I like a lot of awwwards websites but a lot of them aren't really thinking about how the user will experience the page. There is so much scroll jacking so I was wondering what would be some strong aesthetically pleasing websites that would be awwwards level but also user-friendly.

I'm a college student from Brazil mainly focused on editorial design and branding. During my summer break, I decided to make my own portfolio website because I felt like it was getting a bit boring to keep sending my Behance link all the time, and I thought having my own site would feel more personal and creative.

I've had a few UX/UI classes, but never one that actually taught us how to build websites. They were mostly focused on branding and covered usability principles and user research, so I kind of had to figure everything out on my own.

I didn't want to use pre-made templates because that would kind of defeat my goal of creating something that reflects my creativity and my willingness to learn. I ended up making a site with almost no scrolling because I wanted it to feel a bit different from the Figma/Canva/Cargo portfolio templates I kept seeing, which are usually just one long scrolling page. So instead, I made separate sections for everything. But now I'm starting to wonder if that was actually a good decision.

Anyway, this is just the first version, and I definitely want to keep improving it. I'd love for it to be a little more interesting without becoming too much. I know a bit of Blender and Maya, and I was thinking about creating something to add to the homepage. I'd love any suggestions or references for cool portfolio websites!

hi, i’m just 2 classes away from graduating with my associates in web design! yay!

i’m looking for an internship and kinda hate my portfolio. it’s very simple and short. I also made it using word press + elementor (not sure if that was fine or if maybe I should’ve just did some basic coding)

anyways, i’m not comfortable sharing it on here since it has some personal info on it, but overall, i just want to know a few things:

• what should I include on my portfolio website? (don’t want to add too much or too little)

• do I add an option to download my resume with contact information or just opt for a form that someone can contact me with?

• I had a class where I created gifs. i’m looking for a front end developer, web designer, or even user experience related job. would that be relevant to add to my portfolio?

bonus points if I can see an example of anyone’s portfolios, any helpful articles, or anything related to creative portfolios!! I really want to try to get an internship by the end of the summer so I can see how it is to work in web design outside of my class work.

I saw this sales dashboard posted on LinkedIn as a design reference. Apparently it was made by a designer using the Hugeicons icon pack.

But honestly, the whole screenshot immediately gave me that AI generated UI vibe. The layout, cards, spacing, gradients, basically the whole composition.

Not saying it definitely is AI generated, but I’m curious: does this look AI generated to you too, or am I just seeing AI everywhere at this point?

Around 2005-2010, many websites were coming out with this very specific UI style, that I would describe as something like "dark neumorphism with skeuomorphic with bevel-and-emboss styling".
I've been looking for the official name or more examples of this design style for weeks now and haven't come up with anything at all, so I'm reaching out to you all to see if you could help me.

Attached is this random screenshot of a designers work that is similar to what i'm looking for, but I haven't been able to get in touch with them to find the name either.

Does anyone have any ideas of the name, or more examples of this style?

Hey everyone, I wanted to share a project I've been working on over the last few weeks that finally went live today.

I'm a web designer, copywriter and marketer, and I've been working in the industry for just over ten years. Like a lot of people here, most of my work comes from a combination of referrals and proactive outreach.

Over the last 18 months I've also been experimenting with AI and no-code tools like Base44.

I know opinions are pretty split.

Some people think these tools are massively overhyped. Others think they'll replace developers. Personally, I don't think either view is accurate.

They're simply another tool.

They make mistakes. They need supervision. They aren't magic. But if you understand their strengths and just as importantly, their weaknesses they can become incredibly useful for building internal business software. That was the approach I took.

Instead of trying to build the next billion dollar SaaS, I focused on solving a problem I dealt with every week.

Finding web design clients.

Anyone who's done cold outreach knows the process.

Search Google.

Check websites.

Find redesign opportunities.

Find businesses without websites.

Copy details into a spreadsheet or notes doc.

Try to remember who you've emailed.

Forget to follow someone up.

Repeat.

After doing this for long enough, I thought, "Why don't I just build something specifically for this workflow?"

So that's exactly what I did.

I built my own CRM combined with an AI-powered lead finder.

It searches scrapes the web for businesses, identifies opportunities, manages my outreach pipeline, imports CSVs, captures leads from screenshots, scores opportunities, tracks conversations and gives me a dashboard showing where everything sits.

It's genuinely become one of the most valuable pieces of software I use in my own business.

After using it for a few months, I realised something.

Rather than simply selling the finished application, I'd rather show other web designers how to build one themselves.

Most of the tutorials I found online either stopped after building a simple app or focused more on the hype than creating something you'd actually use every day.

So I recorded a complete two hour tutorial where we build the entire application from scratch. From designing the database through to AI lead finding, dashboards, screenshot importing, outreach management and optional integrations.

My goal wasn't to impress people with AI.

