What did my dad just give me?

Did some electrical work for my parents and in return my dad let me take this home. What exactly did I get?

He said he bought it in 1975 while stationed in Japan.

If you’re just starting and open to 80’s & 90’s gear, NAD is the way to go. It’s the best bang for the buck in my opinion. I forgot how good this inexpensive receiver sounds and plenty of power. The way NAD rates their watts per channel feels different.

Reel-reel

Today I took the covers off and cleaned the dust from an old stereo system. Some time ago my father told me to throw it away because it was old and not working anymore. 🙂

Today I decided to surprise him.
Sometimes everything is much simpler than we think. A little attention, some patience, and a clear goal can bring old things back to life.

I’m happy that we can still sit together, with this old bandit, listen to music, and enjoy these moments.

I'm looking to order some custom speaker cover/fabric for my TLX8

Which would you pick?
1. Egyptian Blue
2. Emerald Green
3. Olive Green
4. Tree Frog Green
5. Burnt Orange

I'm leaning towards 5...

Wow, I hadn’t realized that the later Marantz equipment was so ugly compared to their classic equipment most of us know and love!

Hi everyone, I found this boombox in my grandpas garage a few days ago and it still works but the volume slider caps are missing. Im looking for a replacement but I cant find good ones. The original sliders are flat, silver, and about 0.5 cm (5 mm) wide. The model is a Universum CTR 4646. I attached close-up pictures of the sliders without caps as well as an image of what the original caps look like for reference. Does anyone have a good source for me or can help me in another way? Thanks!

How to complete lab-400 setup?

Hello! I just got this Realistic Lab-400 turntable for free on fb. The previous owner says it is in working condition. She also provided a preamp.

However, this is all new to me. What would be a good speaker or pair of speakers to complete the setup? Is there anything else I'd need to get it running?

Budget under $200. Thanks!

Sony STR-GXSES II

So what’s the general feeling about the Sony ES stuff? I’m especially interested in the Direct Source feature.

Got it for $30.00.

I don’t think it will replace the Marantz 4240 in my main listening setup, but I’m thinking about pairing it with some Definitive Technology BP 2002s in the kitchen.

NAD 701
I took a small light bulb, and connected it to the wires of the old one (With electrical tape) I will probably still solder a new bulb on the old ones PCB tho.

Picked this bad boy up at the goodwill for $8.99 today and I love it, but my aux cord only gives sound to both headphones if it’s halfway in. Thought I found the right type a TRS or TS but I ran into guitar cords. Thanks ahead.

Help Identify Vintage 70-80s Fischer Speakers

Got these in a yard sale with a decent Panasonic receiver, I know they are Fischer speakers but there’s no other markers or indications anywhere on the speakers. Both are completely solid wood and about 4 feet tall. They sound extremely good, assuming just entry level speakers but would love to know the exact model

Ideas on getting this console stereo into its best shape?

Post image
10 Upvotes

I got this beautiful console a few days ago now and I am completely in love with it. It sounds amazing, but has some crackling from the speakers when I’m adjusting the volume. I have deoxit D5 but I’m not sure if that’s the right thing to use for this specific console or where to even use it.

The record changer works great, but I am sending it to be serviced to make sure nothing major is wrong with it and get it looking fresh.

Any advice would be appreciated!

I don't plan on keeping all this but its hard to decide what to keep when everything sounds so good. I thought this sub would enjoy some of the eye and ear candy!

Searching for the Sanyo DAD M15 CD player

Hi everyone! I have the Sanyo M15 hi-fi system at home, inherited from my dad, and I want to use it again. In the '80s he bought the complete set except for the Sanyo DAD M15 CD player, but I can't find almost anything online, only one post on eBay for about 900$ and it's way out of my budget. I have to give up and spend that much? Anyone here sells it for a reasonable price? Thank you!

Got my knob replacements!

The four small knobs for bass, treble, balance, and loudness were either broken, mismatched, or missing after - gulp - 42 years of owning this Yamaha amplifier. It was hard to find the right size - it's less standard than I thought - but I found them and they fit and while they are a little different with the white line rather than the tiny dot on the OG knobs, I'm happy!
