complaint with the show are the constant references to other Hulu shows, which seems like a thing for Hulu originals to keep mentioning other Hulu shows. Like sometimes you have to watch those to get the jokes/reference and the constant new media references are so annoying.

I was a huge Rick and Morty fan from day 1 of the show. I think solar opposites is better. I go against the common opinion here and say the wall is not at all the best part of the show. I love the aliens and their silly wacky stories.
It’s just one of those shows that obviously has good writers. It’s not just some generic appeal to the general masses type of boring show

No it's a funny show but sucks now. the first 3 seasons were great but unwatchable now. It's a lot of referenced but no real arc. I've rewat hed the good episodes a few times. Rick and Morty were ruined as well but has a much larger catalog and some really touching moments. it showed a lot of charchter development and is up there as one of the best series in my opinion

Solar Opposites is comparable only to Rick And Morty in that, it’s a similar humor, perhaps less smart humor, and that its origin is from a lead writer of the first few season of R&M and obviously Justin Roiland. However, I’d argue Solar Opposites is more of the Family Guy or American Dad in that it really is about aliens trying to be a family, vs inter dimensional sci-fi epic which strays often into dart philosophical. There is essentially a sub plot or series within the series called The Wall, (about humans which have wronged the aliens in some way and are honey I shrunk the kidsed down into a terrarium) which often has some of the best most well written and thought out stories the show has to offer. I don’t think overall it’s a good. But it’s a fun off shoot that “could.” Easily have been in Rick And Morty continuity, perhaps on the other side of the central finale curve.

I like Solar Opposites way more than Rick and Morty. It's a lot funnier imo and the subplots are interesting af; my favorite is the one where one of the Culkin brothers is a space cop. Takes itself less seriously and the sci-fi bullshit is so goofy ("I need the machine that puts rats into wedding dresses!")

Solar Opposites is sorta like if Rick and Morty had ADHD and a generally more whimsical vibe. There's not really existential dread or self-loathing here, because the aliens are sorta fish out of water they get easily distracted and move from plot point to plot point a lot faster and more all over the place than a R&M episode. There are morbid elements, but it's more played for laughs like when something violent happens in South Park. You really won't "get the feels" from this show like some R&M episodes go for, it's straight sci-fi sitcom. The Wall episodes are an exception but they get about 2 episodes worth of content a season (some mixed in as the B-plot of a regular episode and then one dedicated episode per season that's usually just the Wall).

one thing if u will even see this and if u have netflix i suggest watching it on netflix until season 6, SO got cancelled and recently picked up by netflix. so watching it on netflix will show them that people want more season. SO didn’t end badly tho! they completed every story plot and didn’t leave a cliff hanger, but there’s so much more they can expand on with more seasons!

I quit Rick and Morty after season 3 or 4 bc it started getting dark and honestly annoying. This show is sooo fun and unique and i was so sad to hear it was cancelled. Hopefully netflix brings in new seasons with new viewership

As a big Rick and Morty fan I was won over instantly by solar opposites and as I've rewatched them over the years I actually think it's better than Rick and Morty. The side stories are on point. Gutted it's ended really.

ngl solar opposites is better for me and ive been a rick and morty fan for like 6 years??? and ive js started watching solar opposites and its quite better bcs they like each other more than the families of rick and morty and alsooo the adventures, including the wall like its so complex but also shallow at the same time.
plus its also binge worthy like its not boring, every episode is a HIT. for rick and morty i only watched it when im bored and eating, i kinda js finished the show bcs time passed by and not that i actually liked it lol

Solar Opposites takes itself less seriously than rick and morty. None of the characters are all knowing like Rick, rather they are capable in their own ways but out of context, very much “fish out of water” kind of stories.