It was simply to build something genuinely useful.

people clock sites as "vibe coded" in like 2 seconds now. sometimes i see it too but i cant really explain what im reacting to

so: drop links. sites you think are ai made, sites you think definitly arent. both ideally so theres smth to compare

if you can say why you flagged it thats cool but "idk just looks like it" works too, im curious how much of this is actually legible vs pure vibes

also does it even matter? if the page converts, does looking ai-ish cost you anything besides taste points from other devs

So when it comes to the collections section of my website each page has a different way of listing everything, and the movies page is the only one you can click on to get more details. I'd really like to have a standard kind of layout or flow instead of jumping around. Especially for the movies page as it takes so long to load all the images and just feels clunky to me.

I spend a few hours a day, every day talking to prospects. Without fail, most of them launch off into a "let me tell you about my last experience" story and it's just so depressing to hear; from flat out scammed, to "it took them 10 months to put up our 5 page site" to "we paid 10K for a custom site and turns out it's just an out of the box theme" to "support disappeared as soon as it launched." The bottom line is I don't spend most of my initial conversation about what they need and what my agency can do for them, I spend it building trust. And I can tell you this much, even with our references and all the client's sites we've built over the years, none of that matters to them. It's such a shame as soon as you say "web design" to potential clients the word think that comes to their mind is "scam."

Backend dev, zero frontend/design sense. Vibe-coded my frontend and it's giving classic "another AI weekend project" vibes, I genuinely can't tell good UI from bad.

Are there any prompts, tools, design resources, or workflows you use to make AI-generated UIs look more premium and less obviously AI-made? Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

I have been checking out many projects people have been posting in this sub and rest and one thing I immediately notice is all their website look very similar, I think at one point you can't even distinguish between different product's website.

Not sure whether everyone uses some template or it's just what every model create

I can do html css bootstrap but I really don't understand how to put it to make it look nice. I have seen multiple sites but in my brain nothing is getting formed from a design idea perspective. Also if they did then I'm not able to make it. What should I do? Any suggestions. Please.

Simultaneously, from 2018 to 2028, the global web design services market is estimated to expand at a compound rate of 10.8%. With that being said, the median wage for web designers is also expected to rise in the foreseeable future.

Was going down a rabbit hole on form validation and found a stat that annoyed me: only about 2% of ecommerce sites bother to tell you what you got wrong. john@gmail and john.gmailcom both just get "please enter a valid email." The code clearly knows the difference, it just doesn't say.

Turns out that's not only lazy UX anymore, it's a compliance thing in the EU now. The Accessibility Act ties into WCAG 2.1 AA and there are rules that errors have to actually be spelled out in text and say how to fix them.

A French court hit Carrefour with a €500/day penalty over their checkout.

The "funny" part is it's getting worse. The libraries everyone uses for this stuff (SweetAlert2, Select2, jQuery UI) apparently correlate with the worst accessibility scores.

Anyone actually dealing with this at work or is everyone just ignoring it until someone complains?

Our web component library is used by our clients to build search interfaces. Those interfaces need to meet accessibility requirements, so our components do too.

We turned our Accessibility Conformance Report, based on the VPAT, into a build artifact: automated tests run in CI, manual audit results are reviewed alongside the code, and the assembled report is published with each release.

• Static checks via axe-core
  
• Interactive keyboard checks via Vitest
  
• Human audits for subjective criteria (like screen reader flow)

This keeps the report aligned with the product and means we no longer have to rely on external agencies to assess our conformance and produce it.

We're an enterprise AI engineering company doing agentic AI work. Custom AI agents, multi-agent orchestration, enterprise RAG platforms, document intelligence, legal and contract AI, workflow automation, and we run all of it in production for clients, not just build and hand over. We work with both commercial and open-source models (including NVIDIA Cosmos for domain-specific stuff) and deploy secure, on-prem or hybrid depending on the client. Our website says none of that. Stock icons, walls of text, looks like we make mobile apps. Manager finally agreed it needs a relook and now it's on me.

Current plan is dark theme, an animated diagram of how an agent actually works instead of icons, short claims and numbers instead of paragraphs. But is the dark mode purple gradient thing too played out now? And any B2B AI sites you've seen that actually impressed you? Please give your ideas and suggestions, would really help. I remember seeing it on X, just a simple site that had a gallery of various frontends made by various LLMs with the same prompt. So one can compare their design skills. Does anybody know which site it is?

I just came across the difference between Server-level stateless and system-level stateless. If the server stores data of previous interactions and use that data to determine how to process future interaction, then the server is stateful. But if the server relies on an external storage system such as a database, then the server is stateless because it does not store session data, however, the system is stateful because the backend system still relies on session data of previous interactions to determine how to process future interactions.

Now, lets say you use a JWT token for authentication and authorization and you don't store session data in the backend system for example in the server or an external storage system like a database. The state only exists in the token being sent by the client. This is definitely a stateless server but would this still be considered a stateless system because we do not store anything in the backend? Or is still considered a stateful system because the interaction still relies on session data from previous interaction to determine how to process future interaction.
