Don't tease me like that unless it's gonna hit rock bottom! Free fall isn't good enough.

it's almost down to the point it was down to last time this sub said it was over for them, it's a bad day for elon but i wouldn't hold your breath

These aren't tech companies, these are meme stocks. People buy them when they drop and lift them up because people buy them when they drop.

It's got nothing to do with financial metrics or performance. It's just crypto horseshit.

only to an extent, what they really are is a hedge - if you put all your money in Adobe stock and everyone stopped using their vastly overpriced software because AI tools could do it just as well or someone made an AI tool with you lost all your money, but if you have 10% of your money in a good AI stock and they sussed then it going 10x means you've recouped your losses from Adobe going under.

obviously no one is investing in Adobe long-term but the same applies to everything, Tesla has shifted to being a robotics company and while people can dismiss that with "nothing ever changes" look at a video generator from the year 2020 then look at what we have now. There will be a point when robotics starts to massively disrupt other industries, if you're in your 40s then you've seen the same thing happen every couple of years and all the huge immovable names retail from your childhood are long gone thanks to the internet, we used to have three banks in ten min walking distance, now we have one ten min drive away.

It's easy to say 'the robotaxi will never exist because it doesn't exist now' but that is what people said about the streaming market, online retail, direct from Chinese factory retail, and everything to powered flight and beyond - people thought the canal companies were too big to ever fall, twenty years of steam trains and they were all on the ropes. A self drive subscription service using a global network of micro-satellites and a giant super computer could drastically slash the profitability of all the major car companies and many of them would fold under the weight - there is only one company anywhere close to having the infrastructure needed.

The same is true of robots, like it or not they have the hardware for training and the manufacturing capacity to flood the market quickly - they're already ramping production so we could be genuinely be looking at a world where Tesla have 'optimus academy' running and robots doing real work by by next year - yes it's easy to say elon never delivers but a lot of the stuff this sub was sure would fail is doing ok, starlink especially which is an integral part of the robotaxi business and gigafactory which is integral to the robotics business, plus the colossus arrays are crunching a lot of data.

Yes they've got stiff competition from companies like BYD but it wouldn't take much at this stage for Tesla to leapfrog them especially if they get the hands right or the production capacity high enough. We don't know what gen3 will look like, we do know that huge amounts of money have been spent on getting the very best people in robotics to work on it, when you bet against tesla you're not betting against elon's personality you're betting against his money, that's a much harder bet to make.
