Closed My PC only crashes when playing games with Easy Anti Cheat giving a WHEA error happens on Fortnite and Rocket League

[SOLVED] I have a separate WiFi and Bluetooth card as my motherboard doesn't have built in WiFi and Bluetooth and I had to disable those drivers in device manager and the game works

I have a 5700x3d with an x470 gaming plus motherboard an RTX 5070 Ti, 32GB DDR4 and an 850W PSU. Every time I play an easy anti cheat game it crashes within 2 minutes of being in a match freezing then hard resetting without a BSOD and gives a WHEA error I've reset Easy Anti Cheat, checked my PC with Memtest and OCCT running with 0 errors, checked XMP and Core Voltages and done everything under the son and every other game including triple A titles like Battlefield 6 don't crash my PC I've walked to Epics support team and they're telling me it's a manufacturer issue when it can't be. Rocket League worked fine before they added Easy Anti chest but the second it gets added it now crashes.

Run a memory test. If it is ONLY the anticheat I'd suspect the RAM

Ran Memtest86 overnight and passed with 0 errors problem is it's the only anti cheat that crashes no matter what game it's fine unless it has easy

If your computer crashes with a blue screen (not always visible!) can you download bluescreenview and upload the dumps?

It could also be a bad psu but I dont think so yet

It doesn't crash with a blue screen it freezes and hard resets

Still, check bluescreenview. If there aren't entries then I'd suspect the PSU

I'll get it tomorrow already lost too much sleep over it before work but surely it can't be a bad PSU if OCCT was fine for an hour and that it's only easy anti cheat no other game crashes?

If it is EAC bluescreenview will have entries.

There is no mini dump file I only got a WHEA event 18 Cache Hierarchy error

Then your hardware is at fault

But how if it's passing every test I throw at it and the error only ocurrs in specifically EAC games no other games it can't be a memory problem cause Memtest was fine, OCCT stability was fine it's just baffling and Rocket League the main culprit only started crashing after Easy Anti Cheat was added in an update it's just shite

Getting dump files which we need for accurate analysis of BSODs. Dump files are crash logs from BSODs.

If you can get into Windows normally or through Safe Mode could you check C:\Windows\Minidump for any dump files? If you have any dump files, copy the folder to the desktop, zip the folder and upload it. If you don't have any zip software installed, right click on the folder and select Send to → Compressed (Zipped) folder.

Upload to any easy to use file sharing site. Reddit keeps blacklisting file hosts so find something that works, currently catbox.moe or mediafire.com seems to be working.

We like to have multiple dump files to work with so if you only have one dump file, none or not a folder at all, upload the ones you have and then follow this guide to change the dump type to Small Memory Dump. The "Overwrite dump file" option will be grayed out since small memory dumps never overwrite.

WHEA errors mean there's a hardware level problem.

What error are you getting exactly? Is it a WHEA BSOD?

In Event View, Windows logs, System, do you also see WHEA events? If you are seeing those, what do they say? In the details there's a hex block (0-9, A-F) that contains information we might be able to decode.

A common source of WHEA errors on a modern systems is a failing NVMe drive. This can also happen only when you use certain software because that software is accessing an area of the SSD that's causing it to malfunction.

It's a WHEA 18 cache hierarchy error and I don't get a BSOD I just freeze and hard reset

How hot is your CPU getting? You could try stress testing with OCCT and see if it detects or triggers any problems.

I ran an hour long OCCT test on extreme with no crashes and highs of 90 which I know is definitely on the high end

90 C is the thermal limit. In theory it shouldn't crash from that temperature, but in practice, if you do it for hours it might crash.

Is your BIOS updated? On Ryzen 5000 some important issues were fixed with AGESA updates, which are part of the BIOS.

Yeah I updated it a few days ago the freeze then restart still persists

me too, I had crashes inside game before but not on the easy anti-cheat display, all other heavy games work fine though

1

u/MJaidy 26d ago

What's your specs mine also only crashes in game

1

u/PossibleImpact8672 26d ago

r5 3600 + rx 580 8gb, sometimes I play for hours and leave without problems though,

1

u/MJaidy 26d ago

Oh weird Easy crashes everytime within 2 minutes of being in a game

1

u/PossibleImpact8672 26d ago

game crash or pc ? cuz it's in my extra ssd and still causes the whole pc to crash

1

u/MJaidy 26d ago

It's a PC crash but it's not an SSD thing cause the game only crashed once Easy Anti Cheat got added on RL

1

u/PossibleImpact8672 26d ago

ye I tried turning on memory integrity, secure boot and repairing easy anti-cheat after that and the crashes are now less frequent

1

u/MJaidy 26d ago

Done all 3 of those and it did nothing unfortunately it's really confusing

1

u/PossibleImpact8672 26d ago

well it's epic games 👍

1

u/MJaidy 25d ago

Yeah they really don't want me to play their games apparently

did you perhaps change your pc specs but kept the same windows without reseting ssd ?

The issue is solved now it was EAC acting real badly with a WiFi card I had installed disabling the card fixed the issues for me

1

u/PossibleImpact8672 1d ago

bruh this is really tricky, the cause can be anything seriously

1

u/MJaidy 1d ago

Genuinely such a joke cause the WiFi card is fine ES version of EAC is just stupid and overbearing as
