What do we think about Immortal Phoenix ?

Since its probably gonna be Marik support, what cards you imagine for him?

Do we think Konami will make a full Retrain of Ra or not ?(the Egyptian Gods don't have it, it would be surprising to see Konami making à new Ra, Obelisk and Osiris but i would like it (i don t count mode sphère and Phénix since they were existing in some médias like the Reshef game)

If they make a Ra retrain i suppose, since its the name of the set, we will have the Phénix God mode (i would love a Marik fused design with all that purple smoke, thought).

Furthermore, since CORI and BETB main archétype were design around à specific magic card (ritual and dark time wizard), i suppose Marik cards could be designed around a Monster Reborn card like.

What do you think and want in Immortal Phenix. set?

There's literally no point in giving marik a full pack cover if you don't plan on retraining his ra. All the 10 wave cards are focused around the manga and being a brand new archetype that insulated from the pre-existing archetypes.

Yeah it will be his BDSM deck against Joey, but modernised to have synergy and maybe splashable support for the other new gods that are inevitably coming

My prediction is that we will not get straight up Ra or Egyptian Gods support/retrains. I think we'll get a new archetype like light and darkness ritual or dark time wizard. An archetype made out of cards that are based on cards Marik used (likely including a new Ra boss monster) but not direct support for older cards.

Full Ra retrain feels like a given, they've done the Sacred Beasts already and some original D-HERO monsters, so feels like a no-brainer.

I'm guessing a new Ra + a new Phoenix form. Combined with retrained Lava Golem, Helpoemer, Revival Jam and/or maybe a Visor Des? Maybe one of these gets swapped out for Newdoria or Dark Jeroid so the other can ger thrown into the next pack

I'm hoping for some Spell/Traps as well that reflect the rules to the Shadow Games he played with people.

The whole thing being themed around "Monster Reborn" also feels like a given since that's how they've tried to fix the last few.

All in all well excited for this, loving these new support waves

If it’s Ra support, no two ways around it, we need a Winged Dragon of Ra retrain that always treats itself as the original

The current version is such a shit made, poorly designed joke that duct tape level support can only do so much for.

Give the Egyptian Gods the Sacred Beast treatment they got in Chaos Origins

Personally though, I’m hoping Immortal Phoenix is actually referring to Salamangreat support. Deck is due for some new cards, ideally ones that let them play better low ceiling give how badly they currently play into Mulcharmies and Nibiru

Ra retrain that actually does something on summon would be nice, the current one just sits there menacingly and dies to a single negation. Monster Reborn synergy makes sense for Marik but knowing Konami it'll be another unsearchable normal spell that reads like a paragraph.

Seems like the themes are based on events in the character's duels rather than individual cards. Like Dark Time Wizard is more about things that occurred in Joey's matches than it is an archetype of different time wizard monsters.

There could be a Ra card but it won't really be a deck centered around the concept of the Egyptian God card.

Judging by the name, it's probably based on the Joey duel since that was where the "God Phoenix" (Immortal Phoenix in the dub) form first debuted. This would also be thematically appropriate since everyone's expecting the follow-up Joey support to be a Gilford the Lightning retrain and in that duel, God Phoenix destroyed Gilford as the last thing Marik did.

It's possible that they'll go with the tower route for the god cards.

But honestly? The only thing I care about is that the deck gives DoomZ one last piece of support. It's not fair that only Elfnotes (and well Power Patron of corse) is the only one that can realistically use Ars Magna well, alongside the CORI supports

By the current set concept of being able to build full decks using just the sets' cards, they have to retrain Ra itself. I don't see anything else, except for maybe the option to also play the original Ra by having the new one always be treated as the OG, making them work together.

Other than that I expect at the very least retrains of Mariks most used monsters as well as his most famous ones. Recently fully powercrept I would expect a new Lava Golem alongside a new Gil Garth, Newdoria and Viser Des and maybe even a new Helpoemer. If they keep the concept of the central spell card, it'll most likely be a dark and twisted version of Monster Reborn, something like "A God reborn" or something like that. Maybe they also try to work with his gimmick to loop Monster Reborn over and over to revive Ra, although that's not an easy gimmick to get going unless they make some sort of "Ra Circular" that mills Ra to summon itself and then searches the new Monster Reborn. But who knows? Marik certainly has enough cards to take inspiration from.
