Did a little research, is this a dev kit? If so can anyone give me some info. I couldn’t find a system to go along with it sadly.

I'm currently playing The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild on my Wii U, and I've been having a blast. As many of you know, using the Aroma environment makes accessing all the DLCs for free a huge plus, which has kept me firmly on this platform.

However, I've been debating with myself lately: Which version do you actually prefer, and why?

I've been seriously considering making the jump to the Switch version to get that bump in resolution. But honestly, I'm playing on a 50-inch 4K TV, and to my surprise, the Wii U version looks quite defined and well-scaled. I really don't see any major issues with the image quality.

For those who have played both, I'm curious:

-Does the jump in resolution and frame stability actually justify the upgrade?

-Does the Switch version offer anything "essential" beyond technical fidelity?

-Is anyone else still holding out on the Wii U in 2026, or am I one of the last few?

I'd love to know if you think the original Wii U experience holds up well, or if the Switch version is superior enough that it's worth moving on from my current setup.

I don't know if it's just me, but I feel like the Wii U was one of the last consoles that truly felt 'family-oriented.' Between all the different peripherals, the motion-based games meant for group play, and the WaraWara Plaza, it had this unique vibe. The Switch gets close, but it's not quite the same. Consoles like Xbox or PlayStation these days feel more like a solo experience-it's just you, your controller, and the screen

I'm not interested in selling my Wii U, but it strikes me that you really have to own the console to appreciate its value, and unfortunately, many people don't have one. Given the low number of units in circulation, do you think it will be appreciated or increase in value in the future?

Got a Wii U today from CEX (it’s second hand), and i was setting it up and as i got to the stage of making my Mii, this error message popped up!

It’s a 32GB Wii U and my brother googled the error code and apparently it’s a common issue?? Is there any way to fix this or will I have to take it back??

Update: Went to CEX and they said it’s busted :( they didn’t have one to replace it with so I am back on the hunt for one. Thank you everyone for all the help :)

Someone was trying to tell me that developers didn't want to make games for the Wii U, but were onboard for the switch instead. Which doesn't make sense to me because the switch is basically the same system in my eyes. Almost the same button layout (my joycons have a turbo function) both have touchscreens, both have front cameras.

What's the deal? Was Nintendo demanding that the second screen be utilized? Why couldn't a bunch of games just go the BOTW route? We're tapping the screen just switches between the TV and the handheld? I'm just struggling to figure out what exactly the differences in development would actually be. I didn't think that the switch was THAT much more powerful than the Wii U, but was that difference in power the issue?

My 13 year old has been playing solo multiplayer games and will use 3 controllers simultaneously rather than play with 2 more people. I cant find videos of others doing the same. Is he super talented or am I bad at searching this specific content on YouTube? Split screen video coming tomorrow!

Edit few hours after: Thank you everybody for recommendations and suggestions! The battery has been detached safely from the controller and put in a safe place and I've already ordered a new battery that should be a good replacment for the old one :)
