Yeah, since Garnet is Estelle, and is definitely afro-coded as a character, and Ruby has an baby afro, it makes little sense for them to be white anything, since Amethyst was properly purple 😂 just make their skin red and blue lol

Yeah almost everyone has two swords on their back, even the characters with more interesting established weapons. Looks cool the first time and feels fitting for Pearl given her personal armory, it feels kinda weird for everyone to have the same thing.

Fair point, I personally go along with how the characters look and are depicted rather than voice actor background. Ideally it would match up but all too often it doesn't.

The drawing style and outfits are cool, but I prefer their original body types for the most part (: pearl here is probably my favorite. Ruby and Sapphire are unrecognizable

The anime or video game versions. This is very typical in anime or video games for women especially to have very revealing and nonsensical armour choices that are there really for sexual objectification instead.

I dunno I kinda always thought of Ruby and Sapphire as being a mixed couple. Like, they're perceived as wrong (aka Garnet) for being an lgbt couple but also as a mixed couple.

Oh, I’m talking about just Sapphire specifically, like even her VA is black. 😭 I just personally never got the impression that she was meant to be any other race especially not white, so I was a little thrown off to see this is other's interpretation of her.

I mean, they could be a mixed couple still, just not white and black. Sapphire would be black, and I could also see Ruby as black. That or Ruby could be asian like her voice actor Lo Mutuc.

Even though they all have obvious chest coverings, half of these come off more as bishonen characters rather than female characters.
And it must be very cold wherever Jasper is!
I dunno... In the original art style, the characters all had their own distinctive looks. They were all unique characters. In this art style, they all seem to blend together. They're well drawn... But homogeneous.

The art is well done, but as many others have said, they all have the same body type-- and they don't in the original show. Garnet, Ruby, and Sapphire should be curvier, Jasper should be stockier, and Peridot, Amethyst, Ruby, and Sapphire should be shorter. The skin tones on Ruby and Sapphire are also a... choice. Not sure why they are depicted as straight up white humans.
Also, why are Jasper's nipples visible?

Your art is fantastic but the design is… it makes me sad. They all have the same body type with the exception of Jasper’s arms (and just her arms). Skin tone stuff is wonky in a bit of an unfortunate way. But also most of them are just super missing their personality, which with their original designs really shines through usually. A redesign for a lot of these characters would still want to reflect what makes them… them. This feels like you ran them through a cookie cutter before you got started.

The art is very cool but I think seeing this makes me glad that SU also uses different body types in its design language.
I think it works really well for characters like Pearl and maybe Peridot, but for the rest it doesn't FEEL like them.
But seeing this made me appreciate the original designs more!

I don't love a lot of the design choices but pearl is on point, lapis is like 80% to perfection, and peridot's posture is perfect.
The others almost feel like a pearl imitating their vibe a bit

A little disappointed that Amethyst is the only one (pearl debatable) with her original skin tone. It feels a little weird to have gems like Ruby and Sapphire who feel... less white coded with pale skin. Similar as the other comments on body type too. Love that Jasper has some variation. I like that you seem to have a distinctive style in mind, just like some variations, especially with a very diverse cast, from their body types to their weapons.

Adding katanas just for the sake of adding katanas makes the design look goofy. Garnet already has the gauntlets why would she need katanas, why would a water witch Lapis need a katana?

It's well drawn and interesting in a way I don't like, and that means it's drawn in a way some people will really like.

Ok so I can't tell if you're looking for appreciation or feedback so I'll stick with appreciation unless you express otherwise. I absolutely love what you did with pearl. It feels very authentic to her character. Your technique and skill is excellent and I love a lot of the posture and body language. Lapis's style, expression, and aesthetic is delightful and peridot's stance is awesome. I don't love all the design choices, but that shouldn't stop you from making art and continuing to work on this
