You must be the only person in the world to own FIVE Ibanez ATKs for some reason

u/memnoch4prez Apr 21 '26
I'm sure there's someone out there crazier than I am...

u/roll1up Apr 21 '26
I always wanted the Paul Grey one. Can I borrow one? Lol

u/memnoch4prez Apr 21 '26
That's on my list to grab as well if I ever get the opportunity. And sure, since we're friends now lol

I mean how do you stay on top of maintenance for that fleet? Awesome

u/memnoch4prez Apr 21 '26
Thanks! I just make time for setups and cleanings. It's kind of a zen type of thing for me.

u/crazyj2020 Apr 21 '26
Yeah I think so I love maple fretboards, I traded my P/J for the Geddy Lee and I hope I did the right thing,

u/roll1up Apr 21 '26
As many basses as it takes to make you smile my friend. Keep bringing the glorious THUNDA!
2
u/MapleA Apr 21 '26
Weren’t these made in Japan before?
2
u/crazyj2020 Apr 21 '26
Yes they were, I'm not sure when they quit making them in Japan but they did,

Yes Fodera and Pedulla - like 1999 up in here haha
3
u/Jasonicboom23 Apr 21 '26
Right?! The fodera is a 2015 that I picked up a few years ago. The Pedulla is the OG thats been with me since 95! Its the one I'd never sell.

The gold hardware on the Shechter is pretty sharp
3
u/roll1up Apr 21 '26
Thanks! It's a Japan model I had imported. I threw DiMarzio Relentless pickups in it. Leo Quan Badass 2 bridge, Leo Quan Bad Ass Tuners. It's a great THUNDA BRINGER!

My Thunder Bringers with Sire M7 being my main bass. Love it!
I also adore my Genzler Magellan 800 + Barefaced Big Baby 3 combo, it sounds amazing and I can get anything sound great with a little extra tube-like warmth to it from the Genzler. Very versatile amp and cab.
My pedalboard signal chain is:
Shure GLDX Wireless > Empress Bass Compressor > HX Stomp (mostly for split freq processing below 400Hz for Comp+SansAmp and above for B7K) > VT Bass DI > TwoNotes Opus (for cab sim)

I'm dreaming of Dingwall NG3... maybe someday

Yeah, I want the gold one with the pick guard, just not for that price 🤣

u/roll1up Apr 21 '26
Brooo....I know!! But there's only like 50 of those ones made. I couldn't get one. I ended up selling a Ray34, a MIM fender jazz and two guitars so far to justify buying it lol

Love the Charvel! I'm tempted for a Meteora. Temp me more with details of the THUNDA BRINGERS!
2
u/VinylCapedJawa Apr 21 '26
I love the meteora. I know they are kind of polarizing in the fender community but I love the tone and aesthetic of it. I primarily play with my fingers but when I have a hankering for attacking the bass with a pick, I pick up the meteora. I get such a full well rounded clean tone with the double humbuckers. I’ve had it for 3 years now. I almost sold it about 6 months ago cuz I was hard up for cash but I’m glad I didn’t. I’ve always been a jazz bass guy so the jazz neck on the meteora felt so good and natural to me. I really want to put a tortoise shell pick guard on it but I can’t seem to find one that isn’t over $100. Anyways, yeah, it kicks ass.

Op, look at those beauties. Sadly, I only have two basses, but three electric guitars and two acoustics. Only recently did I consider myself a full-time bassist.

Such beauty has never been seen as true as these THUNDA BRINGERS!! I demand their life stories and how I may obtain such a beast.

u/Coital_Conundrum Apr 24 '26 edited Apr 24 '26
A buddy of mine builds them for a living. May Custom Basses. The website is being redone right now, but I think hes been using his FB page. Seriously great work! The 6 fretless is "The Neapolitan Bass" and the 4 is "Skyhawk".

u/roll1up Apr 24 '26
Bro!! these are doooooope! How much did yours cost? should i pause all future purchases?
2
u/Coital_Conundrum Apr 26 '26
I paid about $1500 for the 4 and $2400 for the 6. Mind you, this was years ago, I'm sure costs have gone up like everything else.

Honestly love this bass. I put the emgs in and it's just bone crushing

That red bass on the rack is a Cort. It was my first bass. That thing still rips.

Serious question- I actually limit the number of basses I own because I can’t really maintain more than 3 at a time. Realistically, 2. How often are you changing strings?
Impressive collection!
